"Loved it, but had noticed from another review that there was another cottage directly behind it, which was not reflected in the photograph. Would have preferred to be completely away from all others!! Only as I am with others all the rest of the time..... Missed not having a microwave for certain things, and needed some extra cooking implements for true self caterers, like serving dishes, knife sharpener and microwave. Very clean, beautifully laid out, very comfortable, would definitely recommend to other couples, and would go back myself."

"This is a very special place. The owner thought of everything. He even had an axailable picnic basket which we could use. The cottage is on a small peninsula overlooking the town of Yougal. It is an old (350 years) building with all the modern amenities one could ask for. Truly a special place."

"Great location as a base for touring S E Ireland or for just relaxing and taking in the ever changing view of the river and its wildlife. The many boating enthusiasts who use the nearby slipway are not a problem - in fact they are quite entertaining. It's an ideal spot for shore anglers - plenty of good sized bass. The cottage is excellent, furnished to a high standard and very comfortable. The owner is very helpful. "

"It was my first experince in Ireland and I did everything over the internet, by research. I never felt so comfortable and safe and better than home. My trip was overrwhelming and as I got off the plane in Boston, from my trip home, I announced I was moving back to Ireland!! Which I am in the process of doing!! I loved the cottage and everything it had to offer, along with being close to the town. I do wish I could have been in Ireland in the summer, so I could have taken the boat from bay over to the town, that would have been nice. I was in Ireland for St. Patty's day. I would recommend this cottage to friends and was very pleased as to all the service and kindness I received on my holiday. Thank you again."

"Our stay in this idyllic cottage will be something we will always remember. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. The cottage and surrounding area are lovely. If you are looking for a tranquil place to relax which also provides you with an excellent base to explore , then you won't go far wrong with FerryPoint cottage! We highly recommend a trip to 'Whiting Bay'. Thanks to Pat, we spent a memorable afternoon riding to the secluded bay and admiring the breathtaking view.."

"The location of Ferrypoint Cottage is second to none- the splendid isolation plus the incredible weather we enjoyed made this a perfect retreat at the start of our holiday. The cottage is fabulous and we enjoyed Pat's visits to see if we were ok. This was our first trip to Ireland and it certainly didn't disappoint- many thanks. "

"

The location of Ferrypoint Cottage is unusual in as much as it is almost surrounded by water. The Cottage is tastefully furnished and well equipped. Although it can be busy with people using the nearby slipway. We found this a point of interest rather than a nuisance. We found the owner helpful and very pleasant.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Youghal and expecially Ferrypoint Cottage. The cottage and its location was far better than we could hope for. We enjoyed the quietness and the most beautiful sunsets over the bay. We will most definitely return to Ferrypoint Cottage."

Review submitted by Anna from London (Submitted: 18/05/2006)
"We enjoyed our romantic break in ferrypoint, the cottage is beautifully decorated inside with the most gorgeous bed, big comfy sofa and a good strong power shower which made our stay feel very luxurious. There is also a dvd/cd player for entertainment and a well equipped kitchen, but the place would benefit from a selection of board games as well. The owners cottage is just across the yard, and there are lots of dog walkers/fishing enthusiasts using the land around the cottage which makes for a lack of privacy during the day and this is why i wouldn't recommend it to a friend. However if you were seeing it as a base to explore southern ireland, rather than a place to hole up for a week as a couple then this might not be so much of an issue. Overall the lasting memory i'll have of the place is sitting on the roof terrace at sunset playing scrabble with a beer in hand looking over the sea on all three sides - which was pretty close to heaven i'll admit."

"We had a great time. Weather was lovely, and cottage was very clean and modern. It had everything we needed. Yougal is a lovely place with plenty of places to eat."

"Words cannot express how pleased we were with this property. Astounding panoramic, 360 degree, picture postcard views-- virtually surrounded by the river bay and the ocean. The cottage was lovely and well-equiped for cooking and dining-- perfect for two people. Cottage provides privacy but yet close to Youghal ammenities. Also, short drives to Ardmore, Lismore, etc. The owner/caretaker was responsive to our needs. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to others needing a quiet restful getaway."

"A peaceful haven to recharge ready for the real world again! Very comfortable, warm and well appointed. Have already recommended it to friends and hope to return to share it with my beau one day! Thank you."

"For the second year running our holiday was better than the "brochure". Ferry Point Cottage was just what we needed; peaceful, secluded, well presented and extremely comfortable. It's unique location, virtually surrounded by water on three sides, was idyllic. The bird watching, boating and walking "brigade" should make this a must; you virtually have your own private beach. This was our first visit to Ireland but it will not be our last."

Review submitted by Judith from California, USA (Submitted: 20/09/2005)
"The cottage was comfortable and the view superb. If the fire worked and the back door opened and there were a separate table and chairs for dining, it would be even better."

Review submitted by Fergal from Ferrypoint (Submitted: 06/09/2005)
"Very nice location. The property is well finished and well maintained. Ideal for a break at anytime of the year as I would imagine different seasons would bring out different aspects of the location."

Review submitted by Debbie from Blackpool, Lancs (Submitted: 21/08/2005)
"The cottage is in a beautiful location, with stunning views from the front. Good base for exploring. Very peaceful, and it is perfect for those who love watching people playing in boats. Table and chairs to eat outside would be useful, and clear guidance to which facilities can be used at the rear of the cottage would be beneficial."

"Lovely cottage in unusual location at end of peninsula facing Youghal harbour. Beautifully and thoughtfully renovated - the web pictures don't do it justice. Very well equipped - only missing a cd player and microwave. Expensive considering size of property and that it only sleeps 2. On the downside although it sounds idyllic and quiet, there's not much privacy in that you are facing the owner's cottage and there is a public road running alongside used by boaters and walkers. But otherwise excellent and ideal base for exploring the area and we enjoyed our stay very much - and judging from the comments in the visitors book so have many others."

"The location and cottage were just what we were looking for. If one is seeking a location to relax during the off season this place is perfect. My wife and I are considering a revisit next tear during January."

"The location of this property is perfect for those seeking tranquility and a haven away from the stresses of everyday life. The property itself is perfect for the requirements of a couple and the local people will ensure that your stay is an enjoyable one."
