Excellent villa, approx 15 mins walk to Tavira. (There is a single track road across from the STOP sign at the road entrance to the villas which takes you down to the town) We hired a car and found that Tavira was central for exploring the Eastern Algarve. Tavira is a lovely town really unspoilt with lovely river walks and great restaurants.
The villa iwas really well equiped and the welcome pack was great plenty of food, wine & beer to last until we could be bothered to visit the supermarket which was about a 5 min drive away.
There was a good selec tion of books to read, however would have been great if there had been some DVDs or board games in the villa but apart from that everything was brilliant.

The property was very clean & well kitted out & the pool/pool area were well maintained to a high level. The walk into Tavira town was a good 20 minutes down a steep hill (not very practical if you had small children) and it would have been nice if there had been a small shop/bar within a comfortable walking distance, instead of having to go all the way into the town.
We managed without a car, as the local taxis were cheap and very reliable, so dont feel obliged to get a hire-car to get around.
Areas for improvement? Just minor niggles really. We only had one key and the patio doors self-locked when pushed shut, so it would have been extremely easy to lock yourself out, a 2nd key would have been handy for peace of mind.
The cushions on the sunbeds were rather tired and could do with replacing, but apart from those minor details, all in all we had a lovely time and thankyou for letting us stay in your property.

Excellent house and location. My family enjoyed staying here. We loved the area. Tavira is 15 minute walk away. Cost of taxi from Tavira to the house 4-5 euros. Tavira is beautiful old sleepy village. Plenty of character and sights to see. The beach is on an island and its great boat trip to get there. overall great house location and we are debating whether to go back next year.

An excellent place to stay but you definately need a car. Loads of space , very clean , just the oven did not work and despite the fact we reported it twice it was not repaired.
Great place for a relaxing & quiet holiday

Absolutely perfect! The welcome pack of food essentials was so appreciated, as we arrived late in the evening. Villa was immaculate, and the area is so peaceful and relaxing.
Loved Tavira itself, and some really pretty towns close by, if you have a car.
Would absolutely recommend! Thank you!

We found the property to be exactly as advertised. It is a quite neighbourhood with very nice neighbours always ready to provide advice on local attractions / value for money, etc.
The local town is unique with excellent restaurants and quite inexpensive.

Nice very clean and well equipped. Food package and drink were well above our expectations. Gerard, the agent and his partner were very helpful. The pool and surroundings were well kept and very quiet. We found the walk into town to be about 20/25 minutes to the centre, but it was a pleasant downhill walk and taxi fare back about 4 euro inc tip .

I thought the property was very clean and well maintained internally as well as externally. The welcome pack of food and drinks is an excepionally nice touch and the agents too were very friendly.
Its a fair walk down to the town centre - more like 25 minutes but its downhill so not too bad.
You do need a car though to get out and about so make sure you have one.
Overall a very pleasant property but a wee bit too far from the town centre for my liking.

Wouldnt recommend to a friend as we want to keep it our little secret!!!! Only kidding - booking again for 2009!
Positives - Fab location, not a tourist in site. Property was ideal, spacious and of a very high standard.
Negtives - None. But make sure you hire a car so you can enjoy this area of Portugal.

A very well presented property. On arrival there was a slight mix up on arrival times but nothing major. The villa is very spacious and all rooms are a good size and having a bathroom on each floor was a great help. Had a few problems with the boiler with the pilot light going out but again not a major problem as we were made aware of this and shown hot to re ignite. As previous comments the pool area can get quite busy at times, however the balcony area is excellent for sunbathing and having a meal. Although there are 3 other villas attached we vary rarely heard any noise from these. The town centre is a good walk away, originally took us a good 35 mins there and 40 back due to hill to the villas but there are short cutts as we found out took us arround 20 mins there and 30 mins back, even with 2 prams. All beaches in the area are reached via a boat. Would also recommend the use of taxis back from the town centre back to the villa cost was under 5 euro.

the property itself is very well maintained, each bedroom is a good size and the bathrooms immaculate. The kitchen is well equipped with all applicances which is great, and the proximity to the pool is great. The terrace was large and we were able to sit out take our meals on the terrace whilst overlooking the pool.
We did however have a couple of complaints.
The summary leads you to believe that a car is not essential, this is not true. A car is a must. The 10 minute walk to Tavira is closer to 30minutes (it takes you 10 minutes to get outside the complex). The beach is only drivable as is the nearest supermarket.
We also experienced problems with no hot water for one night and then several nights after that the boiler would go out "mid shower", the owner has said this has been fixed now.
No hot water aside, our main issue with this was the agent that is employed to be on call 24/7 is not overly helpful. We had to wait 24 hours before he managed to come and look at the boiler in the first instance and other requests were met with reluctance on his part.
Overall we had an enjoyable holiday here, but definiately hire a car and dont rely on the agent to be on call for you!

We really enjoyed our stay in Tavira. The villa was very spacious, plenty of room for 6, everything we needed was provided. Pool was lovely and wasnt crowded while we were there, although a lot of the other villas were unoccupied. A car is probably needed. It is about a 20-25 minute walk to the centre of the town, but there arent any shops any closer. Tavira is a lovely town with plenty of nice restaurants. The castle and miseracordia church are worth a visit. Our prefered beach was Manta Rota, about a 15 minute drive east.

Description didn't say it was a block of 4 villa's, so the noise from neighbouring walls was very annoying. Should imagine that when all the other villa's are occupied the pool area would be very crowded. Otherwise the rooms were nicely furnished and decorated. The "welcome pack" very much appreciated.
Owner reply:
Thanks for the review Peter and I'm glad that you enjoyed the welcome pack and the interior of the house. It's a pity that someone next door was making noise and I will look into ensuring that it won't happen again. Many thanks for recommending the house and I'd love to have you back again.
Regards,Bill.

We all thought your villa was superb. Gerard met us as we arrived and made sure we had all the info we wanted about the villa - a very nice couple.
What a great welcome pack of food & drink you provide just the job when we hadn't had time to shop. The wine selection was superb. We ate out very night so didn't use too much of the provisions but they were very handy to have.
Your villa was great the beds especially were very comfy and we didn't want for anything. Lovely furnishings and nice pool & gardens and very quiet. Certainly up there with the best villas we have rented over the years. The one thing missing was a visitors book which is nice to read other guest comments abour the local area and restaurants they have tried.
Tavira was nice with a good choice of bars/cafes/restaurants to suit all tastes.
We played golf at Benamor which was nice - parkland not over long but in nice condition, and then at Seve's new designed course Quinta do Vale overlooking The river border. Superb course only opened in April good deal on their Summer Special and the greens are the best we have ever played on anywhere. Recommended to any future golfing clients.

A superior villa comfortably and stylishly furnished, offering first-class facilities and equipped to an unusually high standard.
If I were the owner I would not want to rent it out!

Local agent was excellent even babysat for us so we had 2 unexpected adult evenings out.
All beaches are a car ride away.
Many required a short boat or tram trip to get to final destination.....kids found this very exciting

We thought that the total style and provision of equipment was outstanding; as was the welcoming provision of food wine and beer.
The balcony was very attracively set out and gave us a lovely location for socialising, sunbathing and eating.
The help from the agent and her husband was excellent.
Two issues need more explicit clarification in our view
(i) the shared swimming pool unusually does not have a safe shallow end, or a separate pool area for small children.
(ii) the need for a car, especially for accessing beaches should be highlighted more clearly. Perhaps people should be expected to look at a map before they book, but the fact that Tavira is on a lagoon does make access to the major beaches more complicated than is implied in the description.
Thanks for an excellent set up and a really good holiday

We have just returned from a fantastic two weeks in Tavira. The area was perfect, not too commercialised and loads to do. Glorious beaches and wonderful restaurants.
The villa was well appointed (as described) and comfortable. We loved the patio area with BBQ and the pool. Our only disappointments would be lack of seating in lounge, which only seated 4 comfortably, and sadly not being advised to bring our 'sky' viewing card so that we could view the channels we subscribe to - sport, sport and more sport!!!!!
We hope to return soon. Would recommend to anybody.

"My family and I stayed for 2 weeks in the summer of 2006 and had the best holiday of our lives. The town of Tavira was simply wonderful and with such a beautiful house as a base, we looked forward to everyday and didn't want our holiday to end. The property is run professionally and is like a home away from home. Clean, spacious and located in a great development, we would recommend this Villa to anyone who is lucky enough to find it"

We stayed two weeks, July/August, a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Our recommendation is a maximum of 6 people. 4 have good space. Nice property, high standard, calm and tidy. Both the property itself and the surrounding, located in the outskirt of Tavira on top of a hill. You need a car, though, you need however one if you want to see more of Algarve. Very friendly landlord. The property manager was helpful, though there was actually no need for help. On the terrace there was a charcoal bq for nice bq evenings - buy just catched fish and shellfish on the local market down town. The shared pool was big enough for swimming, clean and nice, sometimes a bit crowded. But who need the pool when some of Europes best beaches are close. Extra plus that one could swim in the pool whenever one wanted. A midnight swim under the moon before bedtime is recommended. Will we go back? Definitely an option. We all enjoyed it, even the teenagers.
