Attractions and About Dalyan
Dalyan is the pearl of the Lycian region situated on the beautiful river which connects the unspoilt Lake Koycegiz with the Mediterranean Sea. The 7 miles long Dalyan Delta, with its narrow waterways, is surrounded by reed beds. The town itself is flat and easy to get around. You can enjoy boat trips and whilst cruising along the Dalyan River you can see the ruins of the ancient city of Caunos, which include a theatre dating from the 2nd century BC, Roman Baths, temple of Apollo, agora and market place. It is accessible by boat or on foot and you can also see the carved Lycian tombs in the limestone mountain which are illuminated at night making the river a spectacular place to enjoy a meal taking in these stunning views.
With its 6km long shore, Iztuzu Beach will be an unforgettable experience. The beach is in the top 10 of the worlds most famous beaches, as being the sanctuary of the Caretta-Carettas also known as loggerhead turtles which lay their eggs in the clean fine sand. This is why it is commonnly called "turtle beach" as well. With its unspoilt nature protected by strict regulations, Iztuzu has remained a sleepy heaven.
The beach is within easy reach from Dalyan Centre. There are very regular local dolmus (buses) that will take you to the beach for a small local charge. You can also reach the beach by public boat from the river and enjoy a beautiful, relaxing sail of about 40 mins observing some of the above, and if you are lucky see the turtles, again just a small local charge.
There are many excursions including 12 islands boat trip, jeep safari, quad biking, fishing, moonlight boat trip with BBQ set on the Lake, Caunos, car hire, bicycle hire and many, many more. these can all be arranged through Dalyan selec t office No 33A Ataturk Bulvari, tel 0090 252 284 5303. Dalyan selec t has English and Turkish speaking friendly staff who would be more than happy to arrange any excursion for you.
You will be able to enjoy your meals by the riverside or in the vilage. There are bars and restaurants in the village where you can relax and observe local life
You can enjoy a walk along the riverside, cycle in the town centre, shop in the shops or at the local market.
Come and relax in an unspoilt, pretty town, come to Dalyan.
