The property is located in a beautiful area, it is ideal for a 3 generation family with Rhayadar and the Elan Valley nearby. There are lovely local walks and a ruined abbey. The locals are friendly and my son and I enjoyed evenings with them in The Happy unio n. The cottage was comfortable, spacious and well presented with both garden and household toys for the children. There are Supermarkets in LLandrindrod Wells. A good break was enjoyed by our group of 7.

We found the cottage for our group very spacious, well-equiped and was very practical and convenient being in close contact with the owners. One slight problem was that we thought that the cottage had wi-fi.

I booked the Happy unio n Cottage for a New Year celebration for myself and 5 friends and we were delighted with the property and its facilities.
Beautiful location (v quiet mind but we were happy with that), excellent facilities within the cottage and a warm welcome from the owners including a homemade bara brith which was delicious and didnt last long!
I would highly recommend the property.
Thank you John & Karen.

What a fantastic location to explore central Wales from, especially the Elan Valley! Very quiet remote location with a pub right next door. Welcoming hosts, who could make this even better if food was available in the pub, youll have to drive at least 6 miles to eat if you dont fancy cooking yourself. We can recommend the Gwystre Inn on the A44 between Rhayader and Crossgates for food though....

The property was very clean and the village and surrounding area were lovely and remote which is what we wanted.
The garden was shared with the pub although apart from one night, it was very quiet. I think the outside of the building could do with a spruce up.
Overall we had a lovely holiday.
Owner reply:
This review from Chris is very honest and intend to repaint the cottage very soon but have just had some repairs done to the roughcast and some new windows inserted and are still waiting for the builders to finish before we start.

We had an amazing holiday at the Happy unio n Tailors Cottage. The property offered everything we could have possibly wished for, in a very beautiful location. The garden was secure and safe for our three small children and the owners were very kind and welcoming.

We thought we had been unlucky when we lost a holiday to Turkey and had to book somewhere late - how wrong could we be! This cottage is, truly, a home form home, made all the more welcoming by the hosts John and Karen. If I could buy a property then this would be the one Id want - quiet, comfortable and finished to a high standard! The surrounding area is a hidden gem - if youve never considered Wales then do not wait any longer! The only downside is the distance to the local pub - a dozen paces is, after all, a long way after a strenuous day in the hills! (Seriously tongue-in-cheek that last bit!!)

The cottage is in an absolutely stunning village. The downstairs is fully functional for 7 people, although the kitchen could be a little larger. The en-suite bedrooms were fantastic, spacious, modern and very clean. The use of the garden for the children was welcomed, and the owners were very warm and accommodating. the proximity to a small post-office, selling essentials was useful (literally next door), and the pub across the yard - is a beautiful, old, exceptionally quiet pub - this was very enticing and useful!
We would definitely recommend this cottage to friends wanting a quiet break, in lovely walking country.

Karen and John are the perfect hosts! The cottage is lovely, well furnished and maintained, and spacious enough for a very comfortable stay. And, the location in the village is lovely. Abbey cwm Hir is located in a great place to be able to do day trips all through central Wales. Remember that the roads being what they are is what makes this the perfect vacation!

The cottage provided us with everything we needed throughout our stay. Especially as three bathrooms were a major priority for the five of us. We enjoyed walks both from the cottage and the neighbouring countryside. The landlord of the pub and cottage owner was extremely friendly and it was a joy to see the lambs just born. If you want a quiet location with easy access to hill walking and/or cycling then this is definetly the cottage for you.
