Lysos is a very tranquil location situated just outside the traditional yet vibrant town of Polis just 20km north of Paphos. Latchi, famous for watersports and its beach is also just a quick drive away. The Lysos area is well known for its scenic views, adventurous mountain biking and walking trails, and exotic wildlife, whilst at the same time being the ideal place for a peaceful sunshine holiday.

The villa is an impressive stone built four bedroom, four bathroom detached Cyprus Holiday Villa with a private infinity edged pool that has been designed, furnished and landscaped to the highest standards and creates a unique opportunity to have real taste of traditional Cypriot village life as well as all the modern comforts of home.

Enjoy relaxing on a sun lounger by the private pool, alfresco dining on the terrace and your favourite aperitif on one of the balconies as the sun sets over the mountainside and clear blue waters of the Mediterranean at Polis and Latchi.

After leaving the main road from Paphos, Profitis Elias Villa in Lysos is accessed by a beautiful winding country road with lovely views all the way. Only 400m away is the centre of Lysos Village with its Taverna for great food and hospitality and a shop or two for conveniences.

Nearby Peristerona is a beautifully peaceful inland village , and has a small grocery store, taverna, coffee shop and a Church with Byzantine museum of Arsinoe and the Church of St Mamas built in 1911 next to it.

Polis is an interesting little town built around a charming square packed with cafes and restaurants – plenty of choice if you fancy eating out in the evenings. Latchi has a long golden beach and is famous for watersports – hire a boat, go diving or learn to waterski in the warm waters of the blue Mediterranean


Villa Details

On entering the villa in Lysos, you immediately sense the thought and care that has gone in to make the villa a true home from home. Access at ground floor level leads into the dining/breakfasting area which is equipped with a smart and modern dark wood topped table and 8 leather chairs in a contemporary style. The fully equipped kitchen includes all modern appliances with dishwasher, and coffee maker as convenient extras. The adjacent lounge features beautiful large real leather sofas and 42” Plasma TV with Satellite & DVD player.

Making up the ground floor is a large double bedroom with an en-suite shower room with large cubicle. Access from here can be gained to the beautifully kept patio and terraced areas and the infinity edged private pool.

Upstairs is the master bedroom with balcony affording wonderful views and en-suite with Jacuzzi bath. The third and fourth bedrooms are twins and also have access small balconies, as well as a en-suite shower rooms with double sized cubicles.

The villa is fully air-conditioned (included free of charge in bedrooms). The water is heated by solar panels on the roof. A travel cot and highchair are supplied on request. Other extras such as hairdryer and pool towels are also provided.

Access to Villa Prosefhi in Lysos is through an impressive set of electric gates that lead into the private driveway.

The centrepiece of the exterior is a very inviting 8m x 4m private pool with infinity edge and ample room for sunloungers (six supplied). Also on the pool terrace, there is a magnificent gazebo with picnic bench/dining table. Both give uninterrupted views of the surrounding valley and mountains, the Mediterranean Sea, Polis and Latchi.

A large stone built BBQ and smartly designed pool shower make up the external areas. The views from this area are quite spectacular, making it the ideal place for relaxing in the sun or shade, alfresco dining and socialising with your party.


Location Detail

Lysos is a traditional mountain village in Cyprus located only 14 km from the seaside town Polis Chrysochous, 15km from Latchi with its beaches and water sports and a 45 km drive from Paphos.

This picturesque mountain village is famous for its efforts to maintain the beauty and the traditions of Cyprus. At just under 500 metres above sea level the summers are a few degrees cooler than the fierce summer temperatures in the coastal towns and is assisted by the cool ‘mountain breeze’.

In various locations around Lysos there are many remarkable landmark churches such as the church of Ayios Georgios built in the 13th century where frescoes of Saint Mama can be found and is still protected by the antiquities department. Churches such as Panayia Chryselousa constructed at the end of the 15th century with Byzantine and Gothic elements, Profitis Elias, Ayios Constantinos, Ayios Charalambos and the country church of Archangel Michael provide for a unique perspective of the village history.

With an abundance of natural water Lysos was used in Cyprus as an industrial area for the melting of metals. The fountain located by the church and built in the 1900s was made entirely of stone including the five taps of which were used to supply fresh drinking water.

Lysos is situated between the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea and some spectacular mountains filled with pine trees, fruit and olive trees, wild flowers and herbs and vineyards.

Lysos is home to a very good traditional Cypriot taverna, with neighbouring shops and the more widely known Paradisos Hills Hotel (50m away from Mountain Breeze Villa). Paradisos Hills Hotel is a small intimate hotel with only 15 rooms and a restaurant (open for breakfast, lunch and dinner) which serves only the finest Traditional Cypriot and International Cuisine. Most of the food is locally sourced and much of it is organic and the Sunday buffet lunches are now known Island wide. Paradisos Hills Hotel also have international evenings where guests and regular customers can experience something different and test the full range of its gastronomic skills.

Travel a little way (passing the pretty village of Peristerona) and you reach the larger village of Polis. There is plenty of activity to choose from, whether you wish to dine in one of the many good quality restaurants, have a coffee or lunch in the central square, hire mountain bikes, quad bikes or maybe even a boat!

The nearby Latchi beach is renowned as one of the best on this side of the island and not as crowded as the beaches in and around Paphos itself (which can be reached by car in 30 minutes or under). Latchi beach is famous for its clear blue sea, soft white sand and a great selection of watersports which are readily available. Take one of the boat rides to the ‘Blue Lagoon’, have a swim and/or snorkel, then come back to the pretty harbour/fishing port and have the famous ‘Fish Meze’ where you will be served approx 20 dishes including some of the freshest catches of the day whilst watching the world go by.

For the more adventurous, you can enter the ‘Akamas’ Nature reserve and go all the way round to ‘Lara Beach’ famous for its turtles and wonderful beach. If it is unspoilt Cyprus you are looking for, this is a great area to visit. You may even venture into the nearby villages of Miliou, Droushia and Panagia or further on to Kathikas (with its vineyards and wineries),. Other fantastic scenery can be taken in at Cedar Valley and the Troodos mountain range where in Winter, you can even ski!

Paphos airport is 40 minutes away by very good quality roads with English road signs. Visit Lysos and you won’t be disappointed.

If in the evening, we will advise key location. We can arrange taxi transfer by our own driver who knows where the property is and assist with car hire from the airport if desired. A car can also be delivered to the villa on request after arrival. The property is professionally managed (you will always have a contact) and has linen changes and cleaning on a weekly basis (10-28 night stays). Air-Conditioning is included free of charge in bedrooms. A welcome pack of basic essentials will be in place for your arrival.**
