Jungleside House was definately our cup of tea. It is isolated and quiet, with only animal noises, yet a very short walk from the beach and very good restaurants.
Transport is easy to anywhere, although you may have to haggle a little.
We didnt have the monkeys in the garden that others spoke about, but many birds, a monitor lizard, and the evening bat migration was always a sight to behold. Lal is very helpfull, if you have the mobile phone to get in touch with him. Also, the owner is very helpfull in arranging transport from the airport. The house has everything you need, maybe a little sparce on cooking facilities, but who needs to cook when its so reasonable to eat out? Its strong points are the many outdoor seating areas to relax and read etc.

Very spacious, well maintained and equipped. it was a real treat to watch the bats and monkeys from the roof. A simple walk to the beach and all the facilities Hikka offers. Would definitely book again ...

We had a wonderful month at Jungleside. We loved the house.. clean, spacious, very quiet and, with our 3 year old grandson, we spent lots of time on the roof and balconies enjoying the hammocks and watching the wildlife... pretty birdsand monkeys. The house is very relaxing. Lal is a star- really helpful and polite and always ready to come and pick you up with shopping and take you on trips. The beach is near and we spent many days by the sea and sampled nearly all the beach restaurants. The bikes were great and we had some lovely rides round the quiet lanes. Galle is close and good for a day trip on the bus or train and the little turtle farm is a nice place to take small children to. An evening boat trip on the lake was also good. We really hope to come back sometime.

A recent stay at this property in Feb was amazing, large block with a lovely big house that has all the trimmings.
Great location near the beach but far enough away from Galle Rd to not hear the goings on. I would definitely recommend a stay here and I will be back for sure.

Jungle Side is ideally situated either to explore this beautiful country and meet the smiling gentle people, enjoy the delicious food or just relax and enjoy the Indian Ocean and the amazing beaches. and all they have to offer. Lal is always on hand to take you wherever you want to go in his tuk tuk. The house is in a quiet relaxing location but just 5 mins walk to the beach and the garden has plenty of coconut, papaya, banana trees and aloe vera plants etc. It is also fascinating to sit on the balcony or roof terrace and watch the monkeys and other wild life. There is so much to see and do and we didnt have enough time but I would love to return and this house provides an ideal base. The house is spacious, airy and cool and very well equipped. My only regret is that I couldnt stay longer.

I particularly enjoyed being in the Jungle away from the busy main Galle road. It was such a wonderful experience listening to the Jungle noises and watching troups of monkeys swinging overhead whilst relaxing on the balcony or in the walled garden. The house was cool and clean with ceiling fans throughout, sufficient to keep the rooms cool day and night. The house furnishings are a little sparce but this is more than made up for by the position of the house the beach is within easy reach, outdoor showers are a boon, and there are nearby little shops where we purchased local organic produce. A Sri-Lankan friend of the owner was on hand to taxi us in his tutut when ever we wanted, and was helpful in recommending places to visit. Overall it was a comfortable stay in a beautiful location.

An absolutely fascinating country and a beautiful house to use as a base for excursions or just generally relaxing and staying near the beach.

The property is in good order and every amenity in the area is easily accessible. The beaches are beautiful and the house and garden are simply wonderful. We will be going back next year.

A very beautiful and relaxing house, it is surprisingly modern, big and well made. It is cool in the day and well ventilated. I particularly loved the workmanship that has gone in to this tropical home. I would strongly reccomend JungleSide for a relaxing holiday experience.
