"Our third time in Kalkan and, although the prices keep on rising, the town is as beautiful as ever. The locals couldn’t be more welcoming and it was great to see some old friends from our previous visits. Cactus 220 is a lovely apartment and furnished beautifully. A few drinks on the patio, watching the sunset after a stressful day at the pool, was one of the treats of the holiday. Would recommend to anyone thinking of staying in Kalkan. . .but be prepared for the steps!!! (or just wait around for the shuttle bus like me. . .) "

"The property is a very nice, comfortable appartment with all the amentities for a family of 4 persons. The appartment is on the top of the Resort Princess Patara (sea side view) (many step to the beach platform) but this is not a problem since 1. Up to the appartment there is a second swimming pool and the hotel supermarket and 2. The hotel bus can transfer you to the beach and to the swimg pool and back to the level of the appartment. If I will visit Kalkan again I would defently stay at this appartment. Many thanks to Tricia (owner) for the valuable information!!!!"

"The apartment was clean, tidy and in a nice quiet position. It was perfect for our needs and we didnt want for anything. The Patara Prince Resort itself is absolutely stunning, as is Kalkan. For our first visit to Turkey we have been truly spoiled and already want to come back. The owners of the apartment could not have been more helpful and were a delight to deal with. All in all, a fantastic experience. Many thanks. We would recommend this property without hesitation."

"We went to Patara Prince for the first time this year and we cant wait to go back again. With our 15 yo daughter and 12 yo son, we were looking for somewhere they would meet friends and have fun. They met lots of lovely friends and we were able to escape to quiet areas away from the hubub. Kalkan is lovely and although it has lots of shops its not full of tat. The appartment was quite small but we were only there for sleeping and the occassional lunch and supper. Theres a garden area just outside that is fairly private. Tricia the owner of 220 looked after us so well, checking that we had transfers sorted etc. Highly recommend it."

"We had a wonderful time - Kalkan and the surrounding contryside are really beautiful, and the weather was perfect - rather hot though! The appartment was perfect for us, having the kids pool and market nearby was a real bonus. Thanks also for recommending for transfers and car hire - both of which we took up. Everything went very well all round. I look forward to the next time we can get away - hopefully next May - well definitely be considering Kalkan and your appartment - and well recommend it to our friends! "

"WE HAD A LOVELY HOLIDAY AND WILL CERTAINLY RETURN. THE APARTMENT AND RESORT EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS AND THE STAFF WERE REALLY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY. WE FOUND THE SHUTTLE BUS REALLY USELFUL, ESPECIALLY RETURNING FROM THE POOL FULLY LOADED WITH TOWELS ETC! WE ALSO USED THE WATER TAXI TO TAKE US INTO TOWN ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS, WHICH WE THOUGHT WAS REALLY GOOD VALUE AT 3YTL. WE ATE BOTH AT THE RESORT AND IN KALKAN AND WERE NEVER DISAPPOINTED. WE LOVED THE BUFFET AT PATARA, BUT ALSO LIKED STROLLING THROUGH KALKAN LOOKING FOR DIFFERENT PLACES TO EAT. WE HAVE NEVER BEEN TO KALKAN BEFORE, BUT WILL RETURN AS IT'S A DELIGHTFUL PLACE, AS IS THE PATARA PRINCE RESORT."

"We took advice from the owners and while we stayed in one apartment, our friends stayed in the other. It worked out very well. The apartment was small, but perfectly formed, as they say! The resort was very good, the staff very pleasant and we had a lovely time. The resort’s little bus was great because although the walk down was OK, the walk back up was not for us! Thanks for a lovely short break. Back to the rain!"

"We had a really lovely time at the Patara Prince Resort. We wished that we had booked two weeks and will certainly be returning. The apartment was exactly as described and we were not disappointed in any way. We visited Patara beach and the ruins and really enjoyed ourselves. We did not hire a car this time, but we will next time and explore the lovely coastline and little villages. Kalkan is not overpoweringly ‘touristy’, which we were grateful for, but it is not too quiet. Just right. We either had our meals at the resort or in Kalkan and were never disappointed. Thanks to the owners for all their help, also to the staff at the resort, who were excellent. "

"Our villa was of a very high standard; we were able to sit on the patio area and sunbathe quite privately, if we chose. Close proximity to the top pool was a plus too; and the air conditioning very useful! The descriptions we read were accurate even with reference to the steepness of the cliff Patara Prince resort is built on. We were very pleased with our choice and would recommend to anybody. The restaurant a la Carte, was excellent and the 25%, off was welcome. we loved the piano bar - very atmospheric!"

Review submitted by Bas from Netherlands (Submitted: 17/09/2006)
"It was mostly as described on the website. But we expected it to be nearer to the sea. The resort is build on a hill and the appartment is located allmost at the top. It takes quite some steminar to walk the hill in the summer heat. Fortunately that isn't necessary since the resort has a small van that regularly drives up and down the hill. Besides the allmost nonexistant cooking possibilities, the appartment was to our satisfaction. Beware that in a year or 2 the fence might be covered with plants so you won't have much of a view."

"The villa itself offers comfortable accommodation. It was clean and adequately furnished with pleasant surrounding. The maintenance and reception servcie, however, have room for improvement. For example a light fitting that did not work never got fixed during our stay in spite of more than one reminder."

Owner reply: :
We are naturally very sorry to hear of problems with the maintenance and reception service at the Patara Prince Resort and have contacted our guests directly to ascertain the exact nature of the problems they encountered.

We would like to assure future guests that, after discussions with the management, new procedures have been introduced to ensure a better service throughout the resort.

Our guests have informed us that they will be returning to the apartment next year.

"The apartment is located about 1 mile from the town so a taxi is required since with the heat, a walk would be exhaustive. The apartment is at the top of the complex and is situated on the ground floor. The complex is built on a very steep hill, so with the apartment at the top, too much walking is not a problem. There is a free internal minibus that ferries clients up and down to the resort bars and restaurants on the resort. The groundfloor means that the lovely view is obscured by a fence - pity. The town prices food and drink at an European level - which, when you go out of town makes you realise that these prices are somewhat high! There is a post office in town where you can exchange pounds for Lire etc and this is open late - even on a Sunday! The apartment can sleep 4 with two in the single beds in the bedroom and a couple sharing the double bed in the living room. Whoever uses the double bed must be aware that their privacy can be compromised - unless they don't mind sharing it with the Gardener!"

"Initially I had doubts about the property, it was so reasonably priced that I figured it would be of a low standard. I am glad to say that this is not the case and that it exceeded my expectations, the apartment was very clean, comfortable and well maintained. This extended to the Patara Prince Resort as a whole which was run to a high standard. In short, fantastic villa, great resort, everything you could ask for to make the perfect holiday."

"We had a great time at the Patara Prince Resort. The apartment provided exactly what 'it said on the can'! We had the choice of sleeping in the bedroom at the rear, or the double bed in the main room. We chose the latter and often just opened the curtains in a morning and lazed in bed! The apartment is at the end of a terrace, so there wasn't much chance of anyone seeing us, apart from the occasional gardener, which was good because we are not at our best in the mornings! We were spoilt for choice with the pools, each one having a completely different atmosphere. The views from all three are amazing, but especially the infinity pool near the apartment. We mostly walked down to the bottom of the resort, just to get rid of the extra pounds from eating so much, but made use of the shuttle bus for the ride up again. When it was very hot we even called the shuttle from our room and it soon came to the little roundabout near the apartment, which was very convenient! We had a great time and will certainly return. Thanks for many happy memories, especially the boat ride over to Kalkan and wading waist-deep at Saklikent Gorge."

"This review may be duplicated, because we're not sure if the first review was sent by the computer, or got lost in 'computer space'! Anyway, here goes! The apartment and resort were great and did not disappoint! We had a lovely time and will certainly return. The pools were very clean, the food was very good, both at the resort's restaurants and in Kalkan. The boat ride across to Kalkan was lovely. We had a smashing meal at the Korsan restaurant and then travelled back again by boat over the bay. The apartment is set in a quiet area, so we took the opportunity to catch up with our reading in the little garden in front of the apartment. The owners were very helpful, answering any questions we had prior to our holiday. Thanks for a lovely time. Hugh and Kathryn "

"We had a lovely holiday and were very impressed by the apartment and resort. We have been to Kalkan before, but always in hotels. We would definitely choose to stay at John and Tricia's apartment again for the flexibility it gave us and the access to superb facilities. We also had some great days out at Patara Beach and Saklikent Gorge. We would advise others to take a change of clothing to the gorge if you intend to wade through the water! Can't wait to go again! "We would definitely recommend this apartment and the Patara Prince Resort. The apartment was immaculately presented, with many extras to make our stay special. We enjoyed evenings on the terrace, spreading out into the little garden. The resort is delightful, with beautiful gardens, sunbathing platforms, numerous pools, restaurants and the friendliest of staff. We have been to many places in Turkey, but this is the best. Kalkan town, although it caters for tourists, has not lost its 'fishing village' feel and is a delight to visit, especially using the water taxi from the resort. The surrounding area is fantastic for its scenery and historical sites. The weather, even in May, was lovely. Full marks to the owner and the resort!! Brian and Jean"

"We loved the resort and Kalkan town.
It was also an excellent base from which to discover the magnificent coastline.
We have been to Turkey several times, but thought this area absolutely stunning and unspoilt.
We will certainly be returning.

"The situation of the resort just outside Kalkan gave us the best of both worlds.

The traditional town is complemented by the Patara Prince resort, which nestles on the hillside on the opposite side of the bay.

We love water sports and were very impressed with the facilities on offer.

We will certainly return. We had a lovely relaxing holiday."
