At 1 hour there is the beautiful village of Ronda, you drive a very scenic road from Casarabonela to Alozaina, Yunguera y El Burgo up to Ronda, crossing the Sierra de las Nieves!
Ronda is one of the most spectacular cities of southern Spain. Because of its location this city was one of the last Moorish bastion, which fell finally in 1485 in the hands of the Christians. The city is divided by the 100m fissure of El Tajo gorge, the southern part is the old Muslim town. In the newer town on the other side of the El Tajo gorge is the Plaza de Toros, the cradle of bullfighting, it was built in 1785 and is one of the oldest arenas of Spain. The bridge, the Puente Nuevo, which crossed the 100m El Tajo gorge is the main tourist attraction of Ronda.
In addition to the Plaza de Toros is also the Palacio Mondragón an important landmark, a palace with a patio decorated with original Moorish mosaics and plaster.
About 15 kms from Ronda are the caves ´Cueva de la Pileta´(near Benaoján), with prehistoric paintings from different eras.

At less then an hour you can visit the bustling port of Málaga.
In earlier times it was a major commercial port because in the 19th century wine from Malaga was one of the most popular beverages in Europe until the Phylloxera, the disease that devastated the vineyards of Europe, also reached Malaga. And thus its prosperity and merits.
The old city in the centre of Malaga is around the catedral. The Museo Picasso is nearby and has many works by the artist born here. Other attractions are the Alcazaba, one of the most important fortresses of Moorish Andalusia and the Castillo de Gibralfaro, a 14th-century Moorish castle, what can be reached through beautiful gardens.
Don´t forget to taste the Málaga wine in one of the old bodegas, some are serving as well tapas.

On more than one hours drive lies the Parque Natural El Torcal (close to Antequera).
The national park of El Torcal consists of limestone mountains ranging from 1000m to 1200m high that by the wind and the rain has adopted the most bizarre forms, stacked stone pancakes, columns, huge mushroom of stone, plateaus and ravines.
Hikes start at the visitors center, there are opportunities for short and longer hikes.

Review submitted by non-Villarenters customer: Beautiful finca - cool and inviting. The pool staring out at the valley below us, which is beautiful by day but spectacular by night, with all of the twinkling lights of the distant towns... like tiny stars beneath your feet. (Donna)
