The Location

The cottage is situated in Abbey Cwm Hir (Abbey in the long valley), a picturesque village tucked away in the Radnorshire hills with character and history, including the ruins of a Cistercian Abbey where it is beleived the headless body of Prince Llewellyn (the last native Prince of Wales) is buried. The cistercian monks founded the Abbey in 1143 and always liked to build in secluded places thus the village sits hidden away from the "outside world" nestling amongst the tree covered hills.
Glyndwrs way national trail and national cycle route 25 pass through the village making it a perfect base for walking/cycling and exploring mid wales and seeing nature at its best. The market town of Rhayader and the Elan Valley is 6.5 miles and the spa town of Llandrindod Wells is 9 miles. The coast is 40 miles.

The Local area is a perfect destination for anyone seeking all year round activities, whether its a gentle amble or energising mountain biking across the rugged hills, the spectacular countryside provides an inspiring backdrop for it all.
