Fethiye villa rental details
VILLA ALTAS
This is a very spacious villa set in its own delightful gardens with a pergola, generous terracing and balconies and its own private swimming pool and heated garden shower. It is in a beautiful rural location in a small selec t development located on a hillside with wonderful panoramic views. It is very spacious, being one of the largest properties on the site, and provides generous accommodation for up to 8 people. There are very large balconies to both the first and ground floors on two sides of the villa which means that you can choose to sit in the shade at any time of the day, and in the garden is a large pergola where you can sit (or lie) under the grape vine’s shade.
Inside The Villa:
Sleeping
The villa has 3 generous sized bedrooms, 2 with double beds, and 1 bedroom with twin beds. There are 2 bathrooms upstairs - 1 en suite, and a shower room downstairs. Each of the bedrooms accesses directly onto the generous balconies, overlooking the pool with views of the valley and mountains. In addition, there are 2 large single sofa beds in the sitting room. A child’s cot can be provided on request. Bed linen and towels are provided, the latter for use only inside the villa.
Air Conditioning
Air conditioning is installed to each bedroom and to the sitting room. Hot water is provided from the solar panels.
Entertainment
The villa has a CD and DVD player and a selection of music CDs and DVDs. We have provided many traditional family games and there is a growing selection of paperbacks reflecting the wide range of reading of previous guests.
Eating and Living
There is a spacious sitting room and dining room linked by a wide open arch to a large well appointed kitchen. The sitting room has comfortable sofas and chairs and an open fireplace for burning logs in the evening if you visit during the cooler months of the year. (Wood and kindling can be gathered from the wooded area above the villa). The dining table seats 8 comfortably. There are large double doors from the sitting room opening onto the hall and staircase, contributing to the light and airy feel of the rooms.
The kitchen has a hob, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and extensive fitted cupboards and marble worktops. Cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, toaster, kettle etc. are provided, including plastic beakers for use near the pool.
The dining room and kitchen open onto a large terraced area which is well shaded where you can relax and enjoy the views, catch the cooling summer breezes and take in the beautiful sunsets.
Under the stairs is the utility room with the washing machine, ironing board, cleaning materials etc.
Outside The Villa:
The peace and quiet may be interrupted by the jangling of goat bells, shepherds flutes, cockerels crowing, frogs croaking or turtles mating, but you cope!
There is a delightful garden with masses of flowers, fruit and olive trees and often tomatoes and cucumbers to be picked. In the upper part of the garden is an attractive pergola for lazing, admiring the views and eating Turkish style. The swimming pool is illuminated ready for a midnight dip. You can swim and still admire the view thanks to the wonderfully elevated position of the villa and its grounds.
Loungers, parasols, tables and chairs for outdoor use are provided together with a barbeque.
Directly from the villa you are able to walk out onto the various tracks/footpaths and into the protected woodlands immediately above the site.
There is street lighting and the well stocked private garden and swimming pool are illuminated at night.
EATING OUT, SHOPPING AND ACTIVITIES
The villa is near to the village of Kadiköy and the Saklikent Gorge in a very attractive part of the Turkish countryside which allows you to see, and experience if you wish, how real Turkish people live, as the local people are genuinely pleased to see you and often invite you to share a glass of tea (çay pronounced ch’eye).
This is an opportunity to really get away from the hustle and bustle of life, unwind in a peaceful and scenic area, but within easy distance of places of interest. The views are truly magnificent across the Xanthos Valley and on to mountains at the far side. There are protected woodlands directly adjacent to the site and snow capped mountains to the east.
On Mondays in there is a small open market.
In Kadiköy, as well as lots of general stores, fruiterer, chemist and doctor’s surgery there is a large carpet factory/showroom which is well worth a visit even if you don’t want to buy as they talk about how the traditional Turkish carpets are made and show you their breathtaking range of exquisite silk and wool carpets.
Between Kadiköy and Saklikent Gorge are numerous places to eat, offering traditional pancakes, trout, kebabs, chicken at very reasonable prices and where you can sit and eat in the traditional Turkish manner.
Saklikent Gorge is about 5km away and reputed to be the 2nd longest in Europe, although only 4km is walkable. It provides a considerable contrast as you pass from the heat of the day into the gorge with its ice cold melt waters. There are suspended walkways initially but you have to be prepared to do some wading and to get a bit damp. Afterwards recover by having a relaxing drink or a meal in one of the restaurants along the river side. Also available is river rafting, mud bathing and tree houses in which you can arrange an overnight stay.
Tlos, just a short ride away and clearly seen from the villa, is a very imposing ancient city, founded by the Lycians. The site was occupied at least from the 2nd millennium BC and is one of the oldest and largest settlements in Lycia. Many cultures have had an influence upon Tlos. The Greeks, Romans and Ottomans have contributed leaving extensive remains of the acropolis, theatre, agora, tombs, stadium, etc.
On the way to Tlos you pass Mountain Lodge, a small family run hotel which has a bar, swimming pool, attractive grounds, children’s play area and serves snacks and evening meals. You will be made very welcome by Mel, the owner and she is happy to provide wireless internet access if you need to keep in touch with your emails.
A little further beyond Tlos are restaurants such as Yaka Park where trout are farmed. You can eat fresh fish in a delightfully shaded setting surrounded by running water which has been ingeniously routed through the sitting areas.
Carrying on up the hillside leads you to a major area for growing apples.
Patara Beach and its ancient city: - Patara beach is vast and is reputed to have the finest beach in this part of Turkey where you can enjoy playing in the waves and surfing. It is a protected site and its beautiful sands, unspoilt by any development except for a single very pleasant café on the beach. The ruins of the old city are passed through en route to the beach.
In addition to Tlos and Patara, along the Xanthos valley there are other sites founded by the Lycians that are of interest, namely Pinara, Letoon and Xanthos. The attractive port of Kalkan is a further 15 minutes on from Patara.
Kemer is our nearest town, about 15 minutes drive. The Friday market – not focused on tourists - is definitely worth a visit.
Fethiye is about 45 minutes away and is a pleasant mixture of a seafaring town that is attractive to tourists but also a thriving community throughout the year. Here you will find a wide range of restaurants, from simple cafés to 5 star hotels. You can book a boat trip around the local bays and islands where you can swim, snorkel, scuba dive or fish and enjoy grilled trout, chicken or kofte with salads, breads and melon served on board. You can choose to hire a private boat for your party at very reasonable prices per head for the day – in 2009 £100 – this includes all facilities and main meal.
EXTRA INFORMATION
The villa is managed on our behalf by a locally based company with an on-site manager. They arrange transfers, car hire, arrivals and departures at the villa, cleaning, washing bedding and towels, pool treatment and regular visits. They are contactable with any queries and emergencies 24 hours a day.
Transfers to and from Dalaman Airport can be booked or you can hire a car and pick it up at the airport - we supply detailed instructions on how to get to the Villa. If you find cheaper flights from Antalya airport this is within a 180 minute drive. A child’s car seat can be provided if ordered. As the villa is located in the countryside near to so many places of interest, we recommend that you hire a car for at least part of your stay and we can arrange this if requested.
In Kadiköy village there are shopkeepers who are helpful, welcoming and will deliver if required. One shop now has wireless internet so you can park outside and pick up your emails if you have your laptop with you.

Fethiye villa rental reviews
Review submitted by non-Villarenters customer:
What a lovely place! The villa was so spacious - a huge, beautifully fitted kitchen with marble work surfaces. You can tell this is someone's home - not just a business.
The local people in the village were so friendly and nobody tried to sell me anything, a bit of a change from what we've come across before! The pool and garden were just perfect. Al loved climbing in the gorge – I just stuck to wading through the water. My favourite was the Yakapark trout farm, sitting and snoozing in the shade listening to the ice-cold water gush past me, after a lovely meal and a cold beer. In fact this was one of the best holidays we’ve ever had and we’ve already booked for next year. Kate and Al Graham, Edinburgh.
