"We enjoyed the lovely villa and wonderfull views
However the pool heater was not working properly and we could not use it all holiday and were very upset.The sat tv etc advertised was not working and we were told it will only pick up portugese telly although there is a dvd that works- take lots of games. No hot water on arrival but was fixed later.Overall the lovely views clean air and large villa compansated for this. Just to point out there is nowhere really to walk from the villa and kids could be bored as there is a long drive to the bottom of the mountain. There is only one restaurant near the villa 2-3 miles away and that is italian pizza and pasta only and was not very good.
Funchal is about 45 mins not 20 as the guide says"

Yes we had a challenge with these clients and I am sorry they were somewhat disappointed.
The pool was not heated when they arrived due to one of the staff having switched off the electricity in error. The pool engineer was there within 30 minutes and the heater corrected. We told them that it would be 48 hours before the pool was up to correct heat however Mr. Chalmers phoned me some 12 hours later to say that it was too cold I checked later that day and the heat was brilliant and perfect for swimming.
The hot water situation was their error as they did not let the tap run. We sent an electrician who could not gain access as they had gone out they phoned again so we sent a second person who found absolutely nothing wrong but advised them that it took a few moments to arrive from the boiler to the kitchen as it was a long run.
There are many walks from this villa one infact leaving from the house lane, behind the house next door , Casa Maria and around the valley. The other way goes upwards through a lovely wooded area to Camacha.
Near to the Italian restaurant, which is actually one of the best on the Island and attracts locals from afar, there are two restaurants that specialise in espedada, chicken and pork ribs served with maize, rice and salad. One each side of the restaurant which they found just 5 minutes further each.
Santana theme park which is ideal for children is half an hour away, the aqua park is 10 minutes away and Santa Cruz just 10 minutes has all shops and restaurants, churches, banks and post offices.
We have again requested the local cable TV company to connect the service, and expect to have it connected next week to amend the situation.
