The villa is located on Indian Point which is on a development off Poinciana Boulevard and convenient for all the theme parks and not far from Old Town.
It is a single-level villa with a rocking chair on the porch, fronted by a drive and an integral garage the size you always dreamed of. At the rear is a mesh-framed "greenhouse" surrounding the kidney-shaped pool which is of a good size and has a pair of sun-loungers and a table and four chairs to the side. It gets plenty of sun even though one side is partially covered by a large orange tree from which you can pick fresh oranges. It was a drag pulling the cover off the pool initially and in the twilight, the pool looked like it was dirty but in fact it was the different colour tiles beneath the water-level! We spent a lot of hours in the pool of an evening, the perfect refresher from a hot day.
Inside, the two sofas and chair are comfortable and you have cable TV in every room. There is a DVD player but it only plays US DVDs. The kitchen is a reasonable size with circular table and 4 chairs, a large fridge-freezer, a US size microwave, very large oven and dishwasher.
3 streets away is a massive WalMart where you can buy supplies which aren't provided but then the big thing about this villa is the smallness of the price - it was about half what other villas in this area were being rented for. Now in part, that was perhaps accounted for by the fact the villa was not in a "showhome" condition but that just made it more homely and usable.
There are 3 bedrooms. There are two single beds in one room and a large integral wardrobe with iron and ironing board. A corridor joins it to the wc/bathroom, lounge and Bedroom 2 which has a double bed and integral wardrobe. We slept in this bed initially because it was on the same side of the house as the kids' room but it wasn't particulary comfortable so we retired to the larger bedroom on the other side of the lounge which has a bed so big you have to write to each other...
Off the main bedroom is a shower room/wc/sink and the shower is huge and provided reliable hot water unaffected by use of the other water-using fixtures. A hairdryer is provided which is useful as UK dryers are pathetic on their voltage so leave it at home.
In the garage is the huge washing machine and tumble dryer and you are required to strip the bedding and start the washing at the end of your stay if you have time.
We thoroughly enjoyed the use of the villa over the 14 days we were there. Indian point is quiet, it has two rubbish collections a week which are done before 7am fairly noiselessly!!!
As I've pointed out, this villa is exceptional value. Communication with the owner was faultless and you get given a code to access the key in one of those outside containers. The money you save will be very useful as we washed our way through over a grand in spending money AFTER paying for all the tickets.
I am also exceptionally delighted to say that upon request a travelcrib (not cot, Americans don't call it that) and a highchair were provided at NO EXTRA COST. That's service!
In the light of that, the following is extremely minor nit-picking and intended to be constructive and of no real consequence!
1. On arrival, the kitchen sink was slightly furry round the tap which created a bad impression, maybe through lack of use but a bleach spray soon had it back up to per, fect.
2. There is no welcome pack so stop off at WalMart or a 7-11 on the way. It might be useful to offer something like this as an option.
3. The front door is secured by two turn-locks. When you leave, the key turns one of these but it never felt 100% secure although I'm sure it was.
TIPS: We always use www.park-tickets.com for park tickets which you pay for in the UK and pick up on the corner of Poinciana Boulevard. Done it twice with never a problem. We hired a Dodge Charger through www.carhire3000.com - that was with Dollar which had a very long queue. The sat-nav (at $164) was useful as all US roads look the same and if you have the sat-nav, the childseat hire is free so it can work out even.
Best parks are at Universal, Islands Of Adventure and Magic Kingdom so if you're on a budget, those are the ones to buy. MGM Hollywood Studios has a good stunt show, coaster and Tower of Terror.
