Chittoor Palace is one of the most amazing places to stay as an honored
guest, while it is very difficult to put a date to chittoor palace
experts say it could have been built any time in 1600
There are many legends attached to the palace, the most popular being
the ouster of the Maharaja of Cochin from Perampadappu (the seat of the
royal family) by the Zamorin of Calicut. The aggrieved king went on a
mission to create a temple that would equal the splendor of the
Guruvayoor temple near Trissur. Built with the help of the local
chieftain, the temple came to be known as the Chittoorappan temple.
However, though popular locally, it failed to make a dent in the
popularity of the Guruvayoor temple. The palace was built for the
Maharaja and his family to rest during visits to the temple.

A double deluxe suite on the ground floor can house two people and
opens out into the verandah and lawns that provide direct access to the
backwaters. The rooms upstairs or the Rajamallika (the kings palace)
occupies the entire first floor. The Rajamallika comprises a large
living space and a bedroom with an attached bath.

The charm of the palace lies in the fact that it is a homestead where
the food is cooked by a Namboothiri Brahmin as was the custom in the
royal household, and is strictly vegetarian. Only wine and beer will be
served here.

A must to do at the palace is ride on a motorboat. Witnessing exclusive
dance after the dusk will delight your eyes & soul.

A truly REGAL experience.. The idyllic setting by the backwaters,
Serene & calm. The trees alongside, a plump content fisherman goes by his long slim wooden boat. You wake up to the chirpping of birds and
sleep to the still of night. Very comfortable beds, clean and classy
interiors with polished wood. Sumptous food from the royal kitchen -
authentic & served with warmth. Outstanding hospitality. Made us feel
