Sozopol is probably the most interesting resort on the Black sea. There are three distinct parts of Sozopol each with its own distinct character. The Old Town, the New Town and an area known as Budjaka.
The jewel is undoubtedly the Old Town. There are many fine examples of 250 year old National Revival style wooden houses. There are many fine restaurants, bars and coffee shops. The Old Town has a harbour where fisherman’s catches are unloaded. The fish is sold on the market close to the harbour. There is also a ferry service which daily offers trips up and down the Black Sea coast.
The New Town is the commercial and residential area with shops, hotels, bars, cafes and supermarkets. Taxis and buses arrive and leave in both the Old and New Towns. There is an area in the New Town close to the beach where there are many outside restaurants and bars and night clubs. This is area where the main beaches are located with pedalo hire, motor boat rides etc.
