A stone built 3 bedroomed detached villa with private pool, half an acre of land and beautiful, uninterrupted views of the Mediterranean, Souda Bay and the White mountains.

The villa has a large air conditioned living room leading onto two spacious balconies, a kitchen/dining area, 3 double sized air conditioned bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

The villa is equipped with TV, DVD player, Ipod docking station, CD player, a Play Station 2, games, a travel cot and high chair

Outside there is a swimming pool (9.5m x 5m, 1.2m deep) surrounded by a large terrace, equipped with sun beds, deck chairs and umbrellas.
Alfresco dining can be enjoyed on the balconies or on the covered terrace downstairs where you can admire great views.
There are areas for parking and ball games.
There is an assortment of outdoor games equipment including basketball net, and bats and balls

New for 2009 is an enclosed toddlers play area with toys where your todddlers can play while you relax by the pool

The villa is situated in Western Crete, a quarter mile outside the traditional Cretan village of Kokkino Chorio and 5 minutes drive from the village of Plaka. Their tavernas serve great local foods, beer & raki.
A 10 minutes drive away (3 miles) are the Blue Flag sandy beaches of Almyrida Bay where you can rent kayaks, windsurfs, & sailing boats or have dinner in the beach-front tavernas.

The villa is ideal for families and couples.  

On the ground floor is a kitchen, two double sized bedrooms and a bathroom with a bath, shower and washing machine.
Bedroom one has a double bed and double doors opening up on to a sea facing patio.
Bedroom two has twin beds and opens up onto its own terrace overlooking the swimming pool.
There are dining areas on the covered terrace outside the kitchen (with space for 10) or in the kitchen seating 6 people. A high chair is also available.

Upstairs there is a spacious living room with two large balconies. A dining area on the west facing balcony can fit 6 people, whilst a smaller table for more intimate dining is on the north face balcony.

Also upstairs there is a third bedroom with twin beds and a large bathroom with shower.

The house comfortably sleeps 6 adults in the 3 air conditioned bedrooms. In addition, there are two sofa beds for additional sleeping space in the living room. A cot is also available

Set in a rural location amongst almond and olive trees 

Almyrida Bay is only a 10 minute (3 mile) drive from the house. The beaches here are very safe for children as they shelve very gently into the sea. There are over 20 restaurants, bars and shops and you can also rent kayaks, windsurfs, sailing boats & bicycles.
There are no large hotels and so Almyrida has a quiet environment that livens up in the evening as the beach front restaurants and bars fill up with diners.

The bigger seaside town of Kalives with beaches, restaurants, bank and supermarket is a further 10 minutes drive from Almyrida.

If you are missing the delights of the city, Chania, regarded as one of the loveliest cities in Greece, is a 30 minutes along the National Highway. There is a great old town where you can wander the narrow lanes until you come to the Venetian built harbour lined with restaurants and bars. Boat trips and horse and carriage rides are available and nearby there is a water park with both gentle and scary rides!

Crete is the most southerly and largest of the Greek islands (180 miles long by 40 miles wide) & so there are many areas to explore including walking in the Samari Gorge (Europe’s longest gorge at 18km), boating on Lake Kournas, driving through the White Mountains, discovering the many beaches or wandering the historic cities of Chania, Reythimon or Heraklion.

As the home of Europe’s earliest civilisation, Crete has many ancient ruins including Knossos Palace, the ancient home of King Minos & the Minotaur where according to Greek myth Icarus began his ill fated flight.

Crete has 300 days of sunshine every year with temperatures ranging from low 20’s to high 30’s from April to October. Outside this period the temperatures are usually in the mid teens.  

The villa is set in half acre of land. There is parking, an area for ball games and a basketball net. There is a collection of balls, bats, frisbies and shuttlecocks for guests to use. There is a Play Station 2, playing cards, chess and draughts, lego and other assorted games and books. The villa is also equipped with a travel cot and high chair. New for 2009 is an enclosed toddler play area with toys for yours toddlers to play in while you relax by the pool

The villa comprises 3 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 2 twin. The property also has 2 double sofa beds located in the Living room. This gives room for up to 7 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The villa has 2 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use. Air-conditioning keeps the villa cool.

The villa has television dvd. The music system will play cassettes, cds, radio.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 8 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The villa is in a very quiet area. It has a private swimming pool, a garden, a patio area, a balcony, sea views, panoramic views, interesting views. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

Close to the villa you will find a beach, sailing, boat hire, wind surfing, fishing, walking, cycling, shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the villa you will find horse riding, scuba diving, historic sites, a museum, a theatre/cinema.

lesley says: "We all had a great time especially our two year old grandson.He loved the play area and the pool (the latter under supervision at all times). We loved the views and quietness. Almyrida is a great beach for youngsters and all the tavernas had highchairs and were very welcoming to children as well as having good food.Our daughter is pregnant so was really glad of the air conditionig as we had very hot weather. We look forward to going again."
