A very enjoyable holiday. The town of Salo was really charming ,and the apartment was in a great location. The apartment was comfortable and very spacious. At times could be noisy, but when you rent something in a town one allows for this.
Instructions for picking up keys very complicated, Fortunately a friend was arriving early and other arrangements were made to receive these, which was a great help. The agents were helpful in this regard. I would suggest that collecting the keys would be made in another way.
The cost of cleaning the apartment 100euro and laundry 50euro was very expensive.
Overall we were delighted with the apartment ,and the service we got. S Gamble"

| "Spent an incredibly enjoyable week in this apartment in Salo, Lake Garda. The apartment is very spacious and well equipped. The location is second to none with the very close proximity of both the cathedral and the lake makes this quite a magical place to stay and gives a very authentic Italian experience. I always say I will never visit the same place twice but this could be the exception to the rule and I would be happy to re-visit in the future. Many Thanks. Norma Taylor"

Lake visible but great to walk out front door onto lake side.
Would stay again"

"I was here, in Salò, for 2 weeks in October. What a great find! conveniently located immediately adjacent to an easy dro p-off point (as with nearly all towns in Italy, the coolest part of the town is generally not accessible to auto traffic except during limited hours). There's a ramp garage 2 blocks away.
Finding this newly (and sensitively) renovated flat in such an historic building and location is quite the find. I have read the 14/10/08 review and feel compelled to give the perspective of the well seasoned traveller to the comments made by Guy from Crieff. Italians don't use curtains, they use shutters, and they worked splendidly at this flat. There were 2 melittas to make coffee, however my personal routine involved dro pping in any of the nearby cafe's in the morning for the magical experience of a morning coffee on the shores of Lake Garde.
Having a washing machine and two bathrooms is an added bonus! Located close to the ferry this really is a great place, and I'll be back! I also spent a few odd nights in a nearby hotel and although it was nice, it was more expensive and it was not MAGIC like this apartment is!

"Took us a while to find as arrival instructions did not make clear that number on the key was not the same as the apartment number. Apartment itself was spotlessly clean but lacked: curtains/blinds on the windows, anything to make coffee in, an oven, instructions on using the central heating, blankets on the beds. All the furniture/pictures from Ikea - would have been nice to see some local pieces. Would like to commend Sarah Ferrara for her prompt attention to queries and for providing the blankets at short notice! Overall a nice apartment in a great location but let down slightly by lack of attention to details and therefore did not match up to the level of rental charged."

Hello, thanks for your review. Wed like to make the following points. 1) there are no curtains but there are shutters, in the traditional Italian style, which can be used for security and for blacking out the windows at night. 2) There were 2 coffee makers which unfortunately had been "removed" by previous guests. As soon as you told me, I offered to bring up a replacement immediately but you said not to worry. 3) no instructions for central heating are given because it is illegal in Italy for private homes to switch on heating before a certain date (15th October in Lombardy) - heavy fines can be issued if this is ignored. 4) There were sheets and bedspreads provided, and as noted I brought pure wool extra blankets within a few hours of your request. Id also like to point out that the cause of the door number confusion has now been resolved (we are also available 24 hours a day on arrival days on the emergency number provided in the event of difficulties on arrival) and a microwave oven is being provided for next year.

| "Well, what can I say? A superb apartment, wonderfully located on the lakefront and overlooking the cathedal. It is much more spacious than it looks in the photos and is very well equipped. Its definitely on our list to return to.
The only downsides:
1. we found it very difficult - and therefore stressful - finding the place to pick up the key and return it, especially picking it up when we had just flown in from the UK and it was midnight and raining!
2. we went as 2 couples, and there was only one key... we managed, but for a 2 bedroom apartment, please sort out 2 sets of keys for guests!
3. we were unfortunate and caught a cold spell in September. We searched the flat for blankets and found none, so spent a couple of very cold nights. We recommend leaving some spare blankets particularly for guests staying at the beginning and end of the season, just in case.
But overall - wonderful... thank you."

| "The apartment was on the edge of Salo in a pedestrian area with all the shops we needed close by. A supermarket was at the other side of town but had a good variety of fresh local produce and pre-packaged food.
We all felt it was an idyllic location right by the lakeshore and with restaurants close by - the closest at the bottom of the stairs to the apartment!
The apartment overlooked the cathedral square which was frequnted by tourists and villagers alike, especially as there was an excellent gelateria on the square as well.
It was well appointed with two large bedrooms and a living/dining/kitchen overlookig the square.
Noise would have been an issue if it had worried us as the bins were emptied at 6.30 every morning, the cathedral bells rang out at 7.30 am and 7.30pm, and the gelateria always had a queue until it closed at 11.30 each night.
We struggled getting our cases to and from the apartment and then found out that cars are allowed to load and unload at certain times of the day!
We had trouble locating the apartment using the instructions that we had been sent over the inernet since the number on the key did not match the number on the flat and there were no other indications. The pizzeria manager downstairs directed us to the correct apartment."
