The house is obviously a loved house. Peter and Tamara keep it spotlessly clean and provide all you could need for a comfortable stay. Lots of interesting places to visit are within easy reach or you can have a long day out on the peninsular. There is a pub with excellent food and english owners just 500 yards away. I defy you to be able to eat their three course meals as the helpings are so large. The house is set in a beautiful valley - so peaceful and yet close to the village. We felt very safe there and could have stayed . We do hope to return.

A warm welcome from the owners on arrival and a very nice cottage for either a quiet hideaway or the base for a lively family holiday. Furnishings are pretty basic but overall the house is lovely and the friendly sheep were a highlight of our stay. There is a local bar/restaurant in the village(La Forge) that serves excellent food at very reasonable prices. Very well located for the local attractions and even the D Day beaches are a realistic full day out. Thoroughly recommended!

Had a lovely week in this cottage surrounded by lovely rural countryside. The place is so quiet and peaceful, great if you want to escape for a week or two. The cottage is situated a short walk from the village of Le Petit Celland and a short drive from the towns of Brecey and Avranches. The cottage is very spacious and very well appointed and has everything you might need for a week, it was immaculately clean when we arrived and we enjoyed feeding the sheep everyday who bound over as soon as they hear the rattle of their treats bucket. All in all it was a lovely experience and we would recommend staying here to anyone. There is plenty to see and do in the local area which is great for walking or sightseeing, we enjoyed the quality of the food available from both the supermarkets and restaurants we visited in Avaranches.

the property was perfect for us in every way. the hosts were there to welcome us despite us being several hours delayed. it was well appointed and comfortable and in a fabulous spot peaceful as could be yet close to many major attractions. my only reservation would be if all three bedrooms were needed which we did not. the process of having to go through one bedroom to reach another means you need to be family or very close friends! if you were going on holiday together i guess you would be one or the other. LOVED IT!

The cottage and the village of Le petit Celland were charming and peaceful. The owners were there to greet us and were most hospitable, even leaving us Mere Poulard cookies and local cider. The cottage had everything we needed and we were in easy distance of the main attractions of Normandy. Our only complaint, be it rather small ,was that the sofa in the living room was not very comfortable. The mattress on the downstairs bed where we slept was not the greatest. We would give the cottage an A- or B+ because of these two things. We did have a lovely time there enjoying the countryside after our daily sightseeing.

Owner reply:
We are very glad that you enjoyed your stay and it was a pleasure to have you. Regarding the sofa, we have checked it and you you are quite right; the springs seem to have been damaged recently. We are grateful to you for pointing this out. This has now been repaired and the sofa is back to normal.

Regarding the mattress in the downstairs bedroom, it is fairly new and we have not received comments from anyone else. However, we take all comments seriously and slept on it ourselves after your stay. We slept better than at home! Unfortunately, some people like firm mattresses, some like medium, some like soft. It is difficult to please everyone!

Nevertheless, thank you once again for your remarks and we wish you every happiness back in the USA.

We had a super 2 weeks staying at La Gandonniere. As has been stated on other reviews, the location is just lovely: assuming the weather is good you can enjoy sitting out the front of the gite taking in the lovely views of fields and animals. The whole area, in fact, is lovely and rural and quiet, and lots of great views are nearby. The gite provided a really good base for us as a family. For walks (and runs!) locally, and within reach particularly of Mont St Michel and beaches (we liked Carolle). Avranches is a nice town nearby. Peter and Tamara are very nice owners and keen to ensure our stay was pleasant. I guess a small improvement would be more Kitchen cutlery, crockery and utensils. Wed love to go back there!!!

La Gandonniere was a quiet gem set in the countryside of Normandy. We had 6 adults in our party and it accommodated us all very comfortably. Peter and Tamara were very welcoming and accommodating - we greatly appreciated their assistance! We loved being able to sit out in the sun with our morning coffee and often to eat a late dinner. The property was handy to supermarkets and to most of the sites we had planned to see in Normandy. I would certainly highly recommend this property to anyone who wishes to experience the countryside of Normandy. We loved it!!

The paperwork said - rural setting - what we found was a beaufill 3 bedroomed house set on the edge of a typical french village, finished beautifully & tastefully with everything we needed, our time here passed far to quickly - we will be back...

Idyllic position for country lovers close to farm animals in stunning countryside. Dreamy and peaceful. Brecy, a lovely small town is within a 10 minute drive, with typical attractive French town square. Locals very friendly. Avranches, 20 minutes away by car, is a characterful town with many nice bars and restaurants and views towards Mont St Michel from Le Jardin des Plantes that are fantastic. The property has good UK TV channel range. Rooms spacious and nicely appointed. Our only mild disappointment was the downstairs shower area that was very small and stairs that could possibly present problems to less mobile older people. A highlight for us was the kindness and generosity of the owners, Tamara and Peter, who went out of their way to ensure that our stay was an enjoyable one. We were sad to leave at the end of our week and are now sold on this particular part of Normandy for its charm and beauty.

Owner reply:
We thank our client for his kind comments. We are glad that he and his wife enjoyed their stay and we were sad when they left! They are an exceptional couple, given their ages. We respect and value their feedback.

Regarding the shower room, although we did originally have a comment about restricted access, we have now reworded the property description to make the stuation clearer:

"The shower, however, is not recommended for those who are disabled, frail or obese, as the base is raised and the access doors are not wide."

Please do not allow the above to put you off staying here! Any average person should be able to use the shower room without any difficulty.

Regarding the stairs, the property description already clearly describes their nature: one spiral, one open-tread straight.

A very nice, clean and comfortable cottage in a peaceful location, yet close to local towns for all amenities. Peter and Tamara were very helpful without being intrusive. We appreciated their many thoughtful gestures, particularly the wine and cheese on arrival.

The cottage and the owners were fantastic. The warm welcome and gifts after a 14 hour drive was greatly appreciated, as was the adaptability of the length of stay. The cottage was clean, spacious and well equipped. The children loved having resident sheep to talk to. Although blissfully remote, it was very easy to get to every convenience you could want. many thanks for an enjoyable stay.

We had a lovely holiday here. Set in a rural location with great views. Close to Bracey (5 min drive) for fresh bread, supermarket and Swimming pool. Lots in the local area - drive to beaches not too far, plus local Zoo and adventure park. The children liked seeing the near by Horses, Chickens, Ducks and even fed and kept the Water for the sheep topped up. Inside everything looks almost new as its obviously been very recently renovated to a great standard. Wooden and laminate floors plus very large rooms. Two modern bathrooms. Everything you need is included and the English Satellite TV is a real bonus. Very helpful owners - English spoken and they live near by and great communication from booking stage onwards. Thanks for a great holiday.
