Property and local area description
TENUTA DI CORSANO
This is a delightful spot, the traditional setting of the accommodation set off by the soothing, rural surroundings. Here you can relax by the pool or in the gardens, sipping a local wine or sampling some of the local delicacies.
As well as your ‘welcome’ meal, there is an opportunity to attend weekly cooking courses held by Mrs Migone, learning the preparation of such local delights as wild boar stew. You can bake your own bread in the outside wood-oven, pick your own vegetables and fruit, and eat out under the brilliantly-starred sky of Tuscany.
The setting is beautiful and romantic, ideal for wedding receptions and banquets, both of which can be organised by the owners. The largest of the apartments was recently used as a set for Renzo Martinelli’s ‘Piazza delle Cinque Lune’ starring Donald Sutherland, Giancarlo Giannini and F. Murray Abraham.
The apartments are suitable for from four to six guests, and have been carefully and tastefully decorated and furnished with period pieces and antiques. The traditional whitewashed walls offer a contrast to the vibrant, warm colours of terracotta tiles and wooden fixtures, with a result that is both airy and welcoming.
Each apartment is fully fitted and equipped, with excellent kitchen facilities, modern bathrooms and spacious, comfortable sleeping accommodation. Each of the apartments has its own delights; all have remarkable views of the vineyards, the friendly village of Ville di Corsano, or even distant Siena.

THE LOCATION
La Tenuta is a peaceful, stress-free country estate which produces Tuscany's famed Chianti wines as well as olive oil, fruit and vegetables. For many guests the opportunity to relax by the pool, sit with a book under the shade of a fruit tree, or stroll through the grounds is all it takes to make a perfect vacation.
The pretty hamlet of Ville di Corsano is 800 meters from La Tenuta (population 200) and it is a friendly little place with a small supermarket, a post office, two restaurants and a winery. Other attractions include the Castle of Grotti, a mediæval tower and a renowned eleventh century church.
Other local attractions include the town of Monteroni D’Arbia (10 km) with several bars and restaurants, a large supermarket, banks and a post office. Also nearby is the little town of Murlo, well worth visiting for its Etruscan remains. The soft, almost lunar hillscape of the ‘Crete Senesi’ offers some spectacular walking or driving, and the famous Benedictine abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore is a popular destination.
The high point of the area has got to be the walled city of Siena (Sienna), protected by its imposing red walls from the destruction of modern developers. A vitally important influence on the Renaissance, in vigorous competion with Florence, it has a fantastic concentration of palaces and art galleries, churches and museums, restaurants and boutiques... There is an active and exciting social calendar of exhibitions, concerts and markets, dominated by the world-famous Palio.
If you want to travel a bit more, you well placed to explore the wineries and vineyards of Chianti, drive or take a train up to Florence, or even divert eastwards into rural Umbria with the attraction of Etruscan remains and water sports at Lake Trasimeno.
We recommend that you hire a car, in order to best see the hidden treasures of Tuscany!
