I visited Shades Apartments #6 over the New Years holiday. It was very nice. I was somewhat weary about staying at locations I have never seen before, however, the property was referred from a friend.
Upon arrival at the apartment, I noticed the unit looked exactly as it did on its advertisement on the internet. The unit was modern, and very clean.
The managers of Shades are soo exceptionally nice. They will do whatever it takes for you to have a very relaxing vacation.
You are close to the beach!!!! Overall, its a very good location. I dont think you will be disappointed!!!

I booked to stay at Shades in October 2008 and I have the honour of being the very first guest to stay in this apartment! My partner and I chose this venue as my friend decided this was the perfect place to hold her wedding and she was right.
The gardens are sumptuous! My family are from Barbados and I am no stranger to the Island, but I have always previously stayed in beach areas (Silver Sands) and was blown away with the lushness of the vegetation. Beautifully kept and enough nooks and crannies to disappear into and explore - you can be by yourself with your own thoughts and I love that. The shower in the garden is a brilliant idea when youve just got back from the beach with sand all over! Nice touch.
The apartment itself:-
Good sized living room with enough statelite channels to keep my sports/music mad partner happy! It was like being at home from home, just the weather is a million times better!
The kitchen was amply stocked with utensils, crockery and white goods. My one wish was that there were more cleaning products in the property (Im a bit of a clean freak) but as we were the first couple to stay there, I suspect they just didnt have time to add washing up liquid etc in. I found it easy to prepare meals in the well designed kitchenette and my second mum who lives in Barbados on visiting exclaimed, "But wait! You have a better place dan me here ya know!. I want a place like dis!" Shes normally so hard to please!
The bathroom was great - huge shower area (big enough to fit two people if you are like me or four if you are not *wink wink*).
The bedroom was huge and housed the air conditioning unit which in the hands of my partner is capable of turning the whole apartment into Siberian temperatures (I will hide the remote from him on my next stay!!!!!!). The king size bed was comfortable and the quality of the linen was excellent, which is important if you have sensitive skin like me.
The owners and staff:-
I cannot put into words how wonderful Jackie, Bernard, Mr McCollins & Errol were! Jackie made sure we were comfortable and knew where everything was and Bernard and Mr McCollins (father & son owners) were welcoming and gave us plenty of jokes, love and most of all BIG smiles! Errol, Bernards brother came for a short part of our stay and has obviously got the McCollins charm and winning smile!. We sat, sharing a beer or two with the McCollins boys on our private patio and it was if weve known them for ever (ironic as it was only as we came home I found out that my mum worked closely with the late Mrs McCollins for years they had been quite close!) chatting and sharing a cold beer. I think I fell in love with all three McCollins men and up to a week ago (8 months after our return to Blighty) my partner was still referring to Jackie as his girlfriend!
All in all I would highly recommend this property and Shades as a whole. Off the beaten track and a gem amongst rocks.
