Marrakech villa rental

I would begin by echoing all the praise given by the other reviewers.The villa was excellent with a decent sized pool and plenty of shaded seating areas in the gardens and even in the pool itself. Food was good however the salads with everything approach might not be to every kids taste. Any problems we had were quickly addressed by Phillipe (a minor ant infestation if you must know). The complex is in the middle of nowhere surrounded by farms and scrubland so youre either on site or you take a taxi into Marrakech. Theres no walking to the local pub,shops,etc. I do wish my French was better as it would have made communication with the housekeeper,taxi driver and even Phillipe (whose English is reasonable) easier. Finally the internet consists of a single terminal in the clubhouse,okay for checking your emails but painfully slow (think dial-up)for anything else and no wi-fi yet. We loved the week we spent there and I hope I havent dwelled too much on the negatives but all the many good points are already covered elsewhere in the other reviews.

The property was outstanding and service very good. The only downside was that the internet was only accessible from the clubhouse, for our particular villa. We had not appreciated until we arrived just how remote the location of the villas was from Marrakech. This was a plus for us with young children but perhaps might be less convenient for couples. It took about 30 minutes to get into town using the minibus service, which restricted you to visiting for an hour or four hours, which could be too long in the heat. Overall we really loved the villas and visiting Morocco and would definitely go again.

Had a wonderful time in the villa last week. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly - from Philippe the manager to the cook, housekeeper and drivers. We too our three children and it was brilliant to be able to dip in and out of Marrakech life and retire to the gorgeous garden when wed had enough excitement! The food was delicious, the accomodation great and the whole holiday worked brilliantly!

Our holiday experience at Domaine Akhdar was a very eventful one due to unexpected delays in returning home due to the volcano ash cloud, but nonetheless we were wonderfully looked after from the start of the booking process until we finally boarded a plane home. Bookings were made through Rob Simcock who was prompt and attentive in establishing villa availability, and who sent a travel guide and a French phrase book to us prior to our departure – a very nice touch. On arrival in Marrakech, we were picked up by a very patient driver from the Domaine after a 3 hour flight delay, and welcomed into our villa at 9 in the evening by our maid and chef. We had opted for the all-inclusive meal and drinks option (highly recommended), and it was wonderful to be able to sit straight down to enjoy a 3-course meal and a bottle of wine after a hectic day. The food at the villa was wonderful – it added too the holiday to enjoy authentic Moroccan cuisine each meal, which was always superbly presented and in very generous quantities. Meals could be requested at times to suit yourself. Our villa staff did not speak any English, so a little knowledge of French is most useful. The villa itself was beautifully furnished, very comfortable and clean. The outdoor areas in particular gave us many options for relaxing in the sun or sitting quietly in the shade. Meals were also often served outdoors. The pool was lovely (albeit a little cold at that time of year, but not enough to put the kids off), and the walled garden gave complete privacy from your neighbours with a generous area to play for the children. The communal areas at Domaine seemed seldom used, perhaps as a result of the fantastic living accommodation. The clay tennis court could be accessed easily, but we did not use the spa facilities. The regular shuttle bus into the city centre was most useful, as driving in Marrakech is not for the faint-hearted. As for the city itself, it is unlike any other – truly an assault on your senses. However we soon came to feel confident wondering round the alleyways of the Souks and thoroughly enjoyed the hectic hours we spent in the city. It was happy relief to return to the absolute quiet of the Domaine thereafter. Following our unexpected extended stay in Marrakech, we were also very impressed by the management of the Domaine who rapidly obtained alternative accommodation for us, and helped make it a less stressful time. This is a most recommended way to see Marrakech.”

Very nice villa especially the pool and the garden. Very private and a good housekeeping service. A recommendation.

Schöne grosszügige Villa in einer neu erbauten Anlage. Das Haus ist gut eingerichtet mit allen nötigen Utensilien. Fatima hat sehr gut für uns gesorgt. Der Service und die Sicherheit sind untadelig. Das Resort ist bestens geeignet für einen ruhigen Familienurlaub für Gäste die ausserhalb des Trubels Ferien machen möchten. Die Zufahrt über Feldwege ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig.

My husband and I stayed here in Dec 2009. The pictures do not do justice to the beauty of the villa and garden - they are much better in reality! As the location is rather remote I would definitely recommend the all inclusive option. The food was very good and it is so much easier to not have to worry about anything at all. Although it was unfortunately too cold to use the private pool we spent many hours just sitting outside in the sun - it was wonderful! Id recommend the villa to anyone looking for a totally relaxing holiday. Its only a short drive away to Marrakesh, so you are still close to the action! Its also great for families as the kids will have a great time playing in the private and walled garden. On our last evening we went to the spa and had a scrub and massage - absolute heaven! We would definitely like to go back!"
