We had a lovely time here. The accommodation was simple but clean and excellent value for money. We were extremely well looked after from arrival through to our departure.

A stunning location and the lodge is so sweet and spotlessly clean. Has everything you need. Outside sitting areas (yes more than one) excellent. Wonderful to find you can take a lemon off a tree for your G & T!!! Not to mention breakfasting on fresh pink grapefruit which you can also pick from the garden. A real sun trap Bill and Judy the owners are so very kind and helpful and could not be kinder. Bill (sorry Judy :-) ) but I think I love you!! What a poppet you are - I miss your little evening walk into the garden to pick your apricots (oh yes, there are apricots as well). Thank you both so much.

Owners very helpful and friendly. Property is close to owners. The pool is at the front of the owners house. Local dogs can be noisy hence their reference to some noise in details. Accommodation clean and comfortable. Very enjoyable for a couple but might be too cut off for children. Very Spanish area which made for a good holiday but dont expect people to speak English!

Villa Mercedes is a gorgeous little villa set in tranquil, rural surroundings. The villa itself was beautifully clean, with a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. The owners made us feel immediately welcome with bathroom and kitchen provisions (even fresh bread and cold beers!) that went well beyond what you would normally expect to find, and this was especially helpful in terms of little things like washing up liquid, English tea bags and other comforts you wouldnt want to spend money on just for a weeks holiday. Bill and Judy were also very helpful and informative during our stay, and looked after us in every way no matter how small. The pool was a massive bonus and a real asset to the property.
As for the surrounding area, it was just what we needed: proper Spain, away from the crowds, very pretty and traditional. Having said that, youre only 45 mins from Seville, where we visited the stunning cathedral, ate tapas and had a lovely boat cruise on the river. Youre 30 mins from a fairly large beach resort (Matalascanas - Spanish holidaymakers mostly when we visited). There are also the beautiful little towns of La Palma and El Rocio to explore, the latter being highly reminiscent of the old American West with dusty saloons, sandy squares and horses galore.
I cannot recommend this villa highly enough for those looking for a simple slice of peaceful Spanish countryside with charming English hosts. Superb value for money, the photos dont do it justice, and exceeded our expectations in every way.
Thanks Bill and Judy!
Tom Eve and Madeline.

We had a most enjoyable and relaxing stay at Villa Mercedes.
Bill and Judy were most helpful and informative.
We would not hesitate to recommend this location to anyone that wants a relaxing holiday in rural Spain away from the more hectic tourist resorts.

From the moment we arrived, and during our stay, we found Bill and Judy to be very good hosts and a nice couple. They not only showed an interest in how we were getting on, they also knew an awful lot of information about the region and places to visit. The lodge is located in a rural location, yet close to local towns i.e La palma and the local supermarket. For us, we found that the location of the lodge was ideal for us to use as a base to enable us to take day trips out. There are some lovely beaches (particularily Punta Umbria) within driving distance, and some some nice restaurants when you get there. The waterpark was great fun, and La rocia (sandy city) was very interesting. All in all, we had a fantastic time.

We had an enjoyable week staying at Mercedes Lodge. We would recommend it to our friends, if like us they prefer a flavour of the real Spain, rather than being with hoards of English tourists. It was very clean (a real treat to have it cleaned and supplied with clean towels/bedding half way through our stay)and comfortable with good Air Con. in the bedroom. It was perfectly adequate for 2 adults & 2 children, but would be a little cramped for 4 adults. Also if travelling with young children or poor swimmers be aware that the swimming pool is not right next to the actual lodge, but is about 20 metres away round the front of the owners villa. This was not a problem for us with confident swimmers aged 9 & 12. It was conveniently placed for supermarkets (good value Carrefour, 10 mins drive), pretty real villages and trips to the beach (about 40 mins drive) Our hosts, Bill & Judy were always readily available with useful information, maps, directions etc and could not have been more helpful!

The villa is situated in a very rural part of Andalucia yet is very conveniently located for visting the coast, Seville, Cadiz & Portugal.
The villa itself is spotlessly clean, comfortable & the bedrrom is air conditioned. The pool is really great to have on hand. Its a 10 minute drive to the various small towns nearby so is most suitable for those who dont mind driving or who can enjoy a bit of self catering and chilling out around the villa. Bill & Judy were charming hosts and made our stay a very enjoyable one.

We wanted a quiet holiday with places to explore but free from hordes of tourists. Thats exactly what we found.
A perfect base to explore Seville and the surrounding areas.
Accomodation has a pool and a private terrace area, and everything is in place for you to have a relaxing break.
Bill and Judy were charming hosts, providing advice on where to go (and how to get there).
We had a wonderful time and huge thanks to Bill and Judy for making it as pleasant as it was.

We had an excellent holiday in every respect. The area is very indicative of real Spain - very few tourists, but lots to explore. The property is ideally situated with excellent access to well signposted routes for Seville, Jerez and Huelva. Couple this with the help and advice of our excellent hosts and we didnt miss a thing. The accommodation is everything you could need for a relaxing break with plenty of facilities within a few minutes drive.

If you are looking for a quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of a busy city life, this is the place to stay! We were looking for just that, time away from it all and the Mercedes Lodge provided us with just what we needed! Upon arrival to the rural house we were greeted the wonderful owners who had arranged the house perfectly for us (fresh bread and all!!) and welcomed us and our dog with smile! The house was furnished with everything and more that we needed to make the house ours for the duration of our stay. From the pool to the privacy of the terrace we fell quickly into a much needed relaxed pace and enjoyed every minute of it. Within only a car drive we were able to access a supermarket, towns, and the beaches. A big thank you to Bill and Judy for their hospitality!
