We stayed here for a long girly/hen weekend and it was perfect!! The villa is beautiful, the pool and surrounding was so relaxing. Its close to local amenities and not far from some really pretty towns! The villa was a little far from main towns if you havent hired a car, but Joe the owner was brilliant, he picked us up and dro pped us off at the dro p of a hat! He couldnt have been more helpful, we dont know how we would have survived without him! We would definately stay here again and recommend it to anyone!

Just back from a great week in La Marina. The villa was in a quiet street and although the pool is at the front it is very secluded. Joe met us at the villa and explained all we needed to know, we also had his mobile number is case we needed anything during the week. The villa was great, lots of glasses etc and free wi fi - bonus. All in all this is a lovely villa and we would definately book it again.

We had a really great relaxing holiday at this villa and would recommend this property. Joe and Maria were very helpful and the property was really well kept. There are plenty of restaurants and a Supermarket very close by. We would recommend Santa Monica and the Bavarius restaurants. It was lovely to go out for a meal and then relax in the pool after. The Sunday and Thursday market are worth having a look at and sell everything from food to sunglasses, clothes, bags and jewellery. Thanks to Joe for the lift to the beach as it is not within walking distance and had an enjoyable day there.

A great Villa if you a like a property that is in a quiet residential area, but with local restaurants and supermarket in easy walking distance. The villa has a homely feel and spotlessly clean throughout. Have stayed here several times, as we feel this has everything we need when you find a great villa why look elsewhere?

The villa was very nice, in a quiet area but within walking distance of restaurants, supermarket etc. The villa is well kitted-out with everything you could want even down to inflatables and kiddies toys for the pool. Had a couple of problems - air conditioning broke down on first day and pool turned green after a week but these were quickly resolved. All arrangements went very well. Would recommend anyone to use this villa if you like a nice peaceful holiday, ideal for children.

Owner reply:
The pool went green because of too much suntan lotion. There was 8 of you and by upping the chlorine a little it cleared up quickly.
I dont blame for using the suntan lotion, you must. I should have added more chlorine from the start knowing there was 8 of you. That is an oversight on my behalf,
I should have known better, but that wont happen again. Hope to see you all soon.

Exceptional property which exceeded our expectations. Experienced fantastic weather and phenomenal festivals (Spanish know how to party). Fantastic restaurants, bars, shops and parks are all just up the road from the villa. The owners have equipped the villa with absolutely everything (essential and extras) to make the stay an extremely comfortable one. Spend most days lazing around the luxurious private pool which was total heaven.

Joe and Maria warmly welcomed us for our first visit to Spain. The villa is wonderful and exceeded all of our wishes. It was clean and tidy, the pool was just the right size and used every day. Local shops and restaurants had a wide choice of food, both English and Spanish. The vehicle hire is not essential as everything is so close, however if you want to go a bit further afield the vehicles are just right and driving is easy. Wifi was an added bonus for the kids to keep in touch with friends. Thank you.

Just back from 8 nights at this very homely villa. We were met by Joe at the airport and made very welcome from the start. Some days we had 37c of sunshine and the aircon and ceiling fans worked adequately for us! The pool was safe and thoroughly used, not overlooked and very private and behind locked gates - Joe came by half way through the week to clean it for us too. Nice and quiet area but still with a good choice of restaurants, supermarket and bars only a few minutes walk away. Wed definitely recommend to our friends and family and make a return visit ourselves too. The kids wanted to watch the home video as soon as we got back so weve revisited the lovely memories we left behind this morning, (including one of the 10pm swims with the groovy lights in the pool, which was still warm) Thanks again Joe, Maria and Nina for making us feel so welcome and for the bottle of vino in the fridge B-)

The other reviews of the villa say it all. This is a fantastic holiday location. The villa is minutes away from a selec tion of restaurants including a very nice chinese. The near by shops and supermarkets have everything you need, so if you like to laze around the pool for a week I would not bother getting a car as the owner can sort out a great deal on airport transfers for you. I cannot speak enough about the villa owner Joe and the lengths he will go to help you enjoy your holiday, nothing is impossible. We are already looking at when we can next go, amazing villa holiday with a 6 star customer service.

We had the most excellent holiday, made even better by the Owners Joe and Maria who were amazing! The photos do not do the villa justice, it is so much better in reality! Bigger, more spacious and very much a home from home. Joes recommendations for eating out were all excellent and we cant wait to return to explore the area more! Would definately recommend a car if you want to explore the area as there is so much to see! The beach is a 10 min car journey, but worth it as it is very clean, clear and sandy! My husband was even able to fly his kite in the evenings on the beach! We will be coming back to Villa Maria!

Owner reply:
It was a pleasure to have you all! Glad you all had a good time. And thanks for your recomendation of the water falls. Never knew we had waterfalls so close to us. You are right, they are great! See you all soon again. Joe and Maria

I was part of the hen party (8 of us in total) that used this villa in the first week of June. From the pictures on the internet I was concerned as to the size of the Villa but on arrival I was very surprised to see the Villa was much bigger than I had expected. The owners were amazing, they picked us up, put a bottle of wine in every room, brought 2 sets of bunk beds and even brought us extra sun loungers for round the pool. The villa itself is gorgeous, very nicely decorated and has everything you could ever need and more. We all managed to get ready for nights out within a small amount of time and considering it was 8 girls, thats pretty good! The pool area was amazing and as stated already, was much bigger than we expected, we actually spent nearly every day in and around the pool, the BBQ was a lovely touch, which we did take advantage of. The local area is quiet although there is a nightclub just 5 minutes walk with several bars but would suggest the 15 minute walk to better bars and food. If there is more than 4 people I would suggest looking around to find a 9 seater taxi as it works out much cheaper than 2 cars (We have left a card in the villa for one) All in all I thought the villa / pool / owners where absolutely amazing and I couldnt have asked for better. I would highly recommend this villa to people and will defiantly be coming back myself. We all had a truely amazing holiday / hen party. Thank you very much xxx

Owner reply:
We were nervous about 8 girls raiding the villa. But you were no problem at all. So, you can all come back until you are all married off, having the hen night with us, then you can all return with your husbands.....not all at the same time though!! Joe and Maria.

Me and 7 others shared this Villa for the first week of June for my Hen holiday, and although it is a quiet area, there were places that kept us up until early hours of the morning just 5 minutes walk from the villa. The Villa was beautiful - pure luxury. The pool is much bigger than it looks on the photographs - we were all pleasantly surprised. I would suggest walking for 15 minutes to find better restaurants than those found locally - im sure Joe and Maria can help you find them (They are easy to get to) The owners were fantastic - they picked us up from the airport and gave us a 5 minute tour of the villa. The service was exceptional. They put in bunk beds in one room so we all were very comfortable, they brought round another two new sun beds so we had one each, and there was a bottle of wine in each room on arrival - it really did feel like we were being looked after - I would definately reccomend this villa to anyone.

Stayed May 09 - the villa was very clean and the pool had just been given an overhaul. The villa is set on a mature, extensive and safe urbanization and is ideal for a quiet and peaceful holiday. It is set only a short walk (5 mins) from around half a dozen bars and restaurants offering good value meals and a good local supermarket. The friendly villa owners met us on arrival and provided a quick tour of the property which was very welcome. Worthwhile hiring a car to get about and see the local areas, in particular, the very good local beach which is a few minutes by car.

Nice, comfortable, well furnished property in a quiet area and a minute from shops, restaurants and bars etc. Kids were in the pool all week with plenty of sun loungers around the great pool area. I recommend hiring a car as beaches and larger towns a few minutes drive but easily accessible. Villa owner was absolutely brilliant, couldnt do enough for us and made our stay even better, will also pick up and dro p off at Airport for half the price of a taxi - a super week, thank you Joe!

Absolutely first class. The villa is beautiful and in private well established garden. We ate oranges from their tree (owners told us too!) and put fresh lemon slices in our vodka. Maybe we were too drunk to remember the whole holiday, but we clearly remember when we arrived, and the WOW factor is WOW + Will be back! We run out of vodka, but their was plenty of oranges and lemons left. You need to plant a vodka tree!!!

Oh my goodness, I have just realised that I didnt review this property when we holidayed there in April 2006!! Well I loved it so much that I have to look at the villas pictures on the website every now and then to re-live the wonderful holiday that we had. The villa is superb with everything you could wish for on hand for a family of 7. The kids even braved the pool which was very chilly in early April. It was a lovely holiday and I smile when I think of it. We cooked meals in the kitchen which functioned very well and made good use of the bar-b-que. I even went home with all the laundry clean after using the washing machine. We had a lovely time and I would fully recommend it to all. I look forward to returning one day soon I hope.

My family and I have just returned from 7 wonderful days at this villa. There were 6 adults and one 2 year old. The villa was clean and excellently decorated. There were ample toys/lilos to keep my Nephew occupied and many hours of fun were had by the pool by all. This villa is fully equiped with all a family needs for a relaxing break away. The area is largely populated by Brits so we made lots of friends during our stay. We were all very sad to leave and would consider booking again for next year! Would highly recommend Leja for airport transfers. Their knowledge of the area is invaluable. Many thanks for a wonderful holiday!!!

For our first ever Villa holiday we were suitably impressed with the facilities and local amenities it had everything we wanted and more (only thing to be improved would be sunbeds and cushions in need of a change) A clean comfortable villa, and excellent pool that our kids lived in! A relaxing and quiet location and local restaurants reasonably priced - would recommend Patagonias if you like Steak. Will be back again next year.

Owner reply:
Glad you enjoyed the villa, and happy to see, you have rebooked already. the pillows have now been replaced. As for the deck chairs, we will change them.....again!!! Just changed them in March this year. I think the strong Spainish sun is making the plastic brittle. Cannot belive they didnt last the year. Will try the canvass and aluminium type maybe this time.
See you next year!!

We kept changing the old style ones every 3-4 months or so, and the new LED coloured ones wont need changing for 10 years or more. It didnt take long to change, but I am sure they are better than the plain white ones? Our villa is so solidly booked until October, that it would have been a shame to let our guests miss out on this. Only the best, brand new technology for our guests!

Another great stay in this lovely, well equipped villa! We like it so much well be returning later this year. As always Leja were very helpful with the rides to and from the airport, the pool was kept sparkling clean during our stay , and even the owner stopped by to make sure everything was fine for us. Cant wait to come back again!

Just booked for the third time? Its a pleasure to have over again. You are very welcome anytime.

The propery itself was excellent but needed some airing as it smelt very damp and the bedding and pillows felt very damp. The pool was great and met our excpectations but unfortunately the weather did not. I would recommend this villa to anyone but would advise on renting a car as there is not much within the area a few local shops, resturants and bars. All in all i would return to the villa again.

Owner reply:
The villa has NEVER suffered from damp! However you were very unlucky to have got caught in the flash floods, (the worst Spain has seen for 150 years) which resulted in extreme dampness (and flooding, although we weren't affected by this) for everyone. I understand you needed a lot of heating as it was cold outside, so within a couple weeks these damp spots occurred. They have been cleared and an additional de-humidifier filter has been added to the AirCon/heating which should mean this wont happen again. Sorry the weather was so bad, but I know you still enjoyed your stay. It can only be nicer weather next time! This was Extreme by any standards, and definitely not the norm for Spain.

We had a lovely stay in this villa for a week in October, inside was very spacious and nicely decorated. The pool was great, a good size and clean! The area around the villa was quiet, just a short walk away were shops, restaurants, a park and a disco. We didn't have a car but found the local amenities very sufficient. When the rain came there was plenty to do indoors, with satellite tv, dvd's and a cd player (with cd's included - really enjoyed those!!) Also thanks to Lee and Tony from Leja, the airport pickup (and return) was hugely appreciated! All in all great service. We will definitely be back.

Myself and 5 friends booked this villa for 1 week as a base for our golfing trip and we were more than happy with the villa. Booking was easy on the website instrctions and advice from the owner were invaluable. Being met at the airport and taken directly to the villa takes all stress and pressure away. Thanks Joe for the tip and thanks Tony for meeting us and thanks Lee for organising it. The villa was spotlessly clean on arrival which is most important as a first impression, add to this the size, layout, decor and comfort of this villa (talk about wow factor!) I would definately reccommend this villa to anyone YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED!! In short what a villa! what a location ! what a holiday ! Pity we spoiled it with our attempt at playing golf!!!

We had an excellant stay at Villa Maria, it far exceeded the photos which do not do it complete justice.... shops & restaurants are just up the road, Victorias Chinese Restaurant is the best...best chinese I've ever had. The pool is actually a lot bigger then it looks in its photo...the kids loved it, was in there all the time...even at night when its all lit up, it looks and is great. Joe & Maria were in Spain when we were there and popped round to see that we were alright and had every thing that we needed...which we did, the villa is extremly well equiped. Recommend a trip to the market which is about 15-20 min walk away but worth it...take a look. If you have a B-B-Q go to Mr Lambs the butcher up the road, does a really good selection of meats and bits.... and is really helpful. La Marina is a nice, quite relaxing place ( which is what we wanted ), but if you want to get about a bit the local car hire is very reasonable. There's loads more that I could say but would take for ever putting it down. Would and will definatley come back to Villa Maria again..... we had a great time...cheers.

No problems at all with the villa, very comfortable and clean the area was quiet, too quiet for teenagers. Might suggest a welcome pack i.e. water, bread, milk etc just saves having to find somewhere straight away. Other villa companies provide this. Also it might be better if you provide a pool/table tennis table for the use of. Would recommend to our friends.

Owner reply:
Thanks for the comments, but the "welcome packs" are available? It says on the website. People arrive at late times, need water, milk etc.. so of course its an option. Please just ask the management company to prepare one. We are are going to put out a game or 2, that is a good idea indeed! Have to find something that doesn't lose balls or parts, but I will find something soon.

Let's start with the cons! the only nuisance was the maintenance guy next door who blasted bad hard rock for 3 solid hours twice during the week and would not turn it down, even when asked politely. A dishwasher and a big salad bowl would be nice. Otherwise, we had an excellent stay in the villa. The furniture and brown goods are very nice. The children were delighted with the pool and the lemon tree. Everything was nice and tidy. It was very convenient to have Supervalue just at the top of the street. We used the deep freezer to stock on ready made food and cut down on kitchen chores. When we arrived, the water of the swimming pool was so clear it looked as if there was no depth at all. Good job i didn't complain because the pool was perfect ! I'd recommand this villa any time.

Owner reply:
Very sorry about the maintenance man. No idea who he is, but next door will be contacted now, and he will never work there again! Our neighbours are very nice, and they wont stand for this....they dont even like good rock, so goodbye to that maintenance guy! Salad bowl is on its way! Dishwasher? Only had 2 requests in 4 years, is it really so important? I take everyones comments seriously, and fix them quickly, but I am still thinking on that one. ALWAYS contact Lee at our management company in case of ANY problems. He quickly helps.

We have just returned from a family holiday at this great villa. The villa had everything a family of 6 would need, including most mod-cons. The pool and patio area were bigger than the pictures suggested and were very much appreciated as we had some excellent weather. The inflatable toys for the pool were also much appreciated by my two children (both under 5). We had an excellent holiday in this property and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Facilities excellent. Villa very clean on arrival.Directions need improving, it's easy to find the supermarket but then the one way system confuses the directions.Plenty of restaurants to choose from, recommend going to the other commercial centre because there is a greater selection of places to eat.Wanted to eat at a beach restaurant but found that end of May was too early in the season and lot's of places were still closed. The Supavalue and International supermarkets were very well stocked. You can get English newspapers daily at the kiosk outside the Supavalue. Pool at villa was lovely and was used daily (excellent weather!) My only recommendation for the villa would be a dishwasher.

Owner reply:
It is confusing with the one way system, so I really strongly recommend airport pickup, from a local trustworthy Brit we have on hand. However now there is a "villarenters" map link which shows clearly the marked out route you should follow. We are 200 meters from Supa Value, so you cannot get too lost, but the Spanish have one way streets in every village now.

Very impressed with the beautiful villa and very very nice gardens. The trees have grown. You need new photos to give it justice. Private poolman cleaned our pool 3 times in one week. Pool was spotless! Cold, but we still enjoyed it, even in March! La marina is not bad at all. Some people critisize La Marina, but its not fair! It has a real "homely" feel. there are Italian ,German, Indian, Chineese and a few Spanish. We found it to be pleanty. Car is a good idea, we only had one for the last 3 days, and that was enough. La marina beach, with the Pine forest on the beach, is just what the doctor ordered! Shade, sun, or sea within 10 strides in either direction. Thanks Joe and Maria for your help, and really big thank you to Lee in Spain. He is a gem, and made our stay very comfortable. We felt like A King and Queen! We will be back soon, we promise you.

We liked the villa ,it was good enough for the size of my family if you have children then a car is essential, as there is nothing to do at this location, and the kids would not enjoy it, its quiet and peaceful and would siut anyone looking for that type of holiday, Talk to the locals in the local bars(La Marina Andy) if you require taxis to go anywhere as they are cheaper and they can arrange for you to be dropped of back at Alicante airport or take you wherever you want to go

Owner reply:
There is park a stones throw away, and pleanty of bars and food place just a 5 minute walk away. Plenty of our guests never hired a car, and never missed it. But a car will always give you more choice as with any location.

The villa itself was very good. Tidy and homely. La Marina Urbanizacíon is very British, which is great if that's what you're looking for. There were a number of shop, bars and restaurants near by. We had a bit of rain while we were there so we couldn't really use the pool, but i'm sure we would have, weather permitting (it looked great!) There are a number of local taxi drivers (cheaper than Spanish) who are happy to go to Alicante and Torrevieja which are both more lively than La Marina

Myself, my husband, my mother and father, and mother-in-law and her friend all stayed for a week at this lovely villa. The villa was clean and tidy. Lee - the managing agent - met us at the Supavalue store and took us to the villa and showed us how to work the alarm etc - which was very simple to use. Unfortunately we couldn't use the pool as the water was too cold - however, the weather was very hot and sunny - beautiful. We hired a car and drove around - spent a lot of time down at La Marina beach - was bliss. The villa had everything you need - we even used the washing machine! Would definitely stay again and would definitely recommend to friends. Joe and Maria have been fantastic. If I had any queries before the arrival, Joe was very quick in responding - thank you Joe and Maria for lending us your beautiful villa. Hope to book again soon.

Lovely walks on the beach which is just a 5 minute car journey away from the villa. Drove up to Benidorm which is 40 minutes away, Makes a great day out! Had a great one week holiday at the villa. Met all my expectations and more. The owners have thought of absolutely everything to make the stay a comfortable one. The air conditioning system also had heat which was needed at night as we would have frozen without it. I didnt realise that Spain could get so cold at night in November! However the days were beautiful with temps well in the 20's. The kids still went in the pool and the pool toys were a superb idea! The villa is simply spectacular inside and out. The photos do not give the villa any justice. Once you open the private gates- you then get the full story. To be honest, the Villa was actually bigger than we had antisipated- which was a plus! We would like to thank the management company and the owners of the villa for making our stay at Villa Maria a perfect one. We will for sure be recommending the villa and will be coming back next year - This time, in the summer!

This is a lovely villa that was eactly as described on the web site. The instructions we received for locating the villa and picking up the key were inadequate, fortunately a contact telephone number was provided and the key holder came to us and led us to the Villa. The beaches of La Marina, 10 minute drive, were excellent. The area around the villa was very quiet during our stay in mid september. The main disapointment for us was that the selection of restarunts available in the local area. All seemed to be run by english people serving traditional english food.

Very private unlike the other properties we saw close by. Lovely private pool. I would recommend the owner Joe Furmanek has a netted cover you can pull over the pool when not in use to prevent Gechos and other animals/wildlife falling into the pool, which is not too pleasant when you about to swim in the morning to discover dead bees, flys and little lizards. Would have been nice if the pool lights had worked at night to illuminate the Pool, but we were told they were broken which was a shame, and they have been for a little while according to the property management agency The villa was clean, very homely, the AC is definately a good thing and we especially liked the fact that the outdoor shower, by the pool had hot running water. We made use of the TV and Stereo and the local Spanish Supermarket is close by which helps as we didn't have the use of a car. Malcolm our driver who met us at the Airport, from the Property management company was extremely kind, most helpful and informative about the area and the people and what to be careful of whilst staying in Alicante. We found him to be a a very nice man and trustworthy. Lee at Leja villas was also most helpful in the planning of our holiday. The weather was fantastic whilst there and we hada lovely relaxing, lazy time. Just what the Doctor ordered. Many thanks - Hazelle Woodhurst and the girls - Erika, Zoe, Kate & Gail

Owner reply:
Unfortunately, bees do fall in the water, (never heard, or seen of a Gecho doing that though!) but the pool pump will skim them out of the pool, so no one ever uses netting. The pool lights were burnt out
the previous occupants left them on night and day. I have ordered LED replacements which last a lot longer and consume less power. They will be here any day now. In August, everything in Spain closes down apart from tourist attractions! Difficult to get anything fixed in that month. But from what I hear you want to come back, and you will have your pool lights, I guarantee, the next time.

Regards Joe and Maria.

Had a superb stay at Villa Maria. the villa without doubt has be be one of the best on this website, and we have been to a few. Never seen a better on up to now. Just walking in the front door shows its visited and lived in by the owners. Quality of the furniture, and attention to detail makes this villa stand above head and shoulders from the rest. The area is great. within a couple minutes walk you have the bars and resturants, and yet you cannot hear from the villa. You can see them from the sun terrace, but hear them not. the beach is a 5 minutes drive and a car is recommended, but not 100 % must, at all, especially if you want a lazy relaxing holiday, with good bars up the road. Make no mistake about it, this is a cut above the rest. Too many classy and expensive touches to make this "another rental". Joe and Maria the owners took the effort to call us back and arrange another crib (we have twinns!)and they said they frequently visit the villa, and it really obvious to see. Furniture was expensive it didn't have the cheap feel as so many other villa's we visited. Pool was bigger than we expected, and the Garden will trimmed. we will be back for sure. felt right at home from the first day. Even the bars and resturants up the road were really homely. This villa met our expectations in every way. The service from the maintenance company via the owners was excellent. Our washing machine broke down and was replaced with a brand new one the next day. Unfortunately, the pool was too cold to get much use out of at this late stage in the season, but that was our choice to go when it was slightly cooler. Our only complaint is that the 2 porn channels on Sky were too easily accessed by our children. Close enough to the shops/bars etc but not so close as to cause a noise nuisance. Overall, a great place to stay.

Owner reply:
The 24 hour porn channels started broadcasting about 2 months ago without us realizing. NOBODY complained until now. The old receiver didn't need a "parental Lock", and never had one. We have just brought the new reciever that does have parental control, so the customer now has the ability to control this. This is NOT a normal Sky system, as in the UK. New channels are added all the time, and the "European" attitude towards porn is much more tolerant than the British. We are also parents so control is important. Its now fixed.

The Villa was very comfortable and felt as if we were staying in someone's home rather than a 'holiday' home. The only problem we had was when the water was turned off in the town a couple of times during the week - obviously this is nothing to do with the owners. I would definitiely recommend to friends and we will probably go back again in the future.

Owner reply:
As with everywhere in Spain, electricity can just be switched off at any time with no warning! We have had emergency lights fitted that automaticly come on. Never heard of the water being switched off, but I have since leaned over 4000 homes were effected for an hour or so twice in a week. But that is definately nothing to do with us. This will probably not happen again, but Spain wouldn't be Spain if something didn't go out, sometime! Joe and Maria.

The villa itself was absolutely beautiful, couldn't fault it. i must say however that this is very much a residential resort, thus a car is required in order to explore nearby livelier resorts and beech. For a totally peaceful break in the sun with a spotless home from home feel this is the place to go. Just a small note to bear in mind, a Cleaning charge of 80 euros is payable on departure!! (this was not mentioned on villarenters.)

Owner reply:
The area is not Benidorm but just 5 minutes walk up the road, there are many bars, resturants and you don't have to drink and drive! The villa is about 15 minutes drive away from one of the most lively resorts there is. As for the cleaning fee, it IS on the website listed as 50 GBP (about 80 euro) and is to be paid locally. Owners and property managers can choose to take payment in GBP, Euros or US Dollars. Whilst you can view all properties in one currency to help compare prices, you will be charged in the currency indicated on the advert. You can book & pay in exactly the same way but the price quoted may vary slightly to the amount on your card statement depending on the exchange rate on the dates you pay your deposit and balance.

Breakage Waiver: The owner requires you to pay this fee which covers you for any potential breakages. It is insurance against accidental breakages during your holiday, meaning you do not need to pay any breakage deposit.
