The overall rating is of a functional house, but with still some equipments that some times went on and off or failed to work properly.
Position fair, a bit far from the seaside and also the little road to access to the property was badly keeped.
Lock of the door really bad and very difficult to open the doors..We needed to put lots of pressure while turning the keys.
Air conditioning in the room was not working.

Good value for the money. However they really need to replace the queen/full size beds because they are VERY NOISY and make it difficult to get a good nights rest.

The house was very nice, the walk to the beach was only 5 minutes with the two local dogs that tagged along, we name them scooter and scootee, they even went swimming with us on the beach. Great added protection, but the island is very safe.
The only complaint is that the water in the shower in the second room did not work, need better lighting for women to get dresss, add a dressers for personal items in both rooms and a long mirror, one must take a 2nd look before walking out the door.
Overall the house was great and in a great location.

Overall I was satisified with the property. It was clean and good shape. Only a few minor things. The cooking pans were rusted, the beds squeaked (a lot) and the one of the two bedrooms did not have airconditioning. None of these were a big issue. A George forman was available and that made cooking easier. The kitchen was well stocked, but bring your own soap for showering.
We chose this property because it met our budget needs and for the price, it was very good. We wanted to be directly on the beach but that was not in the budget. and knew it was the property was across the street. Once we found out the beach front property across the street was not occupied, cutting through to the beach was much easier than walking 1/2 mile down the road and taking the "official Beach access path" The Official beach access path was a little steep and rocky for my Father.
I was very satisifed with the level of service. Sue and Bill were very accessable to resolve any concerns quickly. She was also extremely helpful when my daughter became very ill on a weekend. She was able to directly contact the local nurse and have them open the clinic on a Saturday morning and have the Dr meet us.
It was helpful to have a cell phone making my ability to contact sue or bill very easy.
If we cannot affort beach front property in the future, I would consider to use this property again.

My brother and I decided to try out bone fishing in Great Exuma. We fished on different islands in the Bahamas before and prefer to stay in vacation homes rather than hotels. We were met at the airport by the caretaker and drove a short distance to the cottage. The cottage was clean and was very well equipped. We even had access to an electric BBQ grill, although we would have preferred charcoal. It worked fine.
The bone fishing on the flats was fantastic! The guide Mr. Rolle picked us up from the cottage .
We befriended few Italians who were staying at a bed and breakfast up the street from the cottage and of a few occasions we accompanied them to the beach across the street. It took us 4 to 5 minute walk to get to beach pathway. The beach was as described to us, the sand was very fine and soft and the water was very clear and calm. In my travels throughout these islands this was by far the most beautiful beach I have seen. The caretaker (Mr. Cutis) who stays next door was a good source of information, and he gave us rides into town on several occasions.
We enjoyed our trip and we plan to returning in April 2010. I highly recommend Hoopers Bay Villas, our expectations were exceeded.

Although we enjoyed our stay at Hooper Bay Villas this month we had a really hard time finding the beach access that the hotels website claims to be a 5 minute walk away. We spoke with many locals residents who advised us that they have had problems with other guest thinking there is beach access close to the Cottages but that across the street was really private property.
In the end we were able to find public beaches but we had to take taxis which were an average of $30USD a day. Had we known this ahead of time we may have considered a beach front property and paid a bit more money.
Upon return from my trip I did share my feedback with the Cottages "Guest Services" and was accused of basically not being able to see it which dismayed me quite a bit since we had spent so much time looking and asking people where the public access to the beach was. The hotel proceeded to email me photos of the "path" to the beach and I truly wish I could post what they sent me (at the request of the hotel I have been asked not to upload these photos) because they show a unmarked, leaf covered path about as wide as a person with no markers (like the rest of the public beaches on the island) and going down what looks to be the side of someones property on a steep hill. To me this shows that if the beach did infact exist then it was near impossible to find.
Again, the accommodations themselves and the service provided at the hotel were great, however due to the negative correspondence upon my return and not being able to easily access the beach I would not recommend this hotel.

Very nice and clean with everything that had been described. Quiet but not too far from everything. A five minute walk to a beautiful beach. Someone available to help with any questions we had.

It isnt a one-minute-walk to the beach (except you cross private property), it takes you about 5 minutes to get there. Ask at your arrival for the way to the "public" beach access.
