A good sized property which comfortably housed our large group of 9 adults and 6 kids (ages 2-5). Pat and Gigi were excellent and very kind hosts who went out of their way to help us settle in.
The best feature of this propery is its garden, very large and nicely laid out. We were able to let the kids run free, confidient that they were safe. The pool is enclosed with a retractable glass roof, which we kept closed while the kids were in the garden.
The property is well equiped with rustic furniture. The main town is a few mins walk and has a couple of bakeries, a small shop and a fruit & veg shop. The nearest supermarket is close to the TGV station.
Id definitely recommend the property and would stay there again if we come back to the region.

le Colombier - Cambalala is a lovely, spacious house with a huge garden and a large pool. We were a group of 6 adults and 3 teenage children (ages 10 to 82!) and the house was perfect for our two week stay in August 2010. The owners Patrick and Gigi live onsite and were fantastic to us during our stay. They were available if we needed them and invisible otherwise.
The kitchen is very well stocked with lots of crockery, a large fridge, a fridge-freezer with a separate deep-freeze in the hallway. The open plan living area has a table that seats about 16, comfy couches with a tv area at one end. The pool table and football table were great distractions if it was too hot outside or for friendly competition late in the evening.
The bedrooms are well furnished and all have freestanding fans for the warm nights.
We ate all of our meals outside in the garden where there is a choice of eating areas in shade or under the sun. The BBQ is full size and there was a ready supply of firewood. Theres also space in the garden to relax in the hammock or read a book in a quiet corner.
The pool is very large and entered by way of a ladder rather than steps. There is a new automatic roof cover on the pool which Patrick rolls back every morning and evening. This makes the pool very safe overnight and Patrick made sure the pool was clean for us every day. There are plenty of sunloungers and a separate shower poolside.
The house is very near the village. A short walk takes you to a choice of bakeries, fruit and veg shops and two pubs. There is a supermarket with petrol station within a five minute drive of the house. We took a number of trips to Avignon, Chateauneuf-du-pape, St. Remy and Tarascon all within easy reach of the house.
Partick and Gigi gave us suggestions and directions to nearby markets and events during our stay. They made our stay in their house really special and we found a shared love of music.
The house and surrounding areas had something of interest for both the young and old members of our group. We really enjoyed our stay in Barbentane and plan to return there very soon.

The house was perfect for our needs. 10 family members covering 3 generation from 2 - 71 years. The house had a lovely feel and although well presented was not too precious that we worried about the children causing a mess. The pool, garden and outside dining area and bbq were ideal. There were plenty of places to explore in the surrounding areas. Our hosts Gigi & Patrick were delightful, helpfull and yet discrete. Overall I would definitley recommend this property.
Thanks to Gigi & Patrick

Gigi and Patrick were lovely hosts. The house was well-ordered and very livable. The yard was lovely and we spent many afternoons on the grass and in the hammock at tea time. Although there is no "view" from the house, the location was perfect for exploring Provence. The village of Barbentane was quite small, though, and we had to use the car to go to the upper village for the market you cannot walk there. The billiard table was a huge plus for our 12 year old. Our only complaint was that only 2 of the 4 beds were made up with sheets when we arrived. We didnt discover this until bedtime when, bleary-eyed we had to find sheets and make beds. They also wanted to charge us extra money for the sheets and towels at the end of the stay. In our experience, this cost is always included in the rent. Otherwise, we had a lovely stay. Thank you Gigi and Patrick.
Owner reply:
about the complaint, we reply this: that all is very well explained iwithin the descriptions and informations about the house , into the EXCLUSIONS, its expressively written that the bed linens sheets, towels, are not included into the price booking we always sent a email to our customers to ask them before if they need it for knowing before arrival and prepare it , so its not a problem , only to paiy attention for it for customer and guests Pat & Gigi

The property and grounds are spacious, well appointed and Patrick/GiGi were very helpful and friendly. There is a lot to do in the area and it was also the best pool we have come across in France although not one that you can paddle in. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are looking to re book next year.

We loved our week at this beautiful house. The lovely bedrooms perfectly accommodated our family of 11, and bonuses included the pool table and the high speed wireless Internet connection. The large enclosed, private grounds include a pool, a bbq, a dining tent where we ate every night, and a spacious yard for games of petanque (boules) and wiffleball. Patrick and Gigi were great, nearby and unobtrusive but always available to solve problems, give directions and make recommendations of local restaurants or sights. Patrick got us all bikes, and we enjoyed the 10 minute ride into quiet, historical Barbentane village for our morning cafe creme and croissant. With tennis nearby, great local bike rides, and a location convenient to the joys of Provence, this villa was perfect. Highly recommend!

This villa was a find, exellent throughout, very friendly owners, who kept their distance but were very helpful whenever we needed them. Pool is fantastic and very safe for young children.
The town is lovely and is a great base from which to explore Provence. The villa is full of English tourist information about the area, which is a great help when planning a trip.
My family loved our 10 days and we will come back I am sure.

Second visit to this property, and Patrick and Gigi have made a whole range of improvements (including a bunk room off a bedroom) and had obviously replaced a lot of items so that the condition of the property was superb. Was able to rent a bike for the duration on site also, enabling daily relaxed countryside cycles.
The pool, barbeque, and totally relaxing environment were ideal for a family holiday. The area has lots of intertesting places to visit, especially enjoyed exploring the Camargue, kayaking and visiting wine areas of the Rhone, all of which are within an hour.
Local shops, restaurants, bars, supermarkets all very friendly even to Scots with limited French !
Absolutely ideal for kids - age range of our group 3-17, all had a really good time in this very safe environment.

We were 8 adults and 3 children, 1, 3 & 6 yrs.old. The house was excellent for this group and the pool extremely clean and good, both for adults to swim and children to play, under supervision. Gigi and Pat were very friendly, and quickly solved any problems. A car is recommended because many nearby places are worth visiting. However, a shop and a bakery plus the village itself are within an easy (10-30 min.) reach on foot or bike.

This fabulous villa is set amidst a large well kept garden and features a wonderful clean swimming pool which given the perpetual heat was a god send.
The accomodation was clean and spacious, close to a supermarket and very welcoming. The pool table indoors also provided our children with hours of endless entertainment. The villa owners live on site, although you only see them when you need something and proved to be the perfect hosts. I would have no hesitation in recommending this villa to future takers.

Really nice couple live next door but unobtrusive. Huge garden, secure pool with alarm great with young children, very well equipped villa, location ideal if you have a car. Lovely surroundings all directions.
Local shops and supermarket very good too.
Had a great week - villa very spacious and comfortable for 8-10 people.
Used fans to keep cool at night without a problem (no air-con, in keeping with most in area)

Large house near a lovely quiet village away from the main tourist areas. Would comfortably sleep 10 people. 10 minute drive to lively Avignon. Great gardens and safe, large pool.
Review submitted by Ruth from Ireland (Submitted: 19 Jul 2005)
Nice Villa, with a lovely garden and great pool (which was kept very clean). The garden and pool were both very safely enclosed - perfect for families with young children.
The only major drawback for us was the mosquitoes. As it is a woody area and with a small river beside, there were thousands of them (and all their little relatives ).
We really feel that screens are needed on all the doors and windows. Because we had to keep the doors/windows shut all the time, the house was like an oven ( As no AC and fans are not enough! )
Patrick and Gigi were very nice and helpful and sorted out any little queries/problems immediately.
