Spacious 1 Bedroom Casita [Apartment] consisting of Lounge, Twin bedroom, Shower room & Kitchen area.
The apartment is equipped with a Radio/CD player, small tv & video, heaters & air conditioning in the bedroom for summer.
There are 2 terraces, one for catching the breakfast sun & a lower one for sitting & having a drink whilst watching the sun go down over El Chorro.
The compact kitchen area has a fridge, hob, microwave, kettle & toaster etc. There is also a gas bar-b-q provided. However the prices for eating out here in rural Andalucia can be very low.
Location
Set in the countryside among the almond and olive groves with ever changing colours of wheat, anis & other crops. The views stretch for miles into the distance to El Chorro & El Torcal.

The villas are situated just outside the pretty barrida”hamlet” of Pastelero & St Maria del Cerro which is about 5 kms from Villanueva de la Concepcion to the East & Almogia to the West.

Pastelero has 2 very good local bar/restaurants which serve local tapas and meals with open air bar-b-q’s at weekends.

Please remember, this is rural Andalucia. Complete with donkeys, dogs & horses. Roads are not to the same standard as in the U.K. and if you are considering exploring the rural lanes, access can be difficult outside of the summer months. You may wish to consider a 4- Wheel Drive vehicle.

Around & about
Our nearest towns are Villanueva de la Concepcion & Almogia, typical Andalucian ‘pueblos’. There you will be able to buy most of your holiday needs. They have numerous small supermarkets, two banks, a pharmacy, a surgery, 24hr Ambulance & several bar/restaurants.

Villaneueva is overlooked by El Torcal, a massive limestone outcrop. Take a drive to the top and look out South across the valley and hills to the Mediterranean, East to the snow capped Sierra Nevada and West towards Ronda. Follow the marked walk where not only will you be captivated by the strange and beautiful rock formations but you may also see eagles, buzzards and vultures. If you are lucky you might even catch sight of the ibex that make their home up there.

A few kilomtres further on, the other side of El Torcal, lies Antequera. When the Romans discovered it, it was already 1000 years old. Stop for a drink on the terrace of the Mirador bar on the road into the city. Spread below you are the white painted, red roofed houses, interspersed with the towers of Antequera’s many churches. In the distance a huge rock emerges from the plain – La Pena de los Enamorados – from which, according to legend, two lovers, one Christian, one Moorish leaped to their deaths in a tragic suicide pact. This historic city is well worth exploring.

Flamingos at Fuente de Piedra
For those who enjoy a round of golf, the nearest course is in Antequera. In addition, the coast, which has an abundance of courses, is easily accessible.
This is a walkers paradise, particularly outside the summer months. Look for a hilltop, get prepared for some roughish terrain including some fierce thorns, and just follow your nose untill you get there. Expect wonderful views and, in springtime a profusion of wildflowers set against a backdrop of the greenest green you’ve ever seen.

Your villa is centrally located for easy access to Seville, Granada and Cordoba. Closer at hand, the city of Malaga is a vibrant blend of old and new.

Wow, what an amazing two weeks, woke up on the first morning to amazing views of the valley, no wonder you referred to it as the ‘Lake District’ without the lakes! The hills merge into mountains and the mountains merge into each other as far as the eye could see. The jingle of goat bells was the only sound that first morning as the goats followed their herder in his new 4 x 4. Now that sums up the rural face of Andalusia – traditional and yet slowly pulling itself into the 21st century.

We really loved the ‘get-a-away-from-it-all’ nature of the holiday. At night there was something magical about sitting, glass of wine in hand gazing at the stars.

The barbeque area was idea for ‘living outdoors’ and the large parasol provided some welcome shelter from the midday sun.

El Torcal is a must for any visitor – the view from the top, of Malaga, Casabermeja, and Villanueva traces the journey from airport! Antequera with its Moorish castle and 24 churches is ideal for shopping and sightseeing. And just around the corner from Antequera is the Wolf Park, well worth a visit at any time, but even better to go to the barbeque and watch Daniel, the owner, howl with the wolves!

Pastelero is a place I recommend to anyone, but I’m not going to shout too loud, because the more people that come to see it the more they will want to stay. Still as long as Just what we were looking for, peace, quiet, comfortable surroundings, sun & lots of wine. Lots of interesting trips [try El Torcal early in the morning]. Thank you.

The weather was beautiful for all of our stay. This is our favourite place to come & relax & get away from our hectic life. we recommend Bar Godoy for its Tapas in Villaneuava. As for the view well it speaks for itself.

It is a great place to be so that you go visiting all the interesting places around here. Its also a great place to be so that you dont have to go anywhere else. You can enjoy yourself what ever you do.

We spent one week at Casita Higuera & it was really relaxing. You can feel very close to the nature, especially in the morning when you wake up to the birds & the cockerels. Its a really great place, especially for people like us who work 24/7. You can simply come here & forget about everything.
Natalie & Tomas, Poland

We really enjoyed the time in Casita Higuera, relaxing & the weather was fine.Jen & Bryan were really helpful. The view from the top of “El Torcal” was amazing.

After a rainy summer in England Casita Higuera was a perfect place to relax & soak up some lovely spanish winter sunshine. It was a perfect little hideaway with everthing you need. We loved climbing in “El Torcal” national park & Xebar in Concepcion will put on a vegeterian feast.
Davina & Sam, Lancaster, England.

We loved 11 days here in Casita Higuera, the find of the house was a little difficult. Our wish was fulfilled for many impressions of the culture & history & for relaxation. We went by car through wonderfull valleys, Malaga, Cordoba, Seville & Ronda are interesting towns with a Moorish history with tolerence of religions for many centuries. We enjoyed an early spring with many sun. The cottage was ideal. We say many thanks for our hosts Jen & Bryan.
Ingrid & Christian, Dresden Germany.
