My friend and I have recently returned from a stay at this property, and have to say that it was amazing!! It had everything we needed in the cottage itself.. like a home from home. The location was great.. just a couple of minutes from the beach and a minute from the supermarket. We were so happy with it, that we have already re-booked to return. WE LOVE IT! :)

Very clean and well maintained. Great having landlord next door if assistance is required (propane was used up during a meal and they changed it immediately). Very friendly and hospitable to deal with. Good location. Easy access to grocery stores and beaches. Second time staying here and would do so again. Highly recommend.

We were very happy with our accommodation. Its located in a lovely, quiet community. Easy access to local transportation, close proximity to St. Johns and Dickensons Bay and the supermarket ( the latter within walking distance ) I highly recommend.

Nice little house far enough out of the city to be relaxing, close enough that its easy to get there. It was very clean. The kitchen had all the appliances you might want while on vacation, and enough utensils to use them. The owners pay attention to detail, from the good toilet paper to the stash of books available in case theres a rainy day. I would stay there again if I went back to Antigua.

We had the most lovely time. The villa is super value for money and the owners family, living close by, were absolutely great. Friendly, kind and helpful but not at all intrusive. The pretty villa in a pretty, well kept garden is ideally situated close to shops, beaches and restaurants. The villa was clean and tidy, the A.C. and fans wonderful. It was a super base for exploring the island. Ideally an extra mirror in the second bedroom, extra shelving or drawers etc. and cushions for the patio/terrace chairs would be brilliant. We didnt cook - this was a holiday afterall - so we found kitchen utensils/crockery adequate. Although a few more drinking glasses would have been handy. However overall, this is a super villa and as previously mentioned good value for money and we shall return.

We stayed for 2 weeks this September. Prior to arrival, all questions answered by the owner very helpfully. Property was in very good condition and the owners Mother, who lives next door was very helpful in answering any questions we had while we were staying at the property. Only downside was the occasional barking of dogs during the night. Useful supermarkets and a garage very close by. Under 10 minutes drive to Dickenson Bay. We would definitely recommend the property.

We had an awesome stay although the weather was rather rainy. Mrs. Paul was very accommodating and the children enjoy having a yard to play. We the sisters give this place 5 stars.

My boyfriend and I loved this place! It is clean, fresh and new with everything you could need including a washing machine and a clothes line to dry your clothes. Whilst being so close to the owners property, you have a sense of being secluded and alone. The owner is just lovely. She has just the right balance of being helpful when needed and leaving guests to enjoy their privacy. It is a 2 min drive to a good supermarket and a five minute drive to St Johns. To be honest, we felt more like it was our own home than a holiday rental. Its rare to find that. Absolutely wonderful. I cant recommend it enough. Thank you for your kind hospitality and hope to see you again. Hilary & Adrian.

The property seems fairly new and the pics represent the overall condition and feel - was very clean generally and the owners seemed very friendly. However, this is a self-catering property but was not equipped well enough to self-cater: three small cups and two small glasses for four people? Dont even think about having a glass of wine. The cooking pots and utensils were extremely old, dirty and falling apart, the sofa was broken on one side and very uncomfortable and the washing machine leaked all over the place. Towels were provided but they were in a terrible state: very old, threadbare and stained. Everything in the property, apart from the beds, seemed to be very second hand. The location is not great either on a busy road and directly opposite the oil refinery, right next door to the owners property too. No parking inside the gates when there is room for at least four cars mean you have park your hire car on the road outside which is unacceptable for paying guests on holiday. Only easy access is to two average beaches, everything else has to be accessed by driving through the middle of St Johns which can be very busy. If you have to visit Antigua, are on a tight budget and dont mind something that is OK for young back-packers then this property might be OK but if you want to sit back in comfort after a day on the beach with a glass of wine in privacy then spending a bit more might be well worth it in the long run.

Great property! Looks like a brand new cottage. You can walk to the beach, but it takes about 25 minutes. You really need a car to get out and enjoy the area.

Our stay at Friars hill was everything we hoped it could be. The property was very clean, well equipped and in a great location, close to everything. As we spent 2 weeks there, having a washing machine was wonderful. The property also had a hairdryer, ironing board and iron, air conditioning and fans in both bedrooms. Although you really didnt need the air conditioners as the house had a great breeze once you opened up the front and back doors. The owners were extremely pleasant and helpful and make you feel very comfortable. We have visited Antigua many times over the past 15 years and this was the best place we have rented to date. Great value for the price. Walking to get groceries and to the beach would be quite a trek but certainly possible. We rented a car as we like to tour the island. I would not hesitate to rent this property again on my next visit to Antigua or recommend it to friends and family. The only negative comment I can make is that not being able to park our rental car inside the gate was a bit of an inconvenience. Other than that, I give this property a 9 out of 10.

We would like to reflect many of the previous comments, for antigua and its location, this Cottage is outstanding value. The Cottage is clean and comfortable & the landlords who live adjacent to the Cottage are a smashing couple, very friendly and helpful without being obtrusive. It does lack cooking utensils & ovenware, which at times made cooking challenging, its probably now due for refreshing.A car is absolutely essential unless you really like walking, though Taxis are readily available & the buses are incredibly cheap. Most home owners appear to have dogs in Antigua, and at times you will pick up this noise from the neighbours, however this also adds to the security of the neighbourhood. Overall we would not hesitate to recommend this property to others.

Pros: The house was clean, beautiful and conviently located. The landlords were very nice and friendly. Overall: We were happy we chose this property and it is an extemely good value. It is located close to several beautiful beaches. There are 3 grocery stores within a few mile radius, one within walking distance. We would not hesitate to stay here again. cons: The description of the property showed secured parking inside the gate on the property. When we arrived we were told we could not park inside the gate even though there was adequate parking space, therefore we had to park on the street which required removing everything from the car each day. The kitchen had only 2 pots, 2 skillets, 2 glasses, adequate plates and utensils. No baking dishes or COFFEE maker. Inadequate kitchen supplies in my opinion. The refrigerator is extemely small which made it impossible to buy more than one day worth of food requiring daily trips to the store. The window coverings are sheer which provided no privacy. There were towels but no wash cloths for bathing.

The cottage was immaculately clean and we felt very safe there. The care-takers were extremely kind and generous and made us feel at home. Dickensen Bay is only a 1-1/2 mile walk, and grocery stores are also close-by. The wireless Internet service was great, but be sure to bring an international phone as the cottage did not have one.

My high school classmate and I rented the bungalow for 10 days in late July when we returned home for our High School reunio n. We loved the accommodations, it was just what we wanted..simple island comfort. My favorite place was the veranda at night, the breeze is excellent. The only drawback to the property was the gated entry. The owners parents have an adjacent house within the same grounds and there is a padlock maintained on the entrance gate. On arrival we were given 1 key, so unless we both had the same outing plans it became a nuisance to have to coordinate meeting somewhere or scheduling arriving back at the property at the same time to get access. A larger television and a mirror in the 2nd guestroom would also be some recommended upgrades. Overall it is still an excellent choice as it provides all the amenities and is well worth the price.

You need a car to be in this house. It is really well placed to visit St John and various beaches. The house is very clean and tidy and equipped to self cater or go out.

The house is the best value on the island. This was my 2nd time staying there in 2 months. I have recommended it to several medical students for their parents book when they are visiting. The couple next door seem like family now!

We spent two weeks in Antigua and would definitely recommend Friars Hill Cottage. It was outstanding value for money - clean, tastefully furnished and well equipped. We hired a car for the duration of the holiday which allowed us to see a lot of the island. We ate at a number of quality hotels but I wouldnt swap our chosen accommodation for anything we saw! My only request would be more mirrors - theres only one small one in the bathroom. As two girls, wed definitely have made use of a full length mirror! An additional key for the automatic gates would also have been helpful (especially when returning late at night) and would have allowed us to park on the drive. These are merely suggestions and the lack of either didnt detract from an excellent holiday. Clovis and Dave were very welcoming and helpful, as were everyone we came across during the holiday. Id definitely visit Antigua again and I wouldnt stay anywhere else. First rate accommodation!

The house is about 15 to 20 minutes from the airport and a 30 to 45 minute walk from 2 beaches. There is shopping strip mall and large grocery store within walking distance and a local bus stop around the corner. It is a 10 minute ride to the capital, St. Johns. There is also a smaller grocery store just around the corner as well. If you are not used to walking, you may want to rent a car. We enjoyed walking and riding the bus. The landlords who live nextdoor were fabulous. We relied on them for directions and suggestions on where to go. They are a tremendous asset!!! I am already planning another trip less than 2 months. The Friar's Hill house is the best value on the island.

This property is one of the cheapest available on the island and is excellent value for money. It is in excellent condition, being recently built, and is nicely finished off internally. The outside is more attractive than current photos show as a variety of plants have now been put in and will enhance the property as they mature. Everything was very clean. The verandah is spacious and there is a drying area out the back. The couple who live next door are, as others have said, welcoming and friendly. The villa is well situated for a number of beaches, bars and restaurants, St. John's, a coffee shop (at Jasmine Court) and supermarkets. We hired a car, which made trips to the other side of the island easily manageable. We did not see a music system. If that is important to you you would need to ask about it. Also, although there are plenty of saucepans for the burners there are no dishes for use in the oven. The area is a pleasant residential area; the old oil storage tanks (or whatever they are) that can be seen on google earth, although close, are largely hidden by trees.

Caribbean sun and smiles! We stayed here for 2 weeks and wished we could have stayed longer. Very clean, well put together, comfortable house. Lovely family next door to help out with anything you need. Car a must if you don't want to walk long distances but only a short drive to everything you need - supermarkets, stunning beaches and nightlife. Wireless internet access, cable tv and a bbq if you want to relax in on the porch. Great restaurants and bars nearby if you don't. We highly recommend this property and would go back in a second.

My father, brother and myself stayed at this little home in antigua over the recent holidays. The house was just built and next to it is another small home where the owners live, a wonderful antiguan couple. Being a new house there were a couple loose ends to sort out (a leaky faucet and such) and the two owners immediately had the contractor and plumber come to replace the faucet. The house is a five minute drive to the beach, five minute drive to town and a five minute drive to a large supermarket. There is also a smaller supermarket a five minute walk away. The shower had excellent water pressure hot water and the kitchen is nice and full of pots and pans, plate and bowls. The television has heaps of channels. This home also has a great porch for sitting in the morning, the internet is wireless and you can get it from the porch although a wi-fi extender will be installed soon and should allow you access from inside the house in the near future. This is a great home for a small family, or two couples. There is two queen size beds in two rooms, a small living room with couch and an open kitchen in the living room. There is a table on the porch with four chairs., great for dinner outside, the porch is covered so if it rains all is cool. Restaurants are a short drive away in all directions, but we did heaps of cooking. We didn't have a car and walked all over the place! This is one of the best deals on the island!
