Beautiful property with a very well-maintained garden, a large swimming pool and plays for kids. We really appreciated our stay and the cordial welcome of the owner.
Main points for attention :
- the swimming pool is under the trees and we had to clean it daily (at least, 30mn a day) the first week, the water smelt bad but after the intervention of a external provider mandated by the owner, the swimming pool was perfect with the hot water option (necessary, even in summer)
- the house is very clean but gets older : dishwasher out of order the first week, no cold water in the bathtube, some mould in the showers
- quiet environment but you may be woke up by the high number of dogs in the neighbourhood

This is an excellent holiday villa for family and friends spacious, beautiful and have everything you need from children play area, pool to adults reading/relaxing corners. The pleasure of picking homegrown fruits from the villa for breakfast was wonderful. The owners Indians home delivery added extra comfort while we were all tired with cooking or going out for dinner. We will use it again and highly recommend to friends. Thanks Avani for being a great host. Greetings from the Ellis family and friends.

More than our expectation we had at this villa and i would certainly say at Portugal... Weather did not betrayed us... we had sunny days with big heated pool...Hmmm. spacious and nicely decorated home with good hospitality of the owners.
Great treat was fresh fruits plucking from the garden and eating..
Would certainly recommend the villa..only thing is must in Portugal is GPS in your car..

We had a wonderful time in Lisbon and the villa. The owners were really nice and helpful. Villa was really spacious and the garden was beautiful. It was nice to pick fresh oranges from the trees. Golf courses and shopping centers were quite near.
Only minus was that the villa was really cold, because we didnt realize to order the central heating before arriving to the villa. Luckily the heating started to work few days after. There were also problems with the electricity. It was probably because of the pool heating. We dont recommend the pool heating because it causes so many electricity problems.

As a family of 6adults and 5 children we all had a wonderful holiday at this villa. The villa was very spacious and well equipped and the outside area was outstanding with plenty of areas to relax or play. The children enjoyed the pool and we would definitely recommend heating it.Although we had some difficulty finding the villa it was well situated for visiting beaches and towns. The owner was very pleasant and most helpful. We would definitely reecommend this villa for families

A wonderful house with a lovely garden in a great location. We stayed for two weeks with 3 adults and 4 small children and loved it.
The house is very large and the garden even larger, it is a great place for a vacation. The kids playground is super. The owner is very helpful and there is a selec tion of guidebooks and brochures of things to do. Sintra is 15 minutes in the car, the sea is 25 minutes away and central Lisbon is half an hour. Absolutely perfect for families who want a mix of culture and relaxing. Only comment is that heating the pool is on the expensive side certainly considering the fact that the water is still pretty chilly.
We will gladly return to this wonderful place.

Villa was lovely with excellent gardens and great location near to Lisbon, Sintra, Ericeira, Mafra and yes most beautiful Obidos. Swimming pool was lovely and warm. Restaurants nearby in Dona Maria and Vale de Lobos were fantastic, highly reccommend. All in all a very good holiday home.
We stayed a week and children were so used to with the villa were not ready to leave it.. Yes..owner is very helpful...We will never forget the warm welcome with great Indian tea and a delicious cake.

The pictures dont do the villa justice. The charm, beauty, comfort far exceed what the pictures depict. So much thought has gone into this property and how it was developed and it shows.
I have never rented a villa or any other vacation spot over the internet before and was concerned at first. After this experience, I would never hesitate to rent again. Not only was the villa wonderful, but the owner of the property is a special person who is not only gracious, friendly and kind hearted. But she goes out of her way to make your time at the farm the best experience you could wish for.
I am blessed for having taken a chance and renting this villa becuase I had the best vacation in years and made a new friend.

We can acknowledge all the positive statements of the previous reviews. We spent our 2 week-holiday in August 2010 with 9 people (4adult-5children) in this beautiful property. We felt like in paradise. Fantastic garden, well cultivated, beautiful flowers. Very clean house, well appointed and nice decorated. We all loved the big pool, there was no need to go to the beach. Absolut friendly, very helpful and charming owner. We defenitely recommend this property.

Location excellent (very quiet), great facilities - the swimming pool proved to be very useful as the temperatures increased. Air conditioning at night would have been helpful - with the shutters/windows open we served as a food source for the myriad of mosquitoes. With windows closed we baked. Even nets around the beds would have sufficed. Although the ratings dont allow it, the lack of air conditioning/nets has pushed my rating to "Good PLUS".

We stayed end July-begin August 2010 at the property, which is extremely clean and well maintained (beautiful furniture and nice decorations). The owners are - for good reasons - very proud of the house and the beautiful garden. House and garden are spacious/vast and can easely accomodate 8 persons or more.
We loved to play table-tennis and to ride the bikes (which can be used up and downhill in the garden) although not all of them were in perfect condition. Younger kids will certainly love the (safe) childrens playground. The swimming pool is large (abt. 90 m²) and has some toys for the kids. We recommend to keep it heated even during warm summer days, because the nights can be rather chilly. Pool heating is to be paid extra, abt 20 euro per day. During our stay all days were +30°C (and sunny), most evenings/nights less than 20°C, which is excellent to bring down bedroom temperatures for a good night sleep.
Most places of interest (Lisbon, Sintra, Queluz) as well as restaurants are within 20 to 40 min drive by car.
The property is certainly recommended for a larger group of persons with children (of all ages) who appreciate total privacy and like to visit Lisbon, Sintra and other places of interest.

Our expectations of fontainhas were high but they were fully met! Beautiful garden, very cosy en nicely decorated house and well equiped. Also the owners were very friendly and we had excellent Indian food out of their restaurant in Lissbon.
The kids (almost 5 and 3) loved the house too, and even preferred to stay around the house instead of going to the beach.
Some considerations:
- you will need a detailed map or tom tom.
- nearest beach is 40 min. drive (otherwise, Lissabon centre or nice villages like cascais is less!)
- be carefull with small kids. There are really nice terasses and the swimmingpool is great, but there are no fences. Also stairs are not child-friendly.
- direct environment (around the house) is not very interesting
Anyway, we had an excellent stay and hope to come back some time!

We had a wonderful holiday. The house is beautiful and set in its own delightful gardens, all beautifully tended. The owner is extremely charming and helpful in every way. We had 8 adults in the house at one time and it was very comfortable and an interesting blend of design.

We stayed at the Villa as a family with Grand Parents and Grandchildren. The Villa was very spacious and very tatefully furnished. Although the main stairs to the upstairs masterbedroom were not the best child friendly stairs, we overcame this by assisting them. The masterbedroom and twin rooms were adjoined by the family bathroom which was ideal for the family to be close by.
The other rooms were also very nice and a seperate anex room by the pool was great if you have other party members who are not family or want some time away from the main party. We paid extra for the pool to be heated which is a must, as due to the micro climate of the area, the water was quite cool. We stayed end May and the evenings did go cooler but with a cardigan, we did eat outside every evening.
There are many areas where everyone can have their own space to relax and enjoy time as a group of you have a large party.
Due to the location of the villa a car is needed to get from the airport and to go food shopping in the nearest town about 10 mins drive away. There is a small shop for bread, and fresh produce just a small walk away. but did not have items needed to feed a family for a holiday!
We only stayed for 1 week, but we all said we would have liked to stay for another week! We have already told our friends what a great place it was and would love to go again in the future.
Perhsps some maps would be a good idea to show some local places to go, as the area is not very well sign posted. We did travel to Lisbon City and spend an afternoon around the main square, which is delightful and should go to visit whilst in Portugal. We did not venture to the beach as we found the pool and pleasant park area at the villa kept the children more than occupied and made the holiday more relaxing.
There was sometimes a problem with the electricity as too much used at one time caused the power to go off. A hob kettle would be a good idea as there is no electric kettle due to the power problems. The owners were very helpful and were only a phone call away to ask any questions. We also had a take way from their Indian Restaurant near Lisbon on our last night. We also only found out after a few days that the water is not safe to drink from the tap so make sure you buy large bottles of water when you visit the local supermarket.
We had a great time and would recommend this to any family who wish to spend time together and chill out.

A beautiful villa that was so relaxing.
Due to location, would definitely require the car rental for the stay.

We spent a wonderful 3 weeks in this gorgeous property. The house has a lot of character and has been decorated with a lot of taste. Even being 11 people each one of us had its privacy. The pool, the kid play ground and the beautiful garden are perfect for family. We had 3 kids and they very much enjoyed the garden and pool. Historic sites are close, choices between cultural Sintra, Lisbon shopping or Cascais beach are easy since all of them are only 30 minutes away from the property. Heating the pool is a plus, even if during the day it is hot the evenings are cool. We had dinner at the restaurant of the owners in Lisbon = excellent and the owners also offered us to deliver Indian food at the property, which was a wonderful idea. I defenitely recommend this property!

If you want to spend time in beautiful and exquisite surroundings - this is the place.
The house is very spacious and well planned and the interior full of pleasant and beautiful things and details to meet the eye.
A unique house indeed
We were a party of 8 people and had plenty of room and privacy.
The garden is fantastic - very well kept and with lots of possibilities - be it relaxing in the hammock or table tennis tournaments or swimming in a warm and huge pool or listening to the fountain in the little garden lake to sooth your mind
The owners are very kind and likeable and did their utmost to make our stay a very pleasant one.
The house is apprx 25-30 min. drive from Lisbon and/or the Sintra
coast with sandy beaches and big waves.
Although the Lisbon highways are excellent we would
definitly recommend a GPS in the car - once you get into the countryside you are easily lost without one.
This is a place you would want to visit !

Really friendly welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the owners. House has real character and very tastefully and well rennovated. The extensive gardens were a beautiful and relaxing environment. Good sized pool (and would recommend the heating early in the season which meant we could use it every day). Location was ideal for visiting various sites in the area and really convenient for Lisbon and the airport. We will definately be coming back!
