A genuine Tuscan hay barn, in beautiful central Tuscany
This barn is part of a typical tuscan farmhouse, with centuries of history, we have kept all the original features and only modernised the kitchen and bathroom facilities. It is surrounded by spacious private grounds with pool, playing area and private garden, with barbeque area and outside eating space. The local area is a natural park and has many olive groves, woods and vineyards. The nearby village of Pian di Scò has two Pizzeria/trattoria, both of which are in easy walking distance, it is also possible to walk to the shops, there is a small local store at about 7 mins walk and larger mini market, about 15 mins walk. Although there is local public transport, a car is essential to visit the local sites. There is a 1000 year Romanic church in the village, and a little baroque chapel, the local scenery, with its famous 'balze', which Leonardo used as a backdrop for many of his painting, is spectacular. There are many little villages and walled towns to explore, and also our local 'mountain' with a monastery founded by St Francis. The Chianti area is a 20 minute drive away, and the local town of San Giovanni was the cradle of the early renaissance, being the birthplace of Massaccio. There are street markets once a week in the 'historic centre' of each of the local villages and towns, and for those who are interested in more sophisticated shopping, the Mall, our local outlet, and the Prada outlet, both nearby, will give you a chance to chose some really high class clothes, shoes and handbags. It is easy to get to Florence by car or train, the fast train from the local station of Figline takes 23 minutes to the centre of Florence, and it is also possible to visit other Tuscan towns like Siena and Arezzo, Lucca Volterra and Pisa and the beautiful areas around them. It is also easy to visit the nearby region of Umbria, and the town of Assisi, and Rome and Venice are a quick journey by fast train. The seaside is an hours journey away, with lots of choices, and those with children will appreciate a visit to the 'Aquavillage' at Follonica or Cecina.
The area is perfect for walking and biking, and there are stables nearby where you can do cross country riding,. If you wish to play golf there is a good course in Chianti, near Impruneta, and a new course near to us, across the valley in Cavriglia.
