Spent a week here in April 2012. Fabulous place to stay. The property is gorgeous and everything you read on this site is absolutely true. The house has everything you could possibly want whatever your age. My sister and I booked to spend the week relaxing and shopping and thats exactly what we did. Everything was spotlessly clean and in working order and the owner could not have done more for us even cheerfully coming out in the middle of the night when we accidentally set off the fire alarm!! Sorry Martin :( We both fell in love with Ireland and especially Youghal. I would recommend hiring a car if you can so you can visit as much of the surrounding area and towns as you can as they are all unique and charming. We will definitely return and would love to stay at either No.3 or No. 4 if Martin and Elise will have us!! Sue and Sally (the sisters from hell haha)

A lovely property with stunning views over the bay. A great place for the larger family with seats for everyone not only in the lounge but also at the dining table.

We loved the house! Clean and tastefully decorated. We visited with our three children and two (80 year old) grandmothers and all of us were very comfortable. The view from the bay windows were stunning and we all enjoyed our daily walk to the beach and into town. This was the perfect location for us since we didnt have any transportation for the first few days. The owners were extremely hospitable and always accessible...we loved our welcome gifts...what a nice personal touch! Thank you Martin & Eliseyou guys are great and were looking forward to visiting again.

The property was very clean - one of the most important aspects we consider. The owner was contactable at all times. sea views brilliant although we did not realise there would be a main road between the property and the beach. No immediate access to the beach as the path next to the lighthouse was no access. Beach was a 10 minute walk away but lovely. Dishwasher washing machine and dryer very useful. good linen supply and great that the house was cleaned as well as linen changed at the end of our first week. The property has been carefully renovated into a great holiday home.there were no fusty old books and dated magazines or unwanted bric a brac etc. cluttering the property! good supply of dvds. The owner deserves this property to be a successful venture. We enjoyed spending time in the house and found it very relaxing with plenty of space for the children to use. Thanks.

Owner reply:
Thanks for the review. Were delighted you had such a good time.

Just to clarify a couple of points. Clifton is on the road into and out of Youghal. Not a main road, but not a quite country lane either. At night the road is virtually empty.

The path next to the lighthouse has been temporarily closed for awaiting renovation. There are large beaches within a few minutes, walking left or right from the front door.

Description of how to action hot water system would of been good. Didnt take long to work out but others may find it difficult.

Owner reply:
Its a fair point.
Guests from wider afield than Ireland and UK may not know how these simple things work here. So a full instruction guide will be made.

What a fantastic stay we had at 3 Clifton! This is the ideal self-catering holiday home. Such attention to detail, making our week free of worries and full of comfort. Especially appreciated the hot water, the washing machine/tumble dryer, and the gorgeous freah flowers. Cant wait to return. Thank you!

This is the best self catering property I have ever rented. We arrived very late to the property and found not only bread, milk, tea and coffee to get us going, but a bottle of wine and some beers to welcome us. Also there were fresh flowers in the dining room, kitchen and lounge. Plenty of fresh towels and everything we could have wanted, including toys for my grandaughter. We were a party of 6 which covered 4 generations and we had plenty of room adn were very comfortable. The location was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone.

3 Clifton is a wonderful place to stay. The house is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and well equipped. It is extremely spacious. There are wonderful views from the bay windows at the front of the house - even better than it looks in the photos. We arrived very late due to a cancelled ferry. Martin, the owner, was very helpful and made sure there was food in the house for our arrival. Youghal town is a 10-15 minute walk in one direction there is a long sandy beach in the opposite direction.

Owner reply:
Its inaccurate to say Youghal town is 10-15 minutes away. 3 Clifton is in Youghal and on the edge of the central town area. The absolute centre of the town is 10 minutes walk away. There are shops and bars within 400 metres.

We , family of 6 persons ,have stayed for one week in the house. It was a wonderful experience beyond our expectations. The house is very comfortable , clean and we have felt there as at home. The appliances have functioned properly, the internet connection was fine and most of all the view from the the rooms to the bay was the best tranquilizer for each one of us. The landlords were very helpful with all the necessary information ( and we have " nagged" them a lot), they are really very nice people. I hope to come back in the future for another vacation.

We stayed for just over a week in May 2009. The property has been beautifully renovated. The property had absolutely everything you could possibly need for a relaxing home away from home. The owners couldnt do enough for us and they even contacted us before we left for Ireland to see what we needed for the house in the way of shopping etc. The beds are very comfortable, the views are stunning (see all other reviews about the amazing window seats - you could sit there all day watching the world go by!) The house has more than enough room for everyone and all of our visitors were very impressed. We are looking forward to going back to stay in the property the next time we are in Youghal - we wouldnt dream of staying anywhere else in the future. Highly recommend staying here - you wont regret it!

Everything about this property exudes quality, relaxation and beauty. From the courtesy phonecall from the owner prior to arriving, the bottle of wine and fresh flowers awaiting us when we arrived to the quiet and tranquil feeling of the house. The house is very spacious, which we needed travelling with a 6 month old and very cosy. I could have spent the whole holiday sitting on the wonderful window seats looking out at the sea and the power walkers traversing the strand. The decor is contemporary and bright and the house was spotlessly clean. Youghal itself is a real little town, not any sort of Blackpool. It has some lovely little local shops and a wonderful restaurant, Ahernes, where we had lunch in the bar. I would definitely recommend it. The town is well placed to visit the surrounding area and we had great days out in Blarney, Lismore, Kinsale and Fota Wildlife Park, the best park of that type we have been to. All in all, it was a great holiday choice, the house was perfectly located, very relaxing with every convenience. I would highly recommend to anyone.

We have many extremely positive things to say about this house. First, location. The house is within easy walking distance of the towns centre with its many shops and excellent pubs, as well as charming, salty fishing quays and ancient architecture. It is also within a few minutes walk past the Lighthouse to the beautiful sandy beaches and strand. Youghal is also within easy driving distance of Midleton (with its amazing Jameson distillery) and Lismore (which its amazing castle and grounds - well worth a visit!). Next, the house itself is admirably furnished and well equipped with stunning views of the Blackwater river and estuary from the front windows and bays on all three floors. The beds are comfortable and fitted with elegant linens. The bathroom facilities are modern and efficient. The kitchen is extremely well equipped as is the washroom. The house offers privacy for all guests as well as beautiful common areas, and the front patio is a great place to eat breakfast or nurse a couple of drinks. The accommodations are most welcoming. Over the three weeks we were there, we had relatives and friends from the U.S., the U.K., France and Belgium, and, with reference to the accommodations, we actually had nine people in the house over our last weekend. All our guests raved about the house and some of them may well return to Youghal. The web site showing the house gave a very accurate description of it as well as the surrounding region. We were very well looked after during our stay. The cleaners came as ordered, and the owners (very charming and cosmopolitan) were always willing to address any of our questions. In sum, being in the field of higher education, we award 3 Clifton an Alpha Double Plus!

I absolutely loved this house! I loved how the original doors and locks were maintained, however a level of modernism was added to keep it useful. The window seat in the living room was far beyond what one would expect from the pictures. Would definitely recommend and would definitely come back.

This is the second time we have stayed at Clifton. We enjoyed our experience so much last year, that we rebooked with our friends for my birthday this year. Our friends came from Japan, UK and Turkey, they all fell in love with the property and had a brilliant time. if you are looking for a stylish, but comfortable home from home with outstanding views, this in our opinion is the best rental in Youghal. The weather was excellent, it got up to 23c in early June! Fantastic!

3 Clifton really is a delightful vacation experience. The location is wonderful with lovely views, plenty to do in Youghal town and many sights and experiences to see in County Cork. Martin and Elise have decorated and equipped the house to a very good and stylish standard and ensure that guests are looked after. The comments book on the hall table is full of highly positive comments and we were pleased to add our own glowing report. We have already recommended it to friends and colleagues. We very much hope to return.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday in Youghal. The house far exceeded our expectations and even the beautiful pictures on this website don't do the house justice. The facilities were excellent for adults (flat-screen tv, dvd, broadband) & children (toys, movies, stair gate) and plenty of kitchen equipment. Over the course of the week we have relatives & friends staying with us and we never felt over-crowded. I would highly recommend this house even for a winter holiday. I could imagine nothing nicer than sitting on the beautiful bay window seat looking out at the views on a cold winters day. Basically no matter what the weather you will feel like your on holidays even if you don't set foot outside.

5 stars We've just returned from a super week at this beautiful house, which looks every bit as good it's shown on the internet. As well as the lovely bright decor and stunning views across the bay, this house is really comfortable with lots of personal touches making it very much a holiday "home". As parents of two small children under age of 4 it was heavenly to relax each evening in that fabulous window seat, looking out to sea! There's a lot to do in the area too, and lots of nice places to eat (our favourite was Aherne's for bar food - great food and very child friendly). We'd definitely love to go back!

The house is perfect. Not too far from town, but at the same time it is in a quiet, section of the coast road. It is ideally placed if, like myself and another of our group, you decide to take part in the annual charity swim at noon on Christmas Day, as you are 5-10 minutes walk from the beach where the event takes place. The views are stunning, especially from the large bay window in the living room. The property was easily large enough, not only to sleep five adults and two children, but to give ample space within to relax, eat, etc. We had four adults and a baby join our party for Christmas dinner, and the Dining table was able to accomodate all eleven adults for dinner, with the two older kids sitting at the breakfast bar. The three Toilets, one with large power Shower and another with a large Bath c/w Overbath Shower Handset, means there is no problem in finding a free Bathroom when you need it. With Basic Satellite TV, and Broadband connection if you bring your laptop (how else can you track Santa's sleigh on Christmas Eve?), there is plenty to keep you occupied when you just want to stay in. I'm sure that there are cheaper places to stay in Youghal, but they probably wouldn't make you feel quite as at home as we did at 3 Clifton. Thouroughly recommended.

What can we say? Thank you Martin and Elise for saving and restoring this beautiful house. We had 8 in our party including 2 teenage boys who loved the property and said they wanted to have a house like this when they grow up! We had a wonderful time. it was the perfect holiday home, every detail appreciated, right down to the Brown Thomas towels. I was born in Youghal and know it well, but this is the first time that we have not stayed with relatives - it was a fantastic experience, breathtaking views, and brilliant weather. There is no where else I would rather be on my next visit to Youghal.

This property was so well equipped on arrival which made a lovely touch. The views were outstanding and the owners checked to see that everything was in order. I would highly recommend Clifton, Youghal, to all my friends. It is decorated to exceptional taste. I loved sitting out on the patio looking out over the most incredible views to sea.

We booked this house as we had to attend a family wedding locally and there was no room left in local hotels, and we had to rely on the information given on the website. The house was a delight and the veiws beautiful. The owners have put extraordinary consideration into the house, equipment above and beyond the call of duty, even to details like matches to light the beautiful candles. They had even put a thorntons chocolate cake and birthday card in the fridge for our daughter who was having her 17th birthday during our stay... we were all delighted. I showed the house to some of my family who were staying in hotels locally and they were all struck with it and have all expressed plans to stay there at a later date. We were not there long enough!! We took 3 of our 5 children all of whom thouroughly enjoyed it.

A great deal of thought and attention has been put into the house. Even before we left England, communication from Martin and Elise was welcoming us to their holiday home and to Ireland. Our questions were answered and we made our way to Youghal confident that everything we needed, that we weren’t bringing with us, would be here. Fantastic news if, like us, you have a baby with you. No. 3 Clifton Terrace is everything that the advertising promises (a rarity in itself.) Being met by the owners demonstrated a level of care we have never before encountered when renting a holiday home. Keep up the good work; this is definitely a winning formula for a relaxing stay. Thank you Nick, Hayley, Lucas, Pat & Brian

We had a fantastic stay at Clifton. The weather was exceptional - warm and sunny in early May. The house is fabulous. I have visited Youghal before and wanted to return and stay there, its such a great spot. But I could not believe how beautiful the house is, and the views are amazing! Every creature comfort is there, and I loved relaxing in the window seats watching the sea, the beach and the boats. 3 Clifton is a real credit to Elise and Martin our hosts.

3 Clifton is a fanstastic house and we really enjoyed our holiday there. The views from the house are stunning, and I loved sitting in the bay windows watching the boats and scanning the sea for dolphins. Its a big house, beautifully decorated and furnished. The boys loved the town of Youghal, going to the beach and the trips out and about. Our one regret is that we only took a short break - but we are definitely coming back next year for 2 weeks, and we're bringing some friends too.

We had a wonderful time. The house is in a superb location, has great character and is very tastefully decorated. I would definitely reccommend it to anyone looking for the best. The view, the forniture quality, the great equipments (digital tv, appliances, ...) and the availability of three bathrooms make, in our opinion, the difference. The owner has provided for great local advice. Our main interest was golf and we have been able to play 10 different courses in two weeks, including the magnificent Old Head (1 hour driving), the great Fota (30 min) and the suprising Gold Coast (40 min.). The Youghal golf course (over a century old) is a short walk distance.

Definitely the best location in Youghal. I'd love to be back, sitting on that big window seat on the 2nd floor, glass of wine in my hand, admiring the fantastic sea views and watching the world stroll by! The description on the webside was spot on, however, he forgot to mention the little things like the fresh flowers, the toys for the children and the warm welcome. Beaches were a short walk away and safe for young children. About a five minute walk to the centre of the town. Lots of interesting places to visit, all within a 45 minute drive. This property is excellent value for money for a large family - or perhaps two families holidaying together. We'll be back!
