Fabulous place the grounds are quiet and lovely, the cottage nicely presented. The views from the pretty sloping garden were excellent, especially for watching the sun set over the sea. The location is great for the crater lakes and for walks in the countryside on the crater slopes and and along the seaside. We found it hard to leave and definitely plan to come back.
Owner reply:
Thank you for yoru generous comments.
We look forward to welcome you back.

Property itself provided excellent views from a high vantage point overlooking the Atlantic ocean in the north west of the island. The high location itself appears to be prone to lots of sea mists, a 15 minute drive towards the south of the island usually brought you into the sunshine. You can access some fabulous scenery from this location however the roads are narrow, twisty and in poor condition on this part of the island in particular. I have no doubt the road condition will improve but be ready to meet an overtaking car on every corner - on your side of the road ! If you are hoping to dine out regularly you will need to make the 30 minute trip to the main city, Ponta Delgada. In fact if you need to purchase food and cater for yourself there are some good local mini-markets within a short drive but for serious shopping you need to head for the city again.
As for the property itself it was adequate. If you suffer from back pains the beds will do you no favours. The house is clean and was serviced regularly (even if you had to look after replacing the loo rolls yourself). It is not equipped with an oven but does have all other facilities including a microwave. You can be assured of the therapeutic sounds of birdsong throughout the day however it was disturbed by the almost continuous barking of dogs from the village below and this is coming from someone who has five dogs.
The owners were very pleasant as were all Azoreans we met. We would however have liked more orientation at the beginning of our holiday in terms of where to go for food, for best supermarkets, places to visit and how to get there, how to deal with the challenging driving etc.

The view from th garden is one of the best on the island. The cottages are generously separated providing privacy if desired (the cottage is detached not semi-detched as described o the website). The area is extremely quiet and peaceful and the property is well equipped. There are also two adorable dogs who belong to the house at the top of the hill. The ownr was extremely helpful prior to and during our stay. We intend to revisit. Note: the pictures on the website do not do the property justice.
