Amenities
Lovely Lounge, with two seater and three seater settee, hi-fi, wide flat screen TV, cofee table with dining table & chairs leading to ballcony overlooking the pool. Very homely and well equipt as owners use it. One double bed in bedroom 1 and bunkbeds in single bedroom 2. The ceiling fan in bedroom 2 is close to the top bunk and should not be used if children are sleeping in that room for safety reasons.
Local Supermarket - There is a very well stocked supermarket 5 minutes walk away from the apartment in the village of Bolnuevo, which sells fresh as well as tinned and frozen food, it has an excellent delicatessen counter, and fresh meat counter as well as fruit and vegetables. Locally produced as well as imported alcoholic drinks are on sale, together with household items, toiletries, and beach goods. To get there is easy turn left out of the apartment, and walk to the main road, turn right onto the main road and walk straight on into the village the supermarket is on the left of the main road which runs through the village. There are also a couple of other shops selling beach goods and different items. There are many shops in the nearby town of Puerto Mazarron as well as a large supermarket and a daily fish market.
Chemist/Farmacia – this is no more than three minutes away, turn left out of the apartment walk to the main road , the Chemist is on your left at the top of the road just off the main road. There is also a medical centre in nearby Puerto Mazarron.
Restaurants/Cafes/Bars- There is a very good Chinese Restaurant very close by on the main road as you enter the village on the right hand side, about 3 minutes walk away. There are also several other restaurants and bars on the main road in the village. There is an English owned restaurant, where you can buy traditional Sunday lunch (you have to book first). There is also a German owned bar and several traditional Spanish bars and restaurants. If you want more choice then nearby Puerto Mazarron has many bars and restaurants.
Tourist Information Office – This is in the centre of Puerto Mazarron.
Sunday Market – Very colourful and large market selling everything on Sunday Mornings in Puerto Mazarron, near the bus station, you can catch a bus from the village bus stop which will take you to the bus station in Puerto Mazarron, when you arrive, just follow the direction in which most people are walking, as they will be going to the market.
Buses- Buses can be taken from the bus stop in the village on the main road just before you get to the supermarket. Buses into nearby Puerto Mazarron run approximately every hour (see bus timetable in drawers in the lounge) and cost 1 Euro. You can also take buses from the village to the naval city of Cartagena which has the Spanish Naval Headquaerters, large marina and port, museums and many shops. Buses to the capital of the province Murcia can also be taken from the village bus stop but tickets for Cartagena and Murcia must be purchased from the bust station in Puerto Mazarron.
Taxis- There is a taxi rank in Puerto Mazarron at the end of the main promenade in the port. They are approximately 8 euros to the village if you can’t be bothered to take the bus.
Cash Point and Banks – There is a cashpoint in the Campsite in the village, this is also on the way into the village on the left hand side on the main road. There are several banks and cashpoints in nearby Puerto Mazarron.
Leisure Activities -
Beaches -The nearest beach is in Bolnuevo village a five minute walk away, just follow the main road into the village and then take any left turn into a side alley off the main road, and the beach is just there. It is a long wide sandy beach, perfect for sun bathing, you will have to take your own equipment such as towels, and beach chairs, as there are no sun beds available on the beach, although there are a few benches, and there are a couple of bar/restaurants by the beach. Please note some of them will be closed in low season. There are many more sandy beaches in Puerto Mazarron, and some lovely coves, in the surrounding area.
Golf - There is a nine hole golf course on the nearby golf development of Camposol about 15 minutes drive away in land. 18 holes championship course can be found at the famous La Manga resort 45 minutes drive away and also at Fuento Alamo, about 40 minutes drive away.
Walking -This is a lovely area with lots of place to walk, try a walk along the mountain backing Bolnuevo where you will get panoramic views of the village and the bay of Mazarrron ,or along the promenade at the La Bahia area of Puerto Mazarron. There are also several nudist beaches at the western side of Bolnuevo, mainly small rocky coves. Near the marina in Puerto Mazarron there is a scuba diving hire shop near the Hotel Alboran.
Fishing – Plenty of sea fishing to be done here, and there is a fishing tackle shop in nearby Puerto Mazarron should you require it.
Facilities of the Aoartment
Facilities of the Apartment-
Keys – You will have been given a set of keys on arrival. One is for the front door, one is for the exclusive parking space at the front of the apartment, and the other is for the swimming pool gate. Please take care of the keys, and always take them with you, people have in the past accidentally locked them selves out before, and we cannot guarantee that someone can come to your rescue at any given time.
Bed Covers and Linen – There will be more covers and sheets etc in the wardrobe in the main bedroom if you require them.
Heating/Airconditioning- this can be set to hot as well as cold depending on the season, and is located in the lounge. It is powerful enough for the whole apartment if you leave the internal doors open. There is a small heater in the main bedroom and an oil filled radiator should you require this additionally in the winter. The two bedrooms also have ceiling fans. The single bedroom has bunkbeds and and the double bedroom has a double bed.
Hot Water – this is heated by the boiler in the utility area of the kitchen.
Electricity – The electricity in Spain is sometimes temperamental, and can cut out if you have too many electrical appliances on at once. The Fuse box is on the wall by the front door should one of the fuses trip out.
Television – The television has Sky News, EuroSports, BBC World, CNN and Spanish channels, and when the signal is working the main feeview channels such as BBC1 & 2 ITV1, Channel 4
Sterio/DVD – there are operating instructions in the drawer in the lounge, but unfortunatetly they are in Spanish, it is pretty basic to figure out though, and works the same as any English purchased Sterio system and DVD player. There is a selection of DVDs for you to watch and music CDs to listen to. For more of a choice DVD’s can be hired from several shops in Puerto Mazarron.
The Swimming Pool – access to the swimming pool is by going out of the apartment down the stairs and onto the very quiet little street below, turn right onto the street below, and walk a few meters, you will see large double green gates, which you will have to unlock with the key supplied to you. This is for security and too keep out non-residents. You will need to take your own sunbathing equipment to lie around the pool such as towels, inflatable beds etc. There are two showers at either side of the pool and a children’s section.
The local Area
The bay of Mazarron hosts some lovely little fishing villages, and small coves, as well as the town of Puerto Mazarron with its lovely beachfront promenade, many bars shops, and restaurants. There are many beaches in the area, which one can walk from one to the other, mostly sandy. There are also mountains backing the village of Bolnuevo and other parts in the bay, the walks up the mountains provide spectacular views of the surrounding area.
