Barbara’s Villa Dahab....
This is quite simply outdoor living at its very best. The villa itself was built around three enormous palm trees which rise like GIANT bean stalks into the sky above. This then is your living room, open to the sky above. Only the vastness of the palm leaves act as a canopy above and reflect both light and natural moon light back through into the villa the ambiance is therefore stunning both during the day as well as at night.
The three main bedrooms hug this central indoor courtyard by flanking its sides, whilst the vast wooden staircase rises from the rear to the wide open terrace above. We spent many an hour up here either sunning ourselves during the day or playing backgammon at night. As if this was not enough to make you realise you are somewhere special, like no-where else there is a wooden foot bridge that spans the whole canopy resting upon the bedroom walls below. WOW what a touch.... this footbridge then leads you to an independent bedroom tucked away in the corner like a tree house.
As a family of three, we took our 13 year old daughter with us, who at first glance was horrified to discover we had rented a villa with no roof but is was not just the building that melted her heart – it was the large open garden with no less than a further eleven fully mature palm trees huddled together in the middle supporting no less than three hammocks swinging gently in the breeze. This place is quite simply amazing it oozes peace and tranquillity. Our host Barbara, stood quietly in the shadows, never once intruding on our privacy, yet ready to handle any task we ask of her. We found the locals to be the friendliest Egyptians we have ever met again never obtrusive or demanding.
This villa is situated just twelve paces from the beach, whose tranquil warm waters of shimmering blues and greens ran at least one hundred meters at waist level before it hit the coral reef and the deep blue sea, absolutely perfect for both snorkelling and of cause Diving. Then each night we walked along the beach to the hub of Dahab and the many restaurants that line its coast. Here we ate like lords for the whole two weeks and not once did we experience Pharaohs Revenge.....
All-in-all we had a fantastic time and would not hesitate to recommend Barbara’s Villa to friends and family alike we are already planning our next trip over....

I warmly recommend Villa Barbara as a quiet, peaceful and lovely place to stay in Dahab. We stayed there as a family of five in October 2012, and really enjoyed the garden, the open air living room, the top terrace, the closeness to the sea who is at the doorstep, and the convenience to access all amenities and diving places at a short taxi ride.
Barbara the owner is kind and helpful and goes out of her way to make your stay comfortable, including helping with booking airport transfers and shopping for simple groceries to find on arrival.
We are looking forward to return in the future!

Barbara is an excellent host, there when you need her, but never intrusive. The villa is unusual and delightful, having a central internal garden with palm trees, open to the skies at its heart. All the fittings and equipment work, as does the Wi-Fi connection and a trusty Dutch bicycle, which are both included. The surroundings and general neighbourhood are quiet and away from the hustle of Dehab central. Out along the beach there are many safe places to swim and snorkel, best when he tide is up, but great for paddling even at low tide (swim-shoes advised). The reef is less than 100m off shore. In the villas garden, theres a fresh water shower to wash off any salt after swimming as well as plenty of places to sit or stretch out in the dappled shade of more palm trees. The whole place oozes restful tranquility but is also ideally placed as a staging post for excursions near and far. We love it and will be back!

We have just spent a lovely, quiet week in Villa Barbara in Dahab. The Villa is situated just few meters from the sea, surrounding by amazing mountains. We have been to Egypt for the very first time, a bit worried about the situation we could follow in media...but we were surprised how friendly all the local people were and how saved&relaxed could we feel all the time. Also, Mrs.Barbara was so kind that she suggested us where is the best place to buy souvenirs, where&what to eat, like also where to swim&snorkelling (which from now-I love!!!). The weather was great&we came back to UK with a healthy tan:) We wish we could go back there soon! Asia.

I really liked the property and its location. It is slightly off the beaten track in Dahab with the local camels and goats as residents at the end of the road.
The villa itself is very unusual with an open roof and date trees inside!
It is advertised as having 4 bedrooms - one is on the roof that was not usable by us due to the heat and it hadnt been cleaned out.
As we visited in August we need the airconditioning on all night long in all 3 bedrooms but could only have it on in 2 bedrooms at a time. So I would recommend visiting but not in the height of summer!
Locals are very friendly and the garden area is secluded and relaxing. The beach outside the villa is pretty messy, littered with empty water bottles etc so we didnt feel like relaxing on this part of the beach but the sea is beautiful and the beach is cleaned just 10 minutes walk from the villa.

The Villa is gorgeous, if not slightly smaller than it appears in the photos but big garden and lovely for evening relaxing. The electricity is slightly restricted in Eygpt so be warned re the air con if you go in August like we did - it was between 40 -50 degrees and it was restricted for 3 bedrooms ! There were 8 of us - 2 families of 4 and it worked well and the kids were safe to roam the villa (except perhaps the balcony for v little ones). Dahab is very safe and the locals are very easy going and the neighbours very helpful and friendly inc Samir, the housekeeper and his family who looked after us very well. The local fresh produce from the shops is limited due to the heat but good super market in Dahab and we found all the food fine to eat inc the local rotisserie and fish place in the square - great on the bbq ! Whilst the sea is beautiful and great for swimming, the beach is not necessarily suitable for relaxing on all day but all the local hotels offer swimming pool facilities and sun loungers for small charges, which we found worked better for children. The place has a real homely feel and has all the facilities you need for a holiday. Thank you Barbara for sharing your home ! we had a great holiday - one to remember.

Villa Barbara is a lovely house 10 yards from the sea. It has a delightful inner courtyard/living area, shaded by palm trees. Waking in the morning to the sounds of birds, the wind in the palms and the sea. Open the front doors and you step down in to a vast garden area, again shaded by multiple palm trees, very unusual in Dahab to have such a large outdoor area. The bedrooms are extremely spacious, and cool, but all have aircon should you need it.
Although the owner Barbara was not around when we were there, she has a very able and friendly local guy to ensure that any queries are answered, and to point you in the right direction for shops etc. He also had the bike fixed and ready to roll within a couple of hours of us asking about it.
For a relaxing, peaceful, get away from it all holiday (our first with our 8 month old daughter) we had a fantastic time. We were extremely well looked after, Barbara even had a wooden high chair specially made. We would definitely recommend a visit to Villa Barbara in Dahab

Exceptional place among other accommodation spots in Dahab. Comfortable, cozy, stylish interior more European still with Arabic dash. The villa is placed next to the wild beach in the Assala section of Dahab. The owner, Barbara is helpful hostess and a great person.

We discovered Villa Barbara quite by accident, we asked the owner of a delightful fish restaurant (Abu Youssef) if he knew of any decent local accommodation at a reasonable price. He introduced us to Barbara who by chance was standing right next to us.Barbara invited us to have a look and to decide for ourselves if we approved....
It was ,without question, the cleanest and most stylish place to stay in Dahab, maybe all of Egypt ! Villa Barbara is a stones throw from the Red sea, it has a large courtyard with barbecue and comfortable seating. The villa has beautiful rooms, bespoke design and mosquito nets over the beds. Open plan foyer with palm trees growing in the middle! A functioning kitchen and clean, modern bathrooms.
Touring Egypt in a month was difficult and dirty but Villa Barbara provided the perfect antidote, we stayed 4 nights and managed to properly relax. I will definitely return with my family. Thank you Barbara for making our holiday an unforgettably special experience.
xx

The greatest holidays ever!!
I ll try to paint a picture here, but believe me, no words can describe this better then experience.
First of all imagine that you,re waking up, and the first thing you do is diving in front of your house and under water sightseeing. There are extraordinary ocean views.
The hostess Barbara showed us the most beautiful coral reefs, most unseen species of fish, she helped us to organize Beduin night (night on the desert), Camel trip, boat ride and many many more fantastic adventures that we would never arrange by ourselves. She knows people who lives there, and she really now where to go and what to see.
The atmosphere in villa is amazing!! Weve had our own garden, we were relaxing after all day under the palm trees reading book in quiet or we went to have some fun in local charming restaurants.
It is really worth to go there, visit Villa Barbara, and Barbara herself. You will never forget this vacations :)

Bright and cozy villa, with European standards and oriental mood. Beautiful surroundings, quiet and peaceful. The gate leads straight to the beach which is not used by many people like in hotels so youll always have enough room to put your towels. Views are extraordinary, mountains on the left hand side, Akaba Bay at the front and right hand side Short walk to shops with food and easy 10-15 minutes walk to the town by the sea side. The owner is friendly and will be your guide in the town if that is your wish. Prices are low which doesnt happen very often to be honest
I would and I am recommending that place to my friends.

Beautiful house, with charming atmosphere, very clean and well organised. A big garden, patio and terraces allow you to enjoy stars and sun. Sea with reef just in front of the house is super for snorkelling and swimming at any time. Great place for relaxing, comfortable holiday. Our host-Barbara provided us European standard service and was very helpful with all arrangements, including trips and food delivery, even from restaurants that do not provide that service on regular basis. Her efficiency in resolving a power cut (out of her control) was very comforting. Even then we had a moon lit night with stars which added to the romance of the place. My only comment is that it would be extremely helpful if she can add a microwave in the kitchen. Welcome drinks and fruits were good start. We hope to come back there again and would recommend anyone to stay there

Thi property was more suited to more able bodied people than us as we had one of us on chruches and could not move around as well as we should have
