Wonderful house, nice owner and wounderful stay. House is very well equipped, there is everything you may need and you even didnt expected it to be there, for example mask for snorkelling, fishing rod, umbrella... House is situated in very quiet and tranquil place. You can hear sounds of forest, screams of monkeys... only nature. One more important thing - there is no TV - it allows you to go away from reality and relax. Beautiful! Thank you!

Traveled with family. the house is comfort for family staying! everything at the kitchen, everything for cleaning. nice garden with animals. Quiet place around. but two nights we slept too bad cause of dogs bay.
850m from a beach or 15 min by foot. recommend you to visit small cafe close to a main road by the way from the house to a beach. cheap and tasty.
Shaminda helps with everything.

I have just come back from a very enjoyable holiday in Sri Lanka where I stayed at the impressive Babelena House in HIkkaduwa. This is the second time I have stayed in this property which is a lovely large, clean, airy house which is very tastefully decorated throughout. The house has 3 large bedrooms all with a large ensuite shower room. The 2 upstairs bedrooms have a large balcony where you can sunbathe, sit and watch the monkeys swinging in the trees or just enjoy the sunset in the evenings. The downstairs bedroom overlooks the beautifully maintained garden with its abundance of colourful plants. The kitchen is equipped with everything you would need during your stay if you wanted to cook for yourself and there is even a washing machine you can use. The large sheltered patio is perfect for relaxing at any time, whether you are eating your breakfast or enjoying a drink at the end of the day.
Babelena House is situated about a 10 minute stroll from the beautiful beach and small colourful shops in HIkkaduwa. There are plenty of sunbeds available to use on the beach and many different bars where you can enjoy a drink or a meal. At one end of the beach you will also be able to see the large turtles and get the opportunity to feed them.
There are many places of interst nearby that you can visit. Taking a trip in a tuk tuk is an experience and not expensive. We made a 3 day trip which included a visit to Kandy to see the Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic and to Nuwara Eliya with its beautiful scenery and Tea Plantations. On our previous visit we visited Pinnawala where we rode an elephant at the elephant sanctuary and then watched as the elephants walked down the road to the river, a sight not to be missed. We also climbed Sigiriya Rock which was a challenge but the view from the top made it all worthwihle. We also visited the temple at Dambulla. All of these trips were organised by Chaminda from Lanka Surf Trips who is a lovely man who goes out of his way to make sure you get the most from any tour you want to make.
Another very enjoyable holiday at Babelena House in HIkkaduwa.

Just returned from our recent trip to the lovely Hikkaduwa in Sri Lanka and a fantastic time was had by all!! In our group there was 6 of us so we needed a suitable place to accommodate this and Babelena house did not disappoint!!
Firstly the architecture and design of the house is stunning and provides a spacious living environment for which to relax and enjoy after a hard days sun bathing and surfing at the beach -) There are great cooking facilities if you wish to eat in but Hikkaduwa also offers a range of great restaurants so equally great to eat out.
Great features of the house are the patio, great for pre-evening drinks, the spacious double bedrooms all with en-suite facilities, the man made well and also watching the bats fly past in the distance just before sun set every evening is an experience not to be missed!
I would highly recommend this property and Hikkaduwa for a great holiday. Also if on your stay you fancy exploring the country Chaminda from Lanka Surf Trips http://www.lankasurftrips.com/
can organise the details for you at a very reasonable price! We had a great trip with them and went to Kandy, Nuwera Eliya, visited tea plantations and saw the elephants at Pinnuwala (not to be missed!).

After a long flight from the UK we were met at the airport as arranged and were quickly on our way to Babelena House in Hikkaduwa. We were so thrilled in our choice of house, the ceilings are high and the fans do a great job in keeping the place cool and airy – a perfect sanctuary from the heat outside. But go out onto the balcony and Sri Lanka is all around you, we even got to see the monkeys swinging through the trees, chipmunks running along the telephone lines and many colourful birds were spotted. What can I say, beautiful bathrooms fitted to an extremely high standard, comfy beds with gorgeous cushions and throws, a well fitted contemporary kitchen – in fact, everything we needed for our four week stay. Chaminda and Sarah looked after us very well, from the airport transfers, advising us of great restaurants to visit, to help and organization of trips to the many amazing places in visit in Sri Lanka. We will definitely go back – we had a holiday of a lifetime and have no hesitation in recommending Babelena House

My wife and I stayed here earlier in the year.
Where do you start?
The house is obviously new and beautifully designed with its italian styled wet rooms, with hot water! Four poster queen size beds, fully fitted kitchen and a huge lounge with glass on two sides and the highest wood ceiling we have ever seen.
All set in a very quiet cul de sac with a high walled, secluded garden, but just a 10 minute stroll to the beach.
We have stayed in many villas over the years and this has been the most comfortable, clean and peaceful place yet.
Loved it, and will be back next year!
