Very well cared for beautiful chalet in stunning surroundings, including a wide variety of outdoor pursuits, spectacular nature, excellent restaurants. Expect to hear the sounds of crickets, cowbells and church bells.

My wife, myself, and our adult daughter spent a very happy 6 days in this beautiful house. There is lots to do in the local area, and plenty of good places to eat, but it was quite tempting just so sit on the terrace and enjoy the sun, the view and the silence. Pretty well the perfect place for a restful holiday.

The property is well equipped and cosy. Ideal for a couple looking for a retreat in a lovely quiet mountain meadow. 10 minutes down winding mountain road into beautiful soca valley and chilled town of Kobarid. Great restaurants in area too. We had a wonderful week in June 2012.

So kindly and well taken care of by the hosts from the very first e-mail contact. Expectations were high and surely not disappointed. A well equipped and beatifully located cottage - what a lovely place.

Owner reply:

We enjoyed every day in the chalet. It was great to sit outside, also we slept so well. It was quit, only the bells of the church ring and the fox visited us at night. We relaxed at the the stay and also we could make a hike every day. Stay there and enjoy too.

I have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years and this one beat the lot for location, scenery, peace and quiet. The owners email communications were prompt, informative and friendly, and the welcome pack was comprehensive and greatly appreciated: we felt instantly at home. The cottage itself is cosy, comfortable and thoughtfully equipped. There are countless scenic walks, activities and things to explore within easy reach, and although it has a remote feel, you are only a 10 minute drive from a supermarket in the nearest town.

A great location and a cosy comfortable cottage full of character, warm and welcoming on arrival. Welcome pack exceeded expectations and was a great boost for the first night. Situation means easy access to Italy and Austria with some of Europes best scenery on your doorstep. Whether its a quiet retreat or a base for adventure sports you want we couldnt recommend it more.

We spent a week at the cottage Livek. Firstly, we thank the owners for the specific information they have provided us with the greatest kindness. The retreat is located in an idyllic location. Can not find better in this respect in the Valley of SOCA. The cottage itself is simply beautiful. This is the "Little House on the Prairie" ... no more no less ... Its location is also very interesting. A few minutes from Tolmin, Bovec and Kobarid. This is an excellent accommodation for a family with one or two children away from the roads and of stress and danger. One word .... Slovenia is a beautiful country where life is good and that we leave with regret. Thanks to Mr. Musto and his family who have allowed us to live these moments of happiness. A fantastic place to stay in a quite and peaceful environment full of great views and beautiful flowers. The "Retreat" is very well equipped and maintained with the stove giving it a special cosy atmosphere especially when there is a thunder storm outside. The welcome-pack with all sorts of food was a nice surprise and very useful because we arrived late at the weekend.

Unique, idyllic mountain hideaway situated within a beautiful wildflower meadow - great location for hiking and seeing the WW1 history. Felt very welcome with food, walking information, log burning fire and all that we would need ready and waiting for us on arrival! Great value for low season. Recommend with no hesitation.

the location of the property is wonderful - it really sits on its own in the middle of nowhere with fantastic views of the valleys and mountains. The property itself is small and without mod cons but its cosy and clean and has a lovely terrace and sun loungers! We had a fantastic time and would love to return. Our 4 year old kids loved it too.

The Retreat is a beautiful, peaceful chalet. No neighbours, and spectacular views. We went for 1 week of our 2 week Slovenian honeymoon, and it was the epitome of relaxation, and peace and quiet. Great location - near several hikes, activities, beautiful villages and towns, and within easy reach of Italy, with Venice only 2 hours drive. The chalet is exceptionally well equipped and the owners were incredibly helpful throughout the booking process and during the stay. We would definitely recommend The Retreat, and are hoping to return there in the future - maybe to see the snow of the Julian Alps.

We have just returned from 9 nights at the Retreat and I would go back tomorrow if I could. It was fabulous, everything I had hoped for and more. There were just the 2 of us, and we found the chalet to be very clean and well equipped for our needs - and a lovely welcome pack. I had to find a bottle of the same wine to bring home! I always look for the perfect place, and this was it. Quiet, peaceful, not next to anybody else, gorgeous scenery and views and within reach of good places to eat. The only noises were those of the countryside which beats living in a busy city any day. The weather wasnt brilliant during our stay, but we managed a couple of BBQs - perfect evenings. We ate nearby a few times - although you do have to drive about 5K to get to any restaurants. We also treated ourself to a meal in a posh restaurant one night (Hisa Franko s ), which was superb. I cant recommend the Retreat highly enough if you like walking and beautiful scenery and the perfect peaceful location. The locals are so friendly and helpful and everywhere is very clean. I would go back without any hesitation.

The Retreat is located high above the Soca valley about 10 minutes drive from Kobarid. It is beside a road. The view is out over a side valley rather than the surrounding mountains but is lovely. The garden is not especially private or enclosed but it does get the sun all day and well into the evening. The property has good accomodation for a couple and 2 kids Although the kitchen is small it is well equipped for self catering. The main bedroom is accessed through the smaller bedroom which might be a problem for 2 couples sharing. The stairs are not especially child friendly but can be closed off upstairs with a door. In essence a great location for those wanting to explore the Julian Alps!

A real mountain chalet - magical. Great building and fantastic location, vgood welcome pack. Lots of activities in the area, diy walks etc on the doorstep or drive 15mins to Kobarid for rafting etc etc. We did 4 activities with X-Point who were excellent. Would book again - maybe when there is snow on the ground.

We loved the our time at the chalet. The location was perfect, extremely beautiful and about half a kilometre from the nearest village. We found it to be very well equipped, and very cosy. The kitchen was quite small, but it was adequate for our needs, the only thing that may have been useful was a washing machine, other than that it was perfect. We had an amazing honeymoon there and will definately be returning.

A fantastic property in a special location. The accommodation was immaculate and fully equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay in the mountains. A wonderful welcome pack awaited us allowing us to sample some Slovenian delights as soon as we arrived! The surrounding area is stunning walking country and is well served by excellent local restaurants, friendly bars and numerous activity providers. Definately recommend to others, check it out.

The property was very warm and welcoming with a great atmosphere. Although rural and quiet we found that we were in a good poisiton to visit many places of interest. The welcome pack and information file gave it a very professional feel. All three family members would use the retreat again!
