"The actual apartment was very nice with a great central location but the hallway, stairwell leading up to it were dingy. The elevator was out of commission but some renovations were going on.
We felt that we could have had somewhat better service from our landlord, for example
1. Arrival procedure : on arrival we were met by the owners representative who didnt really know much about the apt. There were no instructions in the apt on how to operate the tv, internet, stove etc. The landlord did call us later that evening and answered our questions.
2. Minor annoyances : there was very little tp, even tho we had been promised 2 rolls! Very little dishwashing liquid which was important because the dishwasher didnt work after the first load. The landlord said hed come over to fix it but he never arrived or contacted us about it. Theres a sewer smell in the bathroom which should be looked into. He was always very polite and apologetic but we felt that he was otherwise preoccupied."

My reply in detail:
1. The reason you were not met by either Niki or I was because, as I told your husband in advance, it was my daughters 5th birthday the day that you arrived (and we also had a wedding to attend). It was unusual.. Sorry.
2. The elevator is being replaced with a shiny new one! Totally out of my control and, unfortunately for you, it is nearly complete!
3. We take on board the comment re instructions. We normally explain all these face to face but as a result of this feedback, we have prepared a welcome sheet which we can also email to clients.
4. The dishwasher broke towards the end of your stay and this was very unfortunate. Please note as well that it was clearly stated beforehand that things such as washing up liquid are not normally left for clients (although we have now left a new one and will in future), just as I pointed out that coffee filters were not. However, there was a full box of dishwasher tablets! Please also note that I did tell you that I had organised for a repair man to look at the dishwasher as the description over the phone told me enough that it was a problem I could not resolve.
5. "Sewer smell". I have investigated this and there was some blockage which is now fixed. I was not made aware of this during your stay. Had I have been, I would have obviously got someone there straight away.
I am pleased that our flat still got a positive score because the review suggests otherwise. I feel that the impression of us is unfair and does not correspond to other reviews here or your total score, particularly considering the amount of correspondence that took place before you arrived, where I feel we were nothing but helpful. I also gave you my Skype details to try to ensure that you did not waste money on telephone calls and we responded withign a very short time if we could not take a call (such as when I was driving home when you called).
