Villa Timpa lies in a rather special spot with a panoramic view, in a protected area called "La Timpa", created to preserve the mediterranean scrub. From the provincial road that leads to Catania, which is about 15 kms away, you enter via a private gate into the large estate, which is full of a large variety of plants and trees forming a wonderful green swathe contrasting with the colour of the sea below. The house looks onto the sea, and from the terrace you can enjoy the view of a long tract of coast, and on a clear day you can even see the coast of Calabria. Villa Timpa, besides its exceptional position, is also a very comfortable house, with air-conditioning, heating, washing-machine and dishwasher, and the furnishings are of very good quality. From a side gate of the garden you go out onto an old roman road that once used to link Acireale to its port, and these days is a pleasant 500 metre walk leading straight to the sea, which is a rocky tract of coast near to S. Maria la Scala, where you can also find some excellent restaurants offering freshly caught fish. Acireale, known in particular for the baroque architectural style of its buildings and for its churches, lies less than a kilometre away and can be reached on foot. Catania is about 15 kms away and Taormina 40 kms.
