Costa del Golf & Things to Do
Well the Costa del Sol doesn’t have the nickname of ‘Costa del Golf’ for nothing! There are nearly 60 golf courses in Andalucia, of which 30 are on the Costa del Sol, so you’ll be spoilt for choice! The wonderful fine weather makes golf popular all year round. The area surrounding Duquesa boasts some of the best golf courses in Europe. Valderrama, which hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup is only 15 minutes away. La Duquesa Golf, Country Club & Spa is only a 5 min walk. La Duquesa Golf Course is a typical Trent Jones layout, demanding concentration and straight driving. The course winds around El Hacho Beacon Hill overlooking the Mediterranean to Africa. At the wonderful 17th hole, just 129m tee to green, but 30m straight down, you should beware of the wind, especially if the Poniente is blowing from the west. Details: 18 holes Par 70. Casares, a beautiful white washed Andalucian mountain village is 15 mins by car. Spend the day experiencing a traditional Spanish 'pueblo'. Ronda is only an hour away by car and is one of the most distinctive and beautiful towns in Spain. It is split in two by the El Tajo gorge. The bullring is the oldest in Spain and worth a visit. Gibraltar is only 25 mins away, don't forget your passport to cross the border. A cable car runs to the top of the rock, where you can meet the Barbary Apes.
La Duquesa Beach & Marina
5 min drive to La Duquesa beach, a large sandy beach, perfect for families, with beach bars and volleyball net. Walk the promenade all the way to Sabinillas beach, about a mile, to enjoy the views to Estepona and the rest of the New Golden Mile.
The port & marina of La Duquesa has a variety of great bars and restaurants, as well as gift shops, DVD hire and internet cafes. Several large supermarkets are within a few minutes drive, the largest being the Carrefour in Estepona with everything you'll ever need and more!
