A spacious gite, in a quiet village with relaxed owners.

The gite more than exceeded our expectations. The property was full of character. The garden jammed packed with things for our children to do. The area was delightful, full of things to do and excellent food. But the hosts made our holiday with their friendly and warm reception throughout the trip.
Wonderful.

A very pleasant gite in a very quiet village in the rural Vendee. Lots to do and see in the vicinity, and beaches, La Rochelle etc all reachable by car. Very pleasant gite owner, who is always around should there be any problems. Very relaxing.

We have had a fantastic two weeks holiday in this gorgeous site in the Vendeean country. The site was everything wed hoped for, spacious and comfortable and very well equipped. Jane and Brian are wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcome. The pool and the garden are perfect for completely chilling out, the weather was glorious so many a long morning was spent here. The location is really beautiful and very quiet, and within easy reach of so many things to do. If you want a completely relaxing do-nothing holiday, or even a busy one exploring the country, this is the perfect place. weve been to the Vendee coast in the past but this was so much better, we definitely hope to return!

The property was clean, comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. It was ideal for us as a family. My 3yr old and 6yr old enjoyed playing in the garden and the large sandpit. It was a good base to explore the area. It was ideally placed for a trip to Puy du Fou, which is highly recommended. I would have no hesitation to recommend the property to other families. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Enjoyed our stay very much

Jane and Brian were very welcoming and the Gite was equipped with everything we could have required. The one thing to remember about France is that almost everything is closed on Sunday and Monday, so remember to take enough money to see you through until the banks open on Tuesday ! and to go to the Hyper U on Sat evening or Sun Morning for food.
Other than that, the area was very pretty and the pool was welcome in the sunshine.

We thought the Gite was great, very spacious, clean and comfortable. The outside space was just what we wanted, unfortunately the weather didn't play ball with us so we didn't get to sit around the swimming pool very often !!
The accommodation and grounds provided a lovely and relaxing holiday. The garden was large and secure so the children could play out without us having to watch them all the time. Both Jane and Brian were excellent hosts and a pleasure to meet.
If you have children and want a family get away I would definately recommend it.

Lovely location right opposite the Donjon. The owners Jane and Brian were brilliant - they couldn't have been more welcoming. Lots to do around the area: Puy de Fou is a MUST as is the soiree at the Donjon in Bazoges - two great evenings! Lazy days at the Gite too with lots of sun, having water fights with the children in the pool, bbq and wine in the evening. We'll be back!

The gite was lovely. The Garden was peaceful. The pool was great and brilliant for cooling off after a hot day. The owners were a lovely family who went out of there way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We had a lovely time. The gite made a great base to visit the surrounding areas including the beaches.

We spent a fantastic two weeks at Bazoges-en- Pareds. The house was very comfortable and had everything that we could possibly have needed, including all the games to play with the children in the evening. The swimming pool was excellent and we managed to fit in a swim every day. There is a very relaxed atmosphere at the cottage and we just slipped into complete holiday mode spending days lazing by the pool and sitting in the garden. If you are looking for a real get away from it holiday then this is the place for you. Our hosts and their family were lovely and could not have been more helpful, recommending places for us to visit and things to do in the area that they had tried out previously. Although the cottage is set in a quiet village, it is not too far to drive to La Rochelle if you need a shopping fix or the nearby town of Chantonnay to stock up the shelves. We had a great holiday and could not believe how quickly the time passed, it was over all too soon. Hopefully we will manage back again.

We’ve had a relaxing week here, in between doing as little as possible we managed to;
Visit La Rochelle
Visit Futuroscope
Visit ‘Green Venice’
Look around the Donjon
La Rochelle is a lovely town with good shops. We had an excellent lunch there and later on we went on a boat trip out to Fort Boyard. It was good but slightly disappointing that we weren’t allowed to go into the fort, we could only view it from the boat.
Fututoscope was a good day out – about 1.5 hours to get there but well worth it. It isn’t as crowded as English theme parks, so it felt relaxing. The light show at the end of the day (10.30) was really good.
‘Green Venice’ (Marais Poitevin) was a great afternoon out. About 50 minutes to get there, we hired a flat bottomed boat with a guide and it was so peaceful and relaxing. We hired a boat near Coulon, it’s really pretty around there, and we had a nice evening meal at ‘La Brasserie de la Repentie’, Magré, the owner, had spent time living in London and spoke really good English.
The Donjon here in Bazoges is interesting too. We liked the herb garden best.
The local restaurant was excellent. We had a really good meal there. Not cheap, but a real treat.
There’s a great butchers in Chantonnay if you want good meat for the BBQ!
And that’s about all I can think of at the moment.

We have had a really nice time here. The gite is really lovely, with everything you could need for a family holiday and more and the garden and pool are perfect and, as you know, that’s where we spent most of our time.
We did get out a few times though, the highlight must be the Puy du Fou which is worth at least a day and preferably two All the boys, aged 8-16, were enthralled and amazed at every show. It is very well organized so that you can make your way from one event to the next with time for a sandwich or drink in between. The birds of prey were particularly impressive. However, the Cinescenie evening show is truly amazing and is a must see if you can get tickets, Hundreds of actors re-enact the history of the Vendee with galloping horses and fires and explosions, it’s indescribable really you need to see it yourself. Make sure you bring a sweater though as it goes on until quite late.
The forest de ’l’adventure near Moncoutant is a really good day out too, scary but very well organised and perfectly safe and the go-karts across the road are good too.
The Tour de France passed nearby while we were here and the caravan came through the village which was very colourful.
Most of the time was spent lounging and relaxing though and this is certainly the place for it. The boys (all 5 of them!) got on great and stayed up all hours while we all ate and drank and chatted the evenings away.

Village gorgeous, weather fab, gite top class, pool refreshing. When you’ve got all this why go anywhere? – so we didn’t and had a fantastically refreshing weekend! Thanks guys, we’ll be back again.

We’ve had a very relaxing time over the past week. The gite has been like home and the hosts very easy going (although Bazoo did have his mad moments!)
A lot of time was spent in and around the pool. We didn’t venture out too far as there was no need to.
We went to La Rochelle and also to Marans where we hired a motor boat. This was very enjoyable but very hot! We saw an otter and several big brown water rats! Plus ducks, of course.
We went for a stroll around Le Donjon which was very interesting.
The bikes were made use of by some of our party, but others of us were too busy relaxing.
The boys found their room very comfortable but were not as keen to spend the night with the bats that came in through the open window in the evening. It was interesting to see bats so close, perhaps Jane and Brian should charge extra for the holiday show!! (all bats since humanely evicted – Brian).
Thanks for a great holiday, no doubt we’ll see you again soon.

We’ve had a wonderful week in a lovely gite with welcoming hosts.
We’ve made the most of the time we’ve had.
La Rochelle – well recommended. You could spend more than a day with all there is to see, just walking around soaking up the atmosphere. Also detoured to the Ille de Re – beautiful.
Le Mervent forest and Pierre Brun – Canoeing, great lake and reasonable too, kids enjoyed Pierre Brun, thought all the bouncy things and playground rides great fun, even the 13 year olds!
La Tranche sur Mer – beach lovely and sandy and shallow water, great if children like to look for creatures that lurk in the deep!
But the experience of the week must be the Puy do Fou, a spectacular day or days out especially with the Cinescenie show in the evening. There are no end of words to describe it, spectacular, fantastic, amazing, awe inspiring. Wow, the French really know how to put on a show!
We’ve had a lovely welcome from Jane and Brian. Our boys have had a great week putting into action what Joey and Billy practiced the weeks before, it’s been action stations with all sorts of weapons and the boys have had a brillian time. Our daughter enjoyed beating Mum and dad at scrabble and being an observer of the battles between the boys. Oh, not forgetting her beating us at bouls too!!
Thank you Jane, Brian, Joey and Billy for a lovely relaxing week (and not forgetting Bazoo for providing entertainment!!)

Three glorious weeks! The weather has been kind and we have had clear blue skies everyday. We have found the accommodation first class, with everything you need here. We had a problem with our ferry crossing and Jane and Brian went out of their way to help us resolve this. We have swam, cycled and walked to our hearts content and our dog managed to fall in love (least said the better!). We spent a lovely afternoon on the kayaks at La plage du lay, the children enjoyed it very much, it is approx 15 mins away by car. We also visited the go-karts, this was enjoyed on two occasions by David and the boys, aged 11 + 14. My seven year old was too small but she enjoyed the donkey in the next field!
By far our favourite place is the ‘Foret d l’Aventure. This is near the go-karts and it is a vast tree top adventure park with zip lines and many ‘hazardous’ trails through the trees. There are three different levels, a min park for children over 1 metre, a park for children over 1 metre (this my daughter and I did and this was still very challenging and we had a ball). The main adventure level is superb. David and the boys completed this level and it was so good we returned the next week and did it all again!! We spent a day at Les Sables d’Olonne which is a lovely seaside town. The beach is lovely and there is a vast promenades with lots of restaurants and shops.
By far the best times have been spent in and around the gite, our children have lapped up the sunshine and splashed in the pool. We have min-army training schools with Billy and Joey and we have BBQ’d and enjoyed lots of lazy times in the garden. Jand, Brian and the boys (and not forgetting Bazoo) have welcomed us and made this a great holiday, it is with very heavy hearts that we leave but as Arnie once said ‘We shall be back’
