Owned by a resident British couple, O Palheiro is a self catering studio apartment centrally located in the village of Faja Grande, close to shops, restaurants and the sea with wonderful views down over the rooftops of the village to the ocean and the islet of Monchique, Europe’s most westerly point. Comprehensively refurbished by local craftsmen in 2007, it is ideal for a couple (one double bed - child's bed (1,60 metres) available on request free of charge). Open plan (20m2), the apartment comprises a sleeping and sitting area with double bed, table and chairs at an upper level with a well appointed kitchen, dining area and shower-room at a lower level. Outside is a large private garden with BBQ as well as an elevated terrace offering views views of the sea. Access to a washing machine and tumble dryer on request free of charge.
The westmost island of the Azores archipelago, Flores is a scenically stunning unspoilt paradise for walking, birdwatching and simple relaxation. With shops and restaurants, Faja Grande, Europe's westmost village, is a great base from which to explore the island. In summer, bicycles and kayaks may be rented locally. car hire is available at the island's airport at the capital, Santa Cruz.
