The ultimate home from home in Dalyan's prime riverside location

Featuring three bedrooms on the first floor, each with air conditioning (master double with ensuite, second double and a twin) and a second air conditioned sitting room on the ground floor that easily converts into an additional bedroom) Villa Orodelea was individually designed to accommodate in comfort a large family group, two families sharing or guests with mobility problems. Additionally, there are two z-beds available that are perfect for children (up to the age of 12) who may want to stay in their parents' bedroom during their holiday. New for 2013, we also now have a high chair available for use by guests with very young children.

To cater for everyone's needs, in addition to the ensuite facilities there are two further shower rooms and wc's, one upstairs and one downstairs.

The main living room is extremely spacious and comfortably accommodates eight people - as does the dining area - and both open out onto a wide external veranda with plenty of shaded areas for use if there is a need to escape from the sun!

The large kitchen is fully fitted with an oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and a watercooler, and is spacious enough to accommodate a kitchen table and chairs for less formal eating.

Finally, a separate laundry area with a washing machine, iron and ironing board and small hoover ensures that Villa Orodelea has everything that guests need to enjoy a relaxing "home from home" holiday in the sun.

Externally, the private 500sq metre plot boasts a large swimming pool and linked toddler pool (both carefully positioned to enjoy full sunshine all day), a lawned garden and a generous supply of comfortable garden furniture. We have done a lot of work in the garden recently, including the addition of numerous colourful plants, fig and olive trees, a large (3m) garden parasol, an external shower and a stone-built BBQ.

"Orodelea" means "mountain view" and the villa is very aptly named since the spectacular outlook from the front garden and balconies towards Caunos Mountain - a famous Dalyan landmark - is unparalleled elsewhere in the town.

Additionally, the villa features views of Dalyan's trademark Lycian rock tombs from the main living room, the kitchen and the upstairs twin bedroom, where a specially designed rear balcony enables guests to sit and admire the tombs, especially at night when their stunning illumination dominates the whole town.

Guests staying at Villa Orodelea are able to visit the restaurant and bar at the nearby Villa Kiydan apartments - a small and friendly development owned and run by a local Dalyan family - and to access the Kiydan's private jetty less than 100 metres away, where they can relax in the sun and watch Dalyan's many boats travelling up and down the river.

Whilst the number of visitors to this area of Turkey has increased in recent years, Dalyan essentially has remained a small fishing town throughout. Strict planning regulations have been in place for some time that have restricted all buildings to no more than two storeys high, meaning that there are no high rise buildings or hotels anywhere to be seen.

Dalyan has lots of restaurants, shops and bars, together with a good selection of supermarkets, all within 10-15 minutes walking distance from Villa Orodelea. Everyone who visits remarks on how friendly and welcoming the local people are - which probably explains why so many holiday makers return there on a regular basis.

The town is set on a river that leads upstream to a beautiful freshwater lake (Lake Koycegis), where you can visit the local mudbaths and hot springs, and downstream via a reed-filled delta to the sea and the famous Turtle Beach conservation area - home of the loggerhead (Caretta Caretta) turtle.

Just up the river from Caunos mountain with its historic city ruins and amphitheatre are the ancient Lycian rock tombs carved into the mountain side, Dalyan's most famous feature.

Turtle Beach can be accessed either by boat downstream through the river delta or by taking a Dolmus public minibus from the town centre on a wonderfully scenic route that passes alongside a lake and through mountains on its way around the bay.

And if you want to visit Caunos, a small group of enterprising elderly ladies in the town centre offer river crossings by rowing boat for a fairly nominal fee!

Finally, as an alternative to the lovely 10 - 15 minute walk into Dalyan, in 2012 we purchased 4 new bicycles complete with shopping baskets to provide for an easy and refreshing 5 minute cycle ride right into the centre of town and the market square.
