We arrived late at 10.30pm and despite us communicating we would be late and having read that check-in was from 5pm onwards we were told off immediately by the lady who runs the property. This was hard to take having travelled for 12 hours with cranky and tired baby twins.
From then on, the people who ran it blew hot and cold with us. One minute they were very friendly and helpful and the next they were gruff and sometimes even rude and shouting! We learnt along the holiday that they were in the process of moving house as they were leaving the property in 2 weeks and handing it back to the owners to run so I think they were very stressed out.
I also found it a little strange that we shared a balcony with them yet we werent allowed to sit out on the balcony (they were) and they smoked on it which wasnt great as it was next to our kitchen/sitting room and we could smell it while feeding the babies. We did however, have our own outside seating area to eat and also designated area by the pool. Again I was told off by the lady who runs it after another guest played with my baby girl on someone elses designated seat by the pool! She also insisted we play with the children in our own area despite other guests children playing with our babies in their area. To be honest it was a bit "rule crazy"! We were also told off for using the sofa bed in the communal area as we had enough beds! Yes we had enough beds but my mum needed to get away from my dads snoring!!!
On the last night my dad sat on one of our loungers by the pool which had a massive crack in it all holiday and broke it. The male owner was furious and told us to "the pool was closed. get out get out" when, according to the guest book, it should have still been open.
OK rant over! We did enjoy the property. Laterina is a beautiful and friendly little place and the accommodation was quaint and clean but the family room in Soppalco apartment wasnt suitable for toddlers as there werent any stair gates and big gaps between the bannisters.
These people are moving on soon so, if the new people who are running it are nice. I would definitely recommend it.

Allways a joy to stay here"
What a great place to stay. Clean apartments, good towels, nice pool and very
friendly people. Anna & Giorgio will make your stay a pleasant one. Ive been 5
times at Borgo Santa Maria. Its a good place to start exploring Tuscany.
Nearby Arezzo with its beautiful piazza, Florence in 45 minutes, Siena in 30
minutes. Nice.
