Villa Da Ponte

Staying in a real venetian Villa of 17th century is something to try once in a life! The frescoed salon is impressive. Seems to return back in the centuries. Great experience. Venezia is easily reachable both by car or, much better, by train (each 30 min from the railway station of Padova). Asolo a splendid village on the near hills, or Abano terme (spa and thermal baths) are few minutes driving far. Verona with his famous operas played in the summer in the romanic Arena is only 1 hour far as the Lake of Garda.Cortina d'Ampezzo ( a splendid mountain place where to go for skiing ) is 1,5 hour driving.

The villa is in a very quiet area. It has a west facing garden, a south facing balcony, interesting views. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

The ground floor rooms are spectacular, a very special place. The apartment upstairs is spacious and comfortable, and we received a warm welcome and helpful advice from our hosts.

This was a very unusual property - a genuinely historic piece of Italy with frescoed ballroom and grand piano downstairs. In the actual flat bedrooms, bathrooms,living room and kitchen were of a high standard. HOWEVER - the description refers to access to a shared swimming pool which turned out to be a public pool 2 km down the road. This was very disappointing for our children - and much missed in the very hot temperatures. On a more minor note the music/radio system referred to in the description was also missing. The owners were friendly and helpful and spoke good English.

Splendid place where staying .Nice to live for a while in a real venetian villa .........Padova is so interesting to visit and Venezia so near........
