| "We loved staying at Casa de Olmedo, beautiful, secure, and cozy apartment, with fantastic views of Colonial Quito you can enjoy while having breakfast in the morning, or simply hanging out in the balcony. Well eqquiped kitchen perfect to entertain friends and family coming over, the fireplace was really helpful for the tipycal cold nights of Quito, it also gave the apartment that cozy feeling of being at home. The only minor thing wed change would be the twin sizes beds for a queen size bed, we managed to put the beds together and have a "comfy"queen size bed. Overall Casa de Olmedo gave us the opportunitty to go back to a place close to our hearts, it was a wonderful experience for us and we definitely are coming back"

| "Very good option to visit Colonial Quito.
Very secured.
The kitchen is perfect.
Beds are very comfortables.
A bit cold during the night but it seems a common charactiristics of old colonial houses.
The fireplace was necessary and very usefull."

| "We stay at places all over the world and this one was really great. Architecturally interesting, well-located, secure, well-priced. We would have liked a few more cooking supplies and basic staples like salt and pepper but those things are minor. We rcommend Casa de Olmedo wholeheartedly.
The property manager arranged great day trips for us. Thanks Mathieu,Patricio and Lucia!"

| "Casa de Olmedo is an apartment of quality. The attention to design, the materials, fixtures, appliances, the art on the walls, and the books in the bookshelves, all demonstrated quality. I thought of Robert Persigs theory about "the metaphysics of quality" while residing in this lovely loft condo. It is located absolutely in the heart of Colonial Quito with the Presidential Palace only a couple of blocks away, but once youre in the complex, there is a lovely quiet courtyard that feels like a different world than the bustling street outside. The building has a 24 hour guard, and we always felt safe. 1-4 people who want to live in the heart of Colonial Quito cant go wrong with this fantastic accommodation for a reasonable price."

"This is a nice HUGE apartment with a convenient location in old town and handy (though SLOW) internet access.
There is lots of noise from the street. Drafty windows (especially in the cold bathroom - not ideal at night!)
Also, this place claims to have "all modern conveniences". These do NOT include:
HEAT: Quito can be quite cool at night. Bring warm clothes. (They charge you for logs for the fireplace.)
STOVE: If you cant microwave it or cook it in a pot, youre out of luck.
DISHWASHER: Not a big deal, but if you claim to have all mod cons, this is pretty basic.
Also, there is extremely limited hot water (my wife and I had to take 5 minute showers to avoid running out of hot water)."

We believe this is an unfair rating on this beautiful apartment. Based on all of our comments from former customers, we have never received this type of rating. As for the dishwasher and other type of appliances…this customer knew from the website what appliances were in the apartment before he booked it. As for heat…..fire logs are available but it can be added that none of the upper level hotels in Quito Colonial have central heat. As for the hot water…..there is a 25 gallon AMERICAN STYLE water heater in the apartment which should be suitable for normal use. We are not sure what this couple was actually using the shower for! As for noise…..we represent very honestly on the booking service that there is some noise in Colonial Quito much like other international inner cities. It is quite strange that we have received only four and five star ratings on this apartment from other customers and this one person decided to leave one star. Our past record speaks for itself.

| "We loved so many features of this apartment--the location, the views, the size--and so many things about Quito--that we didn't want to leave. Furthermore, the management agency was excellent with swift and friendly communication about the apartment. They are also willing to arrange rides and tours based on all our needs (and all of these worked out so well in terms of timing and details). Usually we travel very independently, but we felt very well cared for on this trip. The apartment is much more beautiful than the pictures on the website reveal. There is a dining room with an expansive view to the spires of the Basilica and the cupola of another church--lovely both day and night. Interesting windows even in the bathrooms offer vistas to different parts of the city. You can even see a glimpse of La Virgen de Quito up the hill from the bedroom window. The kitchen--a bit of a dream kitchen design-wise--is well equipped for cooking and the open layout of the apartment and incredibly high ceilings allow for good conversation while one person is cooking and another is relaxing on the sofa, or up in the loft working on a laptop (if you have brought one) with the convenient ADSL hookup. The only recommendations for the apartment I would offer for people who stay there would be: take warm clothes for the evening (although there is a wonderful fireplace and firelogs available); note that while there is plenty of hot water for showers, the bathtub is so glamorously huge that there isn't enough hot water for a tub of this size (for those who like baths)--although I boiled water on night and managed one with a combination of tap water and boiled! These are minor issues, really. We felt incredibly lucky to be able to walk out our door and get to a supermarket around the corner, the Plaza Grande only a few yards beyond, and the rest of the Centro Historico immediately around us. The apartment is perfectly located for day and night walks, and when we wanted a taxi, all we had to do was go to the corner. A week wasn't really enough to do all that we wanted to do with all the architecture and then the art and museums that are available (and daytrips that can be arranged through the management). We'll just have to go back."

| "The apartment is spacious, beautiful, secure and very comfortable. The apt is very modern, while the colonial architecture has been kept in tact.
The owner and manager are truly wonderful, and work hard to make sure everything is perfect.
The area is lovely, like living in a museum.
Because the apt is located in the downtown area on a relatively busy street, there is considerable noise during the day and sporadically throughout the night. This did not bother me, I liked the city noises, but might be an issue for someone sensitive to noise.
Overall, this is a fabulous place to base your stay in Quito."

| "I am very happy we stayed here and would definitely stay here again. I probably wouldn't even bother looking for alternatives.
Location is excellent - a 2 or 3 minute walk from Plaza Grande on a nice typical side street.
Accommodations are clean, contemporary and very spacious.
Amenities were great - having the real CNN International channel, for example, via DirecTV rather than the repetitive loop you get in many hotels, was nice. And the internet connection was reliable and very convenient.
The airport pick up we arranged via this service was right on time and perfectly smooth, too.
Only real nit I would mention is that the 'queen' size bed is two doubles positioned side by side. I know this is fairly common practice, but it would have helped if there was one of those devices that braces the box springs together to prevent them from sliding apart. This wasn't so inconvenient that we asked the owners to do anything about it while we were there, but it is an opportunity to improve further upon what is an excellent rental option.

"1. Hotwater system was set to be OFF from 6 am to 10 am - I had to reset
2. very difficult to reach the office in GYE - called twice and did not get a return call [ re tours and re check-out]
3. description assumes internet is available - only internet connection was available"
Owner reply:

With all respect to this customer...he is not entirely forthcoming as to what happened. The hot water was not connected the day he moved into the unit and we IMMEIDATELY turned it on for him. He arrived at around 3 p.m. and we took care of it by 5 p.m that same day. I am not sure what "GYE" means but our office hours are from 9 to 1 and 3 to 6. He called ONCE at 8 a.m. where he left a voice message that he wanted a returned call by 9:30. We returned the call but must have missed him on this ONE day in which he called us. If our website is misleading about the internet we will change it now. The internet is available for those customers that bring thier own laptops...there is NOT a computer in the apartment.

"Dear Mr. Guillory, I recently enjoyed a splendid month in the loft you rented me Casa Olmedo. It was way beyond my expectations and a delightful place to stay; the enormous size of 1900 sq. ft. made the stay most enjoyable. The decor was very nice and the amenities, high speed internet and DirecTV, were most appreciated. It was a very safe area in the heart of the Historical District and walking distance to many fine restaurants. I would certainly recommend the property to my friends. Your staff gave me excellent service and there were no glitches from the time your car picked me up at the airport until the time it took me back. A very wonderful vacation. Cheers. Arthur "
