General Description

The apartment is at the first floor of a 3 story building. The apartment has two entrances, one through the stair case of the building and a private one directly from the Garden.

The garden is about 50sqm and is connected to the apartment with about 15 steps.

The apartment is about 50 sqm + 12 sqm of balcony.

It is a one bedroom apartment with a large living room and kitchen. The living room is connected at the same level with the balcony.

Diamante

Diamante is a jewel of a find that is set in Calabria, beside the Mediterranean Sea. This fishing village sits nestled on a rock, keeping it safe from floods – and pirates who roam the coast. It boasts of mild climate – more of the sun and less of the muggy, rainy weather.

The town of Diamante lives and breathes art – and peperoncini.

Let’s get to the art first. Diamante is a virtual art gallery! Its maze of narrow streets and alleys hold many artistic treasures. The walls are filled with murals. And these are not just in one area alone. These murals can be found anywhere.

You see, in the 1900’s artists who wanted to paint but could not afford to buy canvas turned their attention to the village walls. This is where they poured their artistic expressions. Even today, this traditional continues as artists flock this town to paint their hearts out. Now, you can see colorful and stunning murals at almost every turn. A leisurely walk along the streets is really an art sightseeing tour!

The village houses themselves are pretty fascinating. Century-old stucco houses with balconies line the streets. In August and September, you will also see Diamante’s consuming passion. Aside from art, of course. Stretched across clothes lines and hung out to dry along with linen and clothes are red pods – peperoncini.

These red hot chili peppers are a basic ingredient in Calabrese cooking. This is what makes Calabrese food different (and oh so spicier!) than the cooking throughout the rest of Italy. These hot pods are used in a number of Calabrese food – ‘nduja, Pecorino cheese and Sopressatta sausage. Hmmm… tasty and so hot, hot, hot!

The apartment is in a quiet area but you may hear occasional noise. It has a garden, a summer house, a patio area, panoramic views. If you are driving there is a garage.
