"we had a lovely holiday at casa sweetie. the property is in very good condition and as described. most of the fixtures and fittings are of good standard. had a small problem with pool heating and a blocked shower drain but a quick phone call resulted in a rapid response to put things right. the pool was a little chilly as it was still april but warm enough to enjoy. el medano is a place you gotta get out the car and walk through the town to find the bars, restaurants etc but they are there. good value for money if you look around . very quiet around the villa as we like it !! one small shop and restaurant within easy walking distance ( approx 600 yds ) within a hotel complex. the seafood and wine was excellent here. not far to the bigger towns by the main road and not far for the golf too. all in all an excellent place to holiday. 9/10 i would say."

"We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Sweetie, which we established was the nicest villa and the only villa with a pool in the area. The interior was clean and functional. The master bedroom was beautifully decked out and had a nice view out to the pretty garden. Despite the slight blockage in the shower in the master bedroom we managed to cope as there were two other bathrooms. The downsides were that there were no instructions on how to use the appliances, so we did not know how to use the washing machine which was a shame as only one towel per person and one tea towel etc was provided. We also could not find a dustpan and brush to sweep up the kitchen and the dust that builds up in the house on a daily basis (it gets windy in El Medano and the dust just sweeps around the house). The first few days when we arrived it was a bit chillier, with some rain and strong winds blowing, so we could not use the pool. In the evening it was quite cold even inside the house and luckily we requested a spare blanket as there did not seem to be any heating. The weather improved vastly during the second week of our stay and we made the most by sitting on the terrace and cooling down in the pool which was just the right temperature! El Medano is a pretty town - once the roadwork is complete I am sure it will be even nicer to walk along the promenade. What we loved was the fact that El Medano is just a 15 minutes drive away from Los Christianos/ Playa de Americas/ Costa Adeje and at the same time we did not have to put up with a small apartment right in the crowded town centre. We have stayed in Holiday Villas in other places before and were always contacted by either the owners or the Managing Agents at the beginning or during our holidays. In this instance we were not contacted by anyone during the stay – but I think a lot of people would appreciate a little guidance and a few tips here and there, considering the villa did not contain any further instructions apart from some emergency telephone numbers. Lastly, the villa is actually located in the flight path since it is only 10 minutes away from the airport. It did get a bit noisy especially when you are trying to sleep in on a Sunday morning for example and it felt like planes were passing every 20 minutes! All in all it was a very relaxing holiday and we are already making plans for our next visit to Tenerife. We can only highly recommend Casa Sweetie and its convenient location with a lovely inviting private pool."

"This is a lovely property on the outskirts of El Medano - car hire is a must. The villa is well equipped and has lovely views."

"The Casa Sweetie is a beautiful Villa, located in the quiet fringes of El Medano, itself an unassuming quiet town, easily accessable about 10 minutes from the airport. The Villa is spacious and well furnished with lovely views of the Ocean. You will need a car to stay here but is perfect for any family who wants a quiet and relaxing time in Tenerife."

"The property was first class and exactly as descibed in the promotional material - a real home from home - sleeping 6 in absolute comfort. The two Engish couples who serviced the property with a change of linen and gardening enhanced our stay with some first class advice on touring destinations. The pool was kept in pristine condition. The wind which helps make El Medano a favourite wind surfing destination also had the effect of ensuring that the temperature around the pool was very comforable. Finally I have been partcularly impressed with the services of the rental company. "

"Dissapointed by the location, it was a little out of the way, but if you are happy to hire a car is quite close to busier areas. Arrived at night and found it difficult to find the way to the local 'shopping centre'! Very Spanish resort and not much English spoken! The locals, bars etc were lacking in customer service! Nearby Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas oozed friendlness and customer service. The neighbour was aggressive when the driver of the taxi we used mistakenly drove over his drive! Even though I apologised prophetically and explained we were new, he was not a happy bunny! It would be good if directions to the town were given in a 'welcome' pack, together with taxi numbers and a bus timetable. The villa itself is spot on, really private and to a high standard, the comments on previous reviews regarding the 'flight path' is unwarrented I feel. If you want a really relaxing quiet holiday with no one to bother you this is the place to go!"

Owner reply: :
Thank you for your feedback.

I am really glad you found the villa to be “spot on” and ideal for a relaxing holiday. We take a lot of pride in the upkeep of the villa and feel that it is definitely a cut above the average on the rental market. We want everyone to be extremely comfortable as possible and have the best experience of the villa that is possible.

For the benefit of future renters I would like to touch on a few of your comments:

Firstly, the resort is a cosmopolitan resort, friendly fairly, with some lovely restaurants. English is predominantly spoken in the touristic areas but there are of course some very Spanish communities and to us this adds to the charm of the place. It is of course a Spanish island!

Personally our preference is to steer well clear of the more commercialised resorts you mention and the villa offers a different type of holiday to one you would get in these busy areas. Also, we have never had anything but good service from the local and very friendly restauranteurs here.

Secondly, I am sorry about the issue with your taxi driver. Just to clarify, this almost sounds as though the villa isn’t private – again for the benefit of readers – it is totally private and securely tucked its own secure gates. There is a footway, not a drive, at the end of the cul-de-sac which extends across the frontage of the adjacent property. I can only assume your taxi driver encroached upon this and the neighbour who has a young child was probably just concerned regarding her safety. It is really not an issue at all.

Lastly, a welcome folder is provided for you with all local details on. Directions to the town are obvious because as you know you have to drive through it in order to get to the villa – it is one straight road from the town to the villa.

I hope you don’t mind me adding these comments but I do feel it is important for future renters to read it so they can make an informed opinion on the villa. We do appreciate your feedback, your 4 star rating and your complimentary comments about the villa itself.

"This is a well furnished and beautifully laid out house. Any equipment you could want is to be found in the kitchen. The house is spacious and in a very quiet location. The area around the pool is very generous and well planned - we had the benefit of the sun all day without hoisting chairs around ! There is a delightful little beach within a 3 minute walk and plenty of larger beaches within a 5 minute drive. The village Los Abrigos - 7 km offers an excellent variety of restaurants - best we have found so far in Tenerife. "

"This is a stunning villa, providing every home from home comfort and more. We thoroughly enjoyed our week here. The gardens / pool area are completely private and, as this is a residential location, it's very quiet and relaxing. The villa is definitely on a flight path, but we disagree with previous comments that the noise stops conversation - it's not that loud! (although there are frequent flights the noise lasts seconds and we didn't find it intrusive at all). It's worth noting that the area IS quite windy - sometimes worse than others - but it's a warm wind and it is bearable (especially when its very hot!) Unfortunately, the pool was not heated on our arrival but this was dealt with the same day (took a couple of days to reach temperature though). There were just a couple of minor niggles. It was disappointing that only one hand towel and one bath towel per person was provided. A list of local emergency contact numbers should be provided (not just the property management company number) and there was very little tourist information / leaflets etc. We didn't use the barbecue as it needed cleaning. Having said that, on the plus side the villa was spotlessly clean, basics such as washing up liquid, loo rolls, barbecue charcoal, and even tea lights were provided. The welcome pack on arrival is well worth the cost, especially if you have a late arrival. Overall, this villa is highly recommended."

"We were really pleased with the quality of this villa and I thought it was pretty good value. The owner has nice taste and it is kept beautifully. El Medano is nice and exactly what we were looking for for a quiet break. Previous reviews about plane noise etc, I don't necessarily agree with. At times, yes, there would be a few planes coming over, but it certainly didn't bother me. The pool was great and sheltered nicely from the considerable breeze at that time of year (March). One small issue for me was the unannounced arrival of firstly the gardner and secondly the pool cleaner. Although I understand these visits need to happen, a warning would be nice, as I did feel it imposed on our privacy on 2 consecutive mornings..... If we knew, at least we could've been out! Overall, I was very pleased."

"Casa Sweetie is obviously more then a holiday home. Very well maintained and fitted out. The owners obviously use this as a home not just an escape in the sun. Its in a great location as a short walk away is the lovely little town of El Medano which has some nice cafe's and eateries. I would recommend a stay here!"

"Absolutely beautiful property and it was a delight to travel from the Ukraine and find a second home like this. I have rented villas all round the world and this ranks amongst the best I have stayed in. I would like to comment that I do not think the last review about noise from the planes is justifiied. The villa is a 10 minute drive from the airport and NOT on the flight path. Yes you are aware of them in the skly but the tranquility of the area far outweighs this. I have stayed in Las Americas before and heard more noise from the people walking the street! Thank you Jon for organising my trip so well for me and at the last minute too. I shall be in contact for my next visit and hopefully this will be to Casa Sweetie too!"

"We had a lovely time here and the villa was excellent. Because of the timings of our flight we had arranged to arrive early with the booking agent but this appears not to have been passed on to the local agents. They were still preparing the villa when we arrived so we sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine while they finished. They did tell us about the local supermarkets and restaurants etc which proved useful as the villa contains no visitor information pack. One other thing to mention is that we did not receive a linen change for the second week and this was made worse by the washing machine being out of order. These were just minor irritations though as we did have a great time and really enjoyed this beautiful well equipped villa. Thank you "

"The villa was all that it had been suggested that it would be, my only disappointment was the fact that the villa was under the flight-path from the airport, and as such, there were a large number of flights going overhead on a regular basis. Noise level was sufficient to stop conversation as you couldn't hear what was being said. This did only last for 10/15 seconds, but numerous times a day. I imagine this would have been even worse in high season. Villa would have been beyond excellent if it had been away from the flight-path."

"Met all our expectations. Lovely villa and pool. 10 days of peace and relaxation. El Medina minutes away and kite surfing a pleasure to watch. Only drawback was some days the weather was very windy."

"BEAUTIFUL PROPERTY, WE FELT REALLY AT HOME FROM THE MINUTE WE ARRIVED. EASILY ACCESSABLE TO ALL THE WONDERS THAT TENERIFE HAS TO OFFER BUT AWAY FROM THE HUSSLE AND BUSSLE. PERFECT FOR A TOTALLY RELAXING HOLIDAY "
