There is something about Kalkan which grabs you on your first visit, you’ll no doubt find yourself, as most people do, booking a return trip. We fell in love with one area in particular, Kisla. Due to its location away from the centre of Kalkan, the area is quiet and secluded, perfect for total relaxation.

The luxurious apartment boasts spectacular views across Kalkan Bay to the mountains opposite and its position affords some of the best sunsets on offer. Perfect for watching the sun go down from the pool terrace on a balmy summers evening with a glass of your favourite tipple. Indeed, "Moondarra" is an Australian Aboriginal word meaning "dusk".

The contemporary accommodation is furnished to a high standard with ample wardrobe space, fully equipped kitchen and a spacious, contemporary bathroom, whilst outside there is a generous terrace area with sunloungers, dining table and barbeque.

The apartment is cleaned with fresh linen and towels supplied twice weekly. We also provide you with a Welcome Pack of necessities to get you under way.

Situated a mere 100 metres from the local beach club, easy access can be gained to the sea, whilst Kalkan town centre which has an extensive range of restaurants, bars and shops is approximately 2km from the apartment. This distance is walkable (being less mountainous than some areas of Kalkan) but there is a boat service which runs from the beach club. In addition, ample taxis are available.. Kisla itself has a small general store offering basic provisions and a cafe in addition to the beach club serve basic meals. For a more substantial dining experience, excellent restaurants at the Fidanka Hotel and Villa Mahal are just a short stroll from the apartment.

Kalkan – Jewel of the Turquoise Coast
Kalkan’s appeal is that it offers far more than the average sun and sea holiday. If you prefer getting away from the major tourist crowds, then youll appreciate the quiet ambiance of Kalkan. Comparatively untouched by mass development, this quaint resort lies in a lovely bay and is a fascinating fusion of the old and new. The English press have compared Kalkan to the Italian Riviera, with its whitewashed buildings that abound with bougainvillea lining narrow streets that meander down towards the harbour.

During the day, you can stroll the stone streets exploring the many and varied shops selling antiques, crafts, jewellery, carpets and clothing or just wander to any of the busy cafes and bars for a refreshing chilled beer.

For Beach Lovers, there are numerous beach clubs around Kalkan bay, most offering light snacks and refreshments in addition to the usual sunlounger hire. Many of these can be accessed by a free boat service from the harbour. Kalkan itself has a modest pebbled beach next to the harbour.

At night Kalkan adopts another persona, as you ramble through the streets you hear the sound of jazz mixed in with traditional Turkish music. The smells from the many restaurants entice your senses and with a choice of more than 100 you need never eat in the same place twice. The al-fresco dining experience is enhanced by views of the sea, sky and twinkling lights of the town from the many rooftop establishments . Unlike other coastal resorts, you will not be exposed to a boisterous night scene in Kalkan as the nightlife here is fun and relaxed, yet low-key. Nor will you find yourself being hassled by restaurateurs or shop vendors. So sit back and enjoy the warmth of the renowned Turkish hospitality.

With all that it has to offer, it is no surprise that Kalkan has a growing number of perennial visitors who say the town is the only holiday destination they would choose to visit repeatedly.


Relax or explore? The choice is yours!
You may decide to spend your days in Kalkan doing nothing more than relaxing by the pool, with the odd trip into town for a spot of shopping. If this is the case, then a car is not essential. However, there is no doubt that hiring a vehicle for a day or two will allow you to make the most of this fascinating area by exploring further afield.

For those craving the feel of sand between their toes, a visit to Patara Beach is a must. Its eighteen kilometres of soft white sand, in recent years won a "best beach in the world" survey in the Sunday Times. Patara can be accessed by car or dolmus (local bus service) and is approximately 25 minutes away. Alternatively try a dip in the turquoise blue waters at Kaputas beach a short 10 minute drive from the apartment.

One of the best ways of getting to know Kalkan and surrounding area is to take a boat trip. Small and medium size boats leave Kalkan harbour at about 10.00 each morning and return in the late afternoon and most Captains will include a light lunch on board with drinks available from the bar. The trip will also incorporate plenty of chances for swimming at various stops throughout the day. Moonlight cruises can also be arranged and are especially romantic.

If you have a keen interest in history then you will find plenty to occupy you in this area which has a wealth of ancient sites to visit. The site of the old Roman town at Patara with its remarkably well preserved bath houses, ampthitheatre, stoa and lighthouse is truly fascinating. Also worth a visit are sites at Letoon, Xanthos and Tlos to name but a few.

Alternatively, for more energetic holidaymakers, walking in the cool mountains, horse riding, having a go at paragliding or sampling the various water sports on offer are all possibilities.
