Alma Verde (Green Soul) is an award-winning village in the Western Algarve, ten kilometres west of Lagos. The village enjoys sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, and is just three minutes by car to the beach at the picturesque fishing village of Burgau.
The 3-bedroomed villa has been decorated in a delightful contemporary Portuguese style, but is equipped with every modern convenience you could ever need. The property also includes outstanding views from the upper terrace - perfect for a leisurely breakfast or a place to watch the sun go down with a long cool drink after your day’s activities.
The location, setting and local amenities make this the ideal holiday destination for families, couples, or golfers looking for a relaxing or fun packed holiday. The private crystal clear pool is always heated to an inviting temperature and our lower terrace and patio is well lit and a great place for barbeques. Think of it as your home from home.
The villa is situated on an exclusive development with magnificent sweeping views over the surrounding countryside. Alma Verde facilities include a brand new wellness centre extensive racquet sports amenities and a children’s play area.
Just a short drive away is the traditional village of Barão de São Miguel, and to the South, the Burgau valley and coastal hills. The beach at the picturesque fishing village of Burgau is just three minutes by car, while the historic port of Lagos, with its colourful markets, attractive marina and vibrant nightlife, is only ten minutes away.
The Algarve is one of Europe’s premier golf destinations with over twenty courses within an hour’s drive from Alma Verde. In the Western Algarve there are five established courses - Alto Club, Boavista, Palmares, Parque da Floresta and Penina. The nearest courses to Alma Verde are Parque da Floresta and Boa Vista both approximately 3km away.

The villa has three double bedrooms with en suite bathroom facilities a fully fitted kitchen with open plan dining area and living room - all comfortably furnished to accommodate six people. A cot and high chair is also included.
The property is a two story semi-detached design featuring a double-height entrance hall with stairs leading up to a walkway and balcony complete with a traditionally carved balustrade. The walkway continues to a spacious south-facing master bedroom with en suite bathroom, and to the second bedroom with an en suite shower room.
Double patio doors from the master bedroom lead out onto an upper terrace with stunning views in the distance. A third double bedroom and shower room is found on the ground floor, together with the open plan kitchen and dining areas and living room.

Outside the villa you will find a well-maintained secluded garden with a beautiful selection of local shrubs and plants to ensure privacy.
The centrepiece of the garden area is the private heated swimming pool, kept crystal clean and temperature constant all year round. Surrounding the pool is a lower terrace and patio area where the sun shines all day - ideal for lounging with a good book or for a barbeque. The pool area is on the corner of the plot sheltered by climbing shrubs and a hardwood trellis.

Tennis - Constructed to the highest specification, the 4 synthetic grass tennis courts at AlmaVerde allow you to enjoy your game with minimal stress on joints and ligaments. The courts are located close to Wellness at AlmaVerde, where it is possible to book sessions and hire equipment
Wellness - From individual therapies and treatment sessions to conscientiously devised week-long programmes, the team of experts at AlmaVerde Wellness will offer a tailored experience to optimise energy levels and a sense of well-being
Pavilion Bar and Bistro (open from early summer 2010) – open for snacks and light meals during the day. In the evening the Pavilion offers a sophisticated bistro experience and specializes in fine Portuguese wines.
On-site activities – AlmaVerde offers a varied range of activities on site for adults and children
The locality surrounding Alma Verde Village is packed full of activities, amenities and interesting places to visit. The nearest amenities are around 2km from the property so we recommend car hire.
Cleaning and maintenance
The property is cleaned prior to your arrival and once during a seven-night stay with a linen & towel change. All towels & linen are provided. The pool is cleaned once a week & the garden is well tended & manicured.
Wheelchair access
The property can be accessed by wheelchair & one en suite bedroom is on the ground floor.
Supermarkets
There are supermarkets located at Budens 5 mins drive & Luz 7 mins drive. The ecomarche at Budens also has a filling station.
Medical
For general family medicine & emergencies Luzdoc in Luz is open 24 hours there is a Hospital in Lagos.
Getting to Alma Verde
The property is a comfortable & pleasant 60 mins drive West of Faro airport on the main A22.
Transportation
We can arrange airport transfers, mini bus trips & tours, evenings out, boat trips, fishing trips, golf tours to various courses with pick up & dro p off facility.
Enjoy the great outdoors
Rambling and hiking: The open, undulating countryside is ideal for rambling and hiking. The landscape is criss-crossed with old tracks through fig and olive groves.
Horse riding: Riding centres nearby offer inexpensive packages for all ages and levels of skill.
Mountain biking: There are unlimited challenges for mountain bikers. As you travel further inland, the ecology changes, and the steeper hillsides are covered in rock rose, pine, cork oak and strawberry trees.
Bird watching: Many bird species feed and nest at Alma Verde, including colourful Hoopoes, azure-winged Magpies and Bee-eaters. The Western Algarve is also a popular location for sighting migrating species.
Sailing: Lagos Marina has the best facilities of any Portuguese marina. You can also rent dinghies, wind surfers, or go water-skiing from the beaches at Praia da Luz and Meia Praia.
Surfing: The rugged west coast beaches, with their long Atlantic rollers, are an irresistible target for surf enthusiasts.
Scuba diving: Divers can explore the caves and wrecks in the nearby coastal waters and discover an abundance of sea life.
Taking to the air: There are opportunities for parasailing, paragliding, and even learning to fly microlight aircraft.
Big Game fishing: The waters around Cape St Vincent are among the best in Europe for big-game fishing. Marlin, Swordfish, Tuna and Shark can all be found here.
Beaches
Two of the Algarve’s top ten beaches are located very close to the villa, Meia Praia & Dona Ana. Choose from the many sheltered sandy coves along the south coast, or venture a little further to one of the more dramatic west coast beaches, open to the full grandeur of the Atlantic swell. Burgau beach is the closest to the property, just 5 minutes drive away.
Situated within the Costa Vincentia Natural Park, these beaches are among the most beautiful and least crowded in Europe. The park protects one hundred and fifty kilometres of unspoilt coastline. Explore the cliffs and ravines, roam free among sand dunes and heath lands, and discover a hidden wealth of flora and fauna.
Markets
Colourful Lagos, the launching point for Portugals epic voyages of discovery, has been a local centre of commerce since medieval times. The markets display a wide variety of fresh produce. The pavement restaurants serve locally caught seafood at surprisingly reasonable prices. In the evening, the narrow cobbled lanes come alive with people watching the street performers and thronging the bars that stay open until late.
