Property and local area description

The Austrian Chalet

A luxury high spec chalet in the Austrian Alps, perfect for a family of 4 - 6 looking for a week away for skiing, mountain walking or just to get away from it all.

The newly built chalet is fully equipped with integrated applicances and flat screen tvs in both bedrooms and in the lounge.

The lounge tv is also HD ready and comes with a HD dvd player, a large selection of dvd titles and a playstation 2 with games for the children. There is also a satellite link up with bbc and sky news channels and Euro Sport and Euro MTV. There is a poker set for those late night holiday poker games.

The master bedroom even comes with a surround sound system so if you fancy a day off from the slopes or being active you can lie back and enjoy movies all day long!

Activities
A car really is essential to the make the best use of the local attractions - this really is a stunning area in Southern Austria with lots to do.

Murau is good for local shopping and taking a relaxing coffee. Salzburg has some wonderful sites and fantastic shopping and is of course the home of both Mozart and the Sound of Music.

On the way to the chalet from Salzburg you will pass Hehen Werfen, an impregnable castle which was used in the film Where Eagles Dare.

For skiers there are three main ski areas - Kreischberg (approx 10 mins drive or take the tram - 50 kms of piste), Turracher Hoehe (approx 25 mins drive - 50 kms of piste) and Obertauern (30 mins drive - home to the Austrian Ski Team and a fantastic 120 kms of piste in a tree lined bowl). However, the area is also dotted with ski resorts for you to discover - so pop the skis in the boot and go discover!

In summer the steam train runs locally, there is swimming in the lake nearby and for those who dare the tobaggan run at Turracher Hoehe! There are two dedicated cycle tracks (which are flat!) with bikes available locally to hire - if you get tired you can jump onto the tram which runs locally.

For those who like to take things a little easier there are fantastic spas at both Turracher Hoehe and Kreischberg (the aptly named relax resort at bottom of the Kreischberg cable car).

The ski chalet is in a quiet area but you may hear occasional noise. It has access to a shared swimming pool, a east facing garden, a east facing patio area, panoramic views. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

We had a lovely stay at the chalet, once it had heated up it was snug and cosy even though very cold outside. Kitchen is small, but well equipped. Lovely rooms with a great selec tion of DVDs and books offered. The Kreischberg is easily accessible by car and the chalet an excellent base for skiing there.

We had lovely holiday last week, skiing at Kreischberg was great, so was the chalet. We might be back in summer - I believe it must be wonderful, too.

“A note to say what a brilliant time we all had at your chalet. The weather was excellent, which helps, and we walked, bicycled and drank wine with abandon. All great fun! The chalet was deceptively spacious. We all fitted in without any difficulty and there was lots of room for eating, chilling, reading and watching DVD’s. It is such a lovely area and I suspect the skiing will be excellent for the moderate skier or those of us who no longer wish to hurl ourselves down vertical slopes at high speed! Thank you again. We loved it!”
