| "My wife and I stayed two weeks at Maison Mimosa for our honeymoon, and it was the perfect place to get a genuine flavour of life in Provence. Everything from the low ceiling with the beautiful beams to the antique furniture makes the apartment ooze of old world living. The little roof terrace is perfect for enjoying the morning coffee and fresh croissants from the boulangerie around the corner.
Flayosc is a quaint little town, its quiet and relaxing, and perfectly situated for visiting most of what Provence has to offer. Everything is within reasonable driving distance, be it the beach or the mountains.
There are good alternatives for eating and drinking, and after youve figured out the sometimes baffling opening hours youll thoroughly enjoy the town. Particularly Id like to mention the chocolate souffle served at the LOusteau restaurant across the plaza from Maison Mimosa, it bleeds warm chocolate and is the best Ive ever tasted. Its to die for!
Our French is rather poor, but the locals are very patient and helpful, and with a lot of pointing and a mix of carefully pronounced English and pidgin French we got by very well."

"while this property had lots of atmosphere and charm of the region, three aspects were totally unacceptable in our opinion.
1. There is ABSOLUTELY no excuse for poor mattresses in rental accommodation, only one bed in this establishment had a reasonable mattress but even that was so hard we had to resort to folding a duvet on top. The two other beds one single one 3/4 were appalling and caused back problems in one of our party.
2. There were no blankets or quilts to suit a chilly nite in autumn, duvets being the only alternative and those had no covers and were far too warm, we had to put on extra clothing to sleep in one night as there was no added warmth - cotton blankets would be a good addition in that climate for spring and autumn.
3. MAISON Mimosa does not have any security or privacy door/grill/gate to stop people coming up from the studio downstairs. On one occasion the cleaner arrived unannounced on a Sunday afternoon to clean the STUDIO and set about coming up and down the stairs into our bathroom to get ?linen....we felt that our privacy and paid for space was invaded and found THIS ASPECT COMPLETELY AND ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE WHEN HAVING PAID TO OCCUPY THIS UNIT. It is simply not good enough to say"lock the bedroom door" when the loo and bathroom were outside the door and the other parts of the house were open to anyone who chose to wander around!
There was no decent wine bottle opener - in France this is not acceptable.
No casserole dishes at all, only one very old one which leaked.
No Microwave - surely in this day and age an accepted part of daily living?
Only two pillows on the double bed/usually one expects four.
No shower - please dont advertise a shower and then offer a hand held bath shower attachment.
Only one bed was made up, and no other linen was available.
On the plus side: The fans in the two bedrooms were a god send and were essential in the heat experienced.
The lounge/dining/kitchen area charming and comfortable - definitely need a fan in this area.
Close to restaurants and amenities.
Wonderful atmosphere and history in the apartment.
In conclusion - we did feel that we had been granted the very bare minimum of equipment, compared to similar establishments in South Africa the standard was very low. Please attend to the security/privacy aspect one does not ever expect to have people wandering in and out at will in an establishment which is yours on payment and the beds.

:
We are glad that the lounge, dining, kitchen area was found to be charming and comfortable as well as lose to restaurants and amenities with a wonderful atmosphere and history in the apartment. We have received numerous complements about how comfortable the main bed is and how well equipped the house is. Unfortunately the second bed was not prepared and this was an oversight on our part. The property was booked for two people, but it should have been obvious to us that two beds were needed as this was booked by a mother and daughter. We are sorry to hear about the mattress in the second bedroom. We will look into this and buy a new one if necessary. We have not received any complaints about the security before as there are heavy duty locks to all of the rooms except the bathroom. We do have a property manager on hand to enable to ask for things such as blankets. In view of the heat at this time of year we did not realise that blankets were needed. They would have been supplied if a phone call had been made. We have provided a bottle opener and cork screw. If this has been mislaid by a previous client then it will be replaced. (this is easy to do as there are a few shops over the road that sell them). There is a full range of pots and pans in the property. Last time I looked there was a glass casserole dish. Due to the tiled floors, things do get broken from time time. We replace then when we can. We do not advertise a shower. There is a hand held shower head but this is for rinsing hair only.

| "We could not have asked for a better place to begin our honeymoon. The house is gorgeous and quiet and the village has everything you would ever need. Flayosc is the perfect homebase for those wanting to explore the surrounding area, and equally ideal for those seeking a quiet sojurn. Area restaurants are fantastic and the owner and villagers are friendly and helpful."

"We found the property very pleasantly decorated and true to its description. We felt let down, however, by the lack of security insofar as there was a self contained studio downstairs (which was occupied at the time we were there). The studio was able to lock its door but they had access to our Maison bedroom/bathroom up the stairs. It did make for a rather uncomfortable stay (especially during the night). The stairs up to the top bedroom were, to say the least, treacherous on the descent. We, as Australians who tried to speak (limited) French with a smile, found the shopkeepers inhospitable and on a number of occasions, rude. We loved (sorry, I've lost my notes on the exact names) Bar de la Remise and Restaurant L'Oustaou (to the right of the maison) ... fantastic friendly service and, in the case of the restaurant, superb food!."
Owner reply:
:
The bedrooms and living room in the upstairs Maison Mimosa now has locked doors. There are two apartments within the property; Maison Mimosa is on the top 3 floors, and Studio Mimosa is on the 1st floor. Both are rented out separately but use the same front door. The only area that is common to both properties is the hallway leading to the front door. All of the stairs have solid hand rails. The stairs to the top bedroom are original 17th century and have suffered a little wear during the centuries of use. We have discussed this with some of our guests and the opinion has been consistent in that it would be a pity to loose the history of this part of house by making modifications to the stairs. We have had no other complaints about this feature of the house.

| "We felt a connection to Provence which would only be achieved by being in a small village. Several of the restaurants in the village were not that friendly but others were exceptional. The location is very condusive and central to exploring Provence."

| "This was my second stay at Maison Mimosa and I hope to do it again. Just love the house and the village, low key and very real, villagers are very helpful. There are several good places to eat in the village. Easy distances by car to some of the most beautiful countryside in France.
Great stay."

| "We ended up using the studio, as well as the rest of the house for 5 people. We were VERY happy with the extra bathroom, king size bed, and kitchen that the studio had to offer. We even had fans to stay cool! We enjoyed the beauty of the house and the surroundings. We were also pleasantly surprised by the open-air markets on Wednesday. The entire square transformed! We did learn, though, that Bastille Day is not the best day to arrive, due to parking problems and a loud band. However, one of the locals took us under his wing and helped us find 2 parking spots and the house among all the chaos! The people were really kind. It all worked out and we had a wonderful time. I was also pleased at how easy it was to reach the owner, as well as his assistant nearby, when we needed some questions answered. I would definitely recommend Maison Mimosa to a friend."

| "This apartment is perfectly located if you're looking to live in a genuinely French town, right in the heart of town. Just outside is the central square with bars, cafes, and Michelin-rated restaurants. The town is lively and very pleasant, and the nearby countryside and surrounding towns are perfect for day ventures.
The apartment is unique, French, and eclectic. If you are expecting a sterilized hotel, don't come here. But if you want a creatively designed and furnished apartment, this is it. We absolutely loved it.
Beware, though, that the ceiling in the kitchen is very, very low. My tall husband could not fit in the kitchen standing up. Also, the stairs are a bit tricky for people with trouble walking (the old, the injured, toddlers). Best for the spry among us.
Very, very comfortable bed -- a surprise in France -- and a lovely top-floor terrace. Beautiful long, rich curtains. Washer and dryer. A fireplace that works very well, no smoke getting in the room and a nice warm glow. Good plates and glasses, reasonable cooking gadgets. Wonderful decoration and careful attention to detail. Thoughtful care is given to this home."

| "We had a wonderful time in Flayosc, we rearly enjoyed Maison Mimosa.
The village people were all very friendly, wonderful restaurants and food shops.
We were very sad to leave.
Would love to return one day.
The property was quite different from what we have experienced, but the old rustic charm enabled us to sock up french way of life.
Thankyou, for letting us stay."

| "We have just returned from a lovely week in Maison Mimosa. We really enjoyed being in Flayosc. It was great to live in a typical Provencale house where everything was clean and comfortable. We drove round the area and enjoyed the markets, the lovely weather, the eating and of course the rose and the kir!
It would be great to think we may enjoy a return trip sometime in the future.

| "If you want to be in the centre of village life, then you can hardly be nearer than staying in this house. Most nights were quiet up to closing time, but Friday must be pay-day, and was noisy up to mid-night but is that really a problem? Loved the house - some may find the three windy spiral staircases charming but a challenge too."

| "If it's history your looking then this is the place. No outside space as such, but the small verander acted as a very nice retreat. Low beams were a bit of a problem. Huge comfortable bed. The same goods points were also a problem - cafe/bars right under the window, very handy for meals, but very noisy late at night with customers and early morning with the cleaning and tables/chairs being put out. Don't go here if you want peace and quite. but do go here if you want to experience french life.
Town is lovely, very friendly locals. Well placed for visiting St Tropez & Monte Carlo and the Verdon Gorge is spectacular.
Maison Mimosa is certainly worth a visit"

| "A lovely place - clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. Its location - right on the village square - gives one an immediate sense of being embedded in the community. Also, all the necessary shops are within a block or two, including a boulangerie right downstairs.
The townspeople were unfailingly friendly and quite tolerant of our mangled French."

| "If you want a holiday at the heart of a vibrant bustling and friendly Provencal village, then Maison Mimosa will meet all your expectations. The property is clean, well furnished and ideally located for those who wish to explore the area from the Gorge de Verdon in the north to the coast just a few miles to the south. For food lovers the village offers excellent restaurants all within just a few yards of the front door"

"The village of Flayosc is perfect if you want to experience french village life. The people were very friendly and helpful and we had great fun chatting with the locals over a glass of wine in the evenings. Lots of great places to visit within a short distance. Flayosc is a good starting point for exploring the area. The property is lovely and would have been more comfortable if the chimney had been fixed before we arrived so that we could light the fire."
Owner reply:
:
We have now made the chimney taller and added a conical section to the last part before the top. These alterations have made the chimney draw much better. This has been verified in the review submitted by Susan from Michigan (Submitted: 09/04/2007).

| "We were looking for old world charm and we were not disappointed. The best part is the location-right in the middle of this quaint little town. The people were friendly and when we needed some help, many tried to assist us(which was fantastic since I don't speak French). The lodging was perfect for two couples with separation by floors, and the one bathroom was modern and up to date. Of the three places we rented over a three week period, this was our favorite. All things considered, this was a wonderful choice."

"We were looking for something quaint with a feel of history and found this property to be perfect. We loved the little village of Flayosc and found the townspeople to be very friendly and helpful.
I only have three minor criticisms:
1. We could find no rack to hang wet clothes on.
2. Must be willing and able to climb stairs. At the end of the day our mothers were pooped and didn't look forward to climbing the stairs.
3. We could have used more varied cooking pans (with lids) since we enjoy cooking the local produce.
We will definitely recommend this charming house and town to anyone looking to stay in the south of France. It was wonderful!"
Owner reply:
:
We have now added more places to hang clothes and there is now a portable clothes drier (otherwise known as a "clothes horse"). We have bought lids for the pans.
