We were not sure what to expect and were happily surprised when we arrived. The view from the balcony really is like in the photos and the beach is less than a stones throw away.
The beach is wonderful and there are a number of places to eat within easy walking distance (we recommend La Bussola - a fantastic Italian restaurant on the beach, about ten minutes walk south along the road outside the apartment complex).
Thoroughly recommended.
PS: Dont forget repellent for the ubiquitous mosquitoes!

Had a very bad experience with renting this unit. I emailed the owner about initially renting this unit with several questions I had and he NEVER replied. I went ahead and booked anyway with villarenters.com but when I arrived at Antigua Village they did not have any record of my booking. Apparently it is the owners responsibility to place the booking with Antigua Village. If I had not brought along my booking confirmation, reception would have turned me away. I didnt get the requested unit until the people in it checked out, which was a day later. Instead we got a bad unit with rusted out appliances and poor furnishings. The owner, Mr Day, didnt respond to this problem until 5 days AFTER our arrival and only offered to "perhaps we can liaise upon your return" ... whatever that is supposed to mean. If you are thinking about renting this unit be aware you may not have a room when you arrive and if there is a problem dont expect the owner to do anything for you... defiantly not quickly anyway. We also rented another unit (Property ref: 86907 ) and it was a nice place and the owners of that unit had everything looked after and responded quickly to all questions. When we did finally get to move into this unit it was nice except for a extremely hard bed. We lost several days of vacation due to this error with no help from this owner. Left with a bad taste and wont return here.

Add did not match what we found.Other than a poor paint job, kitchen was in a poor condition, cooker did not work properly and fridge was rusty and had trays missing.Bathroom shower unit base was cracked and doors did not work properly as screws loose and falling off.Furniture throughout looked old and well worn as did balcony furniture and one sunbed was damaged.None of the flyscreens fitted properly and we were deluged by flying and crawling insects.DVD player faulty. In our last week the roof over the bedroom leaked when it rained and made the floor slipery and dangerous. When i informed reception about these issues, i was told to contact the owner.

Excellent Studio Apartement (No. 49B) Really great for 1 /2 persons - I was there on my own, so it was just right for me.
Its very private, on the 1st floor with stairs to the apt. that were sort of concealed behind the block. Its bright and had 2 TV s which were quuite addictive esp. the bedroom one!! The maintenance man Jason was very helpful ehen the fuse blew out due to a storm and very efficient too and were Jennifer and Desiree.
the ladies at the reception.
The open balcony overlooks the Caribbean sea which is just 6 steps away - I would just take away some palm trees to enhance the view though!! The kitchen utensils were plentiful and the bathroom water pressure was great too even though the apt. is on the 1st floor.
Im not a fuupot for furniture as such - the owner did have modern furnoture put in - though I would consider having a harder mattress intead - bit too soft that one and had bit of back pain! :)
Having said that the apt. was close to 2 restaurants thoguht Putters across the road os xcellent too! The sea was great and warm - just the typoe of place to go to when youve had a stressful year!! Beach, sand, warm sea and relaxation all day long - I didnt want to leave at all!! Was there for over 2 weeks and felt afe at all times!! Id definitely recommend it to anyone - the owner was very communicative when I needed to ask him stuff - pity I didnt save up - Id have bought the apt, myself )

Property was nice and close tonthe beach. We enjoyed especially the close location tonthe sea which resulted in a refreshing dive even before breakfest. Slight remark is the leaking shower and the one matres double bed. Rest was good. The surrounding and especially the gardens were stunning, beatiful. For a sea and watersport holiday good. Rest of the iland not so much to do or see. Missed some old english historic places and buildings.

Unbelievable situation - Upmarket well- maintained site. We enjoyed our stay enormously, but feel that the property could benefit from up-grading. Fortunately all maintenance problems were quickly handled by the on-site maintenance team. Would love to go again.

Well positioned, virtually on beach, accommodation on first floor (second floor in US terms), not overlooked.
Lack of shade on balcony can be a problem - we took sun umbrellas with us. Accommodation could do with a bit of TLC: bathroom, needs updating, DVD player not working, burners on stove mostly not working (take matches).
However, very nice beach, sea good for swimming and watersports. Antigua village complex well maintained with good pool.
Reasonable restaurants in walking distance, although need to get taxi or car to a supermarket - small shop on site, plus daily visit from fruit and veg lady. Taxis can be expensive, so check before you travel!

This property is perfectly situated on its own private golden sandy beach positioned just feet form the sea. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed our stay immensely. it has been by far the best holiday we have been on. Perfect for just chilling out in the hot sun. It was beautiful being able to up each morning and lookout across a spectacular view. We enjoyed ourselves so much there that we decided to get married right their down on our beach. We found the staff that worked there to be extremely polite and helpful as we called on them as witnesses. We would recommend this place to everyone and we ourselves are planning on returning very soon. It was a perfect holiday to which we will never forget.

We would definitely rent this apartment again and would recommend it to friends and family.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The location is perfect and the view stunning. We enjoyed walking the bay every day and listening to the sound of the waves sending us to sleep at night. We liked having beach bars close by that we could easily walk to and had some excellent meals in them. We also cooked meals in the apartment and enjoyed them on the balcony looking out to sea. The apartment is very comfortable, although the bathroom would benefit from some modernisation. And at times we found there was insufficient hot water for showering and washing up etc. The reception people were very friendly and helpful and all the staff made us feel very welcome. We would certainly like to stay here again.

Great overall position on beach with wonderfull views. Some cover over the patio would have been great. The apartment is basic but comfortable apart from the seating inside leather and heat do not go well together.
The maids are very efficient and very friendly as are the staff at the reception drinks evening.
Very relaxing venue as it was quiet in August not sure how it would change if it were busy as space in garden/beach areas were popular.
Will visit again as it was an overall agreeable holiday. Car needed for visiting the island a must!

A nice property overall, especially for the price. If you are looking for top luxury, go elsewhere - if you want good value for your money, beautiful surroundings (best around Antigua) and everything else you basically need for a very relaxing holiday, this property is a very recommendable choice. We had it rented for two weeks, November 2009. But, do rent a car for a day or two and see what the island has to offer.

A really lovely properlty in a beautiful location right on the beachfront. Only a 20 second walk down to the sea - we went for a swim every morning and were the only people there. A short walk to the white sandy beach which is slightly further along where there are a few pleasent places to eat and drink. Antigua Village grounds are v well kept and its was definitely worth paying the extra for a daily maid and the air con. Shop on site had everything you would need though hiring a car is worthwhile to get to the supermarket and generally around the island. Overall we had a fantiastic time here and would definitley return to both the apartment and Antingua.

We visited this property in April 2009 and had the most wonderful holiday. It really is a dream destination and my now husband proposed to me on the beach and we bought the ring in Antigua too!! The two restaurants near the property are a really good standard and perfect for cosy romantic dinners or fun and cocktails. I would definitely return to this accomodation as we found it private and perfect for a couples getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay & found the apartment to be the perfect place to chill out !.
Well situated at the quiet end of the beautiful Dickensons Bay Beach overlooking the crystal clear Carribean Sea.
This was our 23rd visit to the Islands & if you like us, hate all inclusive packages it`s the perfect soloution to enjoy a beachfront location normally reserved for Hotels.
The Apartment was clean & well equipped, staff at the Resort friendly & helpful.
I was nervous about booking online as it was the first time I had done it.
The booking was easy with very good comunication, it was a piece of cake !!!!.
Would recomend this holiday home !!!.

Antigua is a fantastic place to go & if you are also thinking about booking this apartment then DEFINITELY DO! - You will bot be disappointed at all..
The location is excellent (one of the best for sure) - a stones throw away from a lovely beach & right next door to a great restaurant.
The apartment itself is perfect too - very clean & well equipped with an excellent daily maid service .
The pool is also close-by & the gardens are well maintained.
Looking forward to a return visit one day....10 out of 10 & not to be missed!

our little flat was right at the back overlooking Dickenson bay right next to Coconut Grove restaurant. The views and weather were stunning and the beach great. We had our own terrace and sunbeds and enjoyed sitting out there watching the sea and the world going past.

We loved Antigua. Loved the apartment, we thought it was probably in the best position on the complex.Very comfortable. Excellent maid service. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We've read the other reviews, and personally had no problems with any of the points raised, but were glad of the warning about the steps, as we took extra care in the wet.
We liked the Italian Restaurant (La Bussola). The Jumbo Shrimp are out of this world and they have a very good wine list. It's not cheap but you can make up for it by going to the Chip Van (which I'm surprised no-one has mentioned, also excellent) on another night. The only bad meal we had the entire holiday was lunch at Jolly Beach one day.
We were lucky enough to be there during the Stanford 20/20 Cricket tournement and spent 2 evenings at the Sticky Wicket watching. Ticket prices there include a buffet meal and it is a great night out.
We hope to visit Antigua again and would definitely stay here.

We had a fantastic holiday, we both loved Antigua and the Antiguan Village Beach Club is a great place to stay. We liked the freedom of eating in different local restaurants such as Coconut Grove, The Beach and Papa Zouks. We also liked going into St John's at sundown and enjoying a beer on the habour as the cruise ships sailed out. I would recommend some of the local tours such as Paddles Ecotour, Prickly Pear Island and the Wadadli Cat round island trip. The apartment was fine and in a very good position, however I would agree with a few of the previous reviewers that the kitchen and bathroom could do with a spuce up, also the steps do get very slippery after a downpour and this does need to be fixed. But overall these are very minor points.

A beautiful location and fabulous complex of privately owned properties, the gardens full of palms and banana trees and pool area were gorgeous and very peaceful. The apartment location is fabulous with a lovely sea view.
I thoroughly recommend Antigua and we had a really relaxing and comfortable stay.
If I had to offer any negative view and for the sake of an honest review the kitchen and bathroom at the apartment could do with a revamp as slightly old and tired however ceratinly did not marr the enjoyment of a great holiday. Great maid service and security on site, taxis readily available - see Sylvester (in the car park)for a great taxi service.

We had a wonderful stay in Antigua Village, and would stay here again definately. The villa was probably the best situated in the entire village as it was so close to the beach and restaurant, and the gardens were beautiful as well as the other views.
Unfortunately, our first day was met with a bit of a disaster, as following a tropical storm, the painted concrete steps to the villa were very wet. My wife slipped on these wet steps and landed very heavily on her hip and back, which caused massive bruising, but fortunately no fractures otherwise our holiday would have been ruined. In this respect, I suggest that the steps are roughened and not painted, and that a suitable wooden handrail is fixed to the wall, as their is nothing to grasp when ascending or descending these steps. The curved top of the wall alongside the steps is unsuitable, as this too is very slippery when wet and not narrow enough to grasp should you slip. My wife tried to grasp the top of the wall but slipped even worse as a result scraping her hand badly down the rough rendered wall. Fortunately, apart from severe bruising, there were no serious injuries.
This should be sorted out as a priority as some other person may not be so lucky. All other villas in Antigua Village appear to have a suitable handrail where necessary and roughend steps / not painted.
The water pressure from the bathroom sink is very low, and takes ages to fill.
Mosquito netting within the villa is not very effective as they are ill fitting allowing lizards and other unwelcome visitors in.
The services for the villa were superb and we were very well looked after as regards clean linen, towels etc.
Overall, the villa was beautiful and generally well kept and we hope that we can stay here again, as long as a handrail is fitted for the steps.
Thankyou for a wonderful holiday in a wonderful place.

Just as described the standard of furnishings in our apartment were second to none and the view from the balcony of the Caribbean were just breathtaking. This property advertises walking glass in hand to the beach and we did indeed do just that most evenings to enjoy the sunset.
The Antigua Village staff in general are lovely friendly people and the reception area in the resort was more than helpful. They have information on just about anything you could wish to do...eating, drinking, car hire, sailing, snorkelling, day trips, swim with dolphins - you get the idea - even an aromatherapy/massage service & no we didn't try it!
If we could offer any holiday tips we would have to recommend the Lobster Shack restaurant which offers a free taxi service there & back from the resort (just pre book at reception). It is only a few minutes away and the food and service was as good as we had on the island. If you are feeling lazy there is another beachfront restaurant called The Coconut Grove, not quite as good but literally on your doorstep and handy for breakfast. Also worth trying are the island catamaran tour which collects opposite sandals.
The shop in the resort will happily get you by for day to day provisions but if you intend to self cater and cook evening meals etc, as we did, I would suggest (for approx £10.00 return) a taxi to the Epicurean supermarket at the Woods Centre. Easily on a par with supermarkets back home except the wine and spirits are significantly cheaper!
During our stay we made a few friends and spent a little time in some other units - safe to say ours was easily one of the nicest and we now have competition if we decide to book again next year.
In summary if you are looking for that extra bit of luxury in a paradise setting I would certainly recommend this apartment - it certainly lived up to our expectations and we are very grateful to the owners for all their help and advice beforehand as it provided a lovely holiday.
